Work Text:
Jazz Girl (Lisa): Why can’t you leave me alone?
Spirit: I only wanna be your friend.
Jazz Girl (Lisa): You’re creeping me out.
Jazz Girl (Lisa): How is it that you can just come back no matter what I do??? 🤔
Spirit: I have my ways, Lisa.
Jazz Girl (Lisa): Tell me!
Spirit: Ah, that’s a secret for me to keep, dearie.
Jazz Girl (Lisa): If you really want to be my friend, you should trust me enough to give me the answer.
Jazz Girl (Lisa): Ever since you started talking to me, you’ve told me basically nothing. I don’t know you at all.
Spirit: I prefer to stay mysterious, my friend.
Jazz Girl (Lisa): I don’t think that’s how friendships work.
Spirit: 👹👹👹👹
Jazz Girl (Lisa): You’re avoiding the discussion on purpose.
Spirit: 👹👹👹👹
Jazz Girl (Lisa): That’s annoying! Stop it!
Spirit: 👹👹👹👹

Spirit: When you go to bed tonight, beware.
Jazz Girl (Lisa): Beware what?
Spirit: You’ll see, my friend🤭
Jazz Girl (Lisa): Whatever. I’m logging out.
Spirit: Remember what I said.
Spirit: *sends a laughing devil gif*
Lisa Simpson rolled her eyes – the unknown person she had been chatting with for days was being even weirder than usual. She had just accepted a DM request from someone whom she had thought to be from a jazz music group she liked to visit. It turned out that this weird new friend was more than that. Lisa wasn’t even sure if they even were a person. What if it was just a bot account? An annoying computer generated, nonexistent creature that just chatted to random people?
That was what Lisa had thought at first.
As time went on though, Lisa began to reconsider. This creature might as well be a virus as well, right? But then again, she had never heard of a virus that contact people like this but who knows? It was 2022, things could change all of a sudden, she reasoned and proceeded to delete everything from her mobile devices in hopes to get rid of this weird virus thingy.
It was all in vain.
The next time she logged into the chat app again – after spending half of the day reinstalling everything on her devices – happy that she could continue doing things the same way she had been doing until now, she ended up getting shocked when Spirit reappeared like as if nothing had happened. Even scarier was the fact that they knew she had tried to get rid of them. Lisa didn’t answer any of the messages as for two days and hoped Spirit would just leave her alone by realizing she didn’t want anything to do with them – but Lisa’s wish wasn’t granted. Spirit kept harassing her every day from the morning until nightfall. Eventually Lisa just sighed and began talking with them without realizing what was going to happen eventually. Talking to Spirit was annoying because they tended to distract Lisa from everything they tried to do and it had its effect on Lisa’s homework already. Her grades were worse than they used to be and she absolutely hated it. She wanted to do better with the next assignments and exams and Spirit was definitely someone she wanted to get rid of somehow.
Sadly, it seemed like an impossible task.
“Ah well, I’ll deal with that tomorrow. I better go to bed now”, Lisa sighed and turned off her computer. She headed to her bed while yawning. She got under the covers and pulled the blankets over herself, sighing. She had earned this rest after this very long week of really odd dreams of darkness and endless horrors and bad grades at school. Not to mention the family drama that had taken place more often than usual lately. She hoped that she was too tired to dream about anything and smiled as she turned off the lamp on her night stand.
“You can’t get rid of me that easily, little girl”, said a menacing voice from the darkness of her room in an amused tone. “I will be with you every day from now on and you can’t do anything about it!” voice added and laughed when Lisa screamed in absolute horror as she realized it was the “Spirit” she had been chatting with. How had it been able to do this!?
“Don’t worry about it, dearie, the most important thing is that we are together now. Close your eyes, Lisa – you may or may not wake up tomorrow morning. It all depends on your journey in my realm of horrors”, Spirit chuckled.
“I’m not going to sleep”, Lisa argued even though she was about to pass out.
“Why are you fighting it? You’re going to lose.”
“I am not!”
“You’re too tired to stay awake, Lisa, just let the sleep take you.”
Lisa tried to fight against sleep as best as she could even though she was aware that it wouldn’t help her at all. She was just too tired to stay awake, and thus she gradually drifted off to sleep even though she tried to remind herself that there was an evil entity present in her room and it was chuckling in a never-ending amusement at her desperate attempts at fighting back.
And eventually, after few minutes, Lisa Simpson gave up and fell asleep.
