They were finally moving together, so they were surrounded by boxes. Neither of them knew where to start, so Shouyou opened the nearest one.
It seemed that there was a bunch of old stuff, and he wondered why Atsumu had decided to bring them, instead of just throwing them into the garbage. However, after digging a bit more, he found something valuable.
“Oh, wow.”
“What? What did ya find?” Atsumu wondered if it was something embarrassing.
Shouyou turned around, and showed him a very old teddy bear. Neither of them had thought about it for a long time, and the sight of it unlocked a very lovely memory.
--
It was their very first date, and they decided to go to the summer festival.
“Fuck, damn it!” Atsumu was starting to believe that the game was just a crash-grabbing trap.
For some reason, he couldn’t figure out how to win the teddy bear for Shouyou, and he was sure that he was embarrassing himself in front of his date.
“Can I try it once?” Shouyou asked.
“Go ahead, Shouyou-kun.” Atsumu took a step down, and crossed his arms. He was completely convinced that there was no way that he could get better luck.
Shouyou grabbed the ball, and looked at the hole. If he managed to go through it, he could win the teddy bear that was sitting there, waiting for its rightful owner. He closed one of his eyes, and his tongue stuck out, before making the throw.
“I’m telling ya, this shit is rigged, Shouyou-kun.” Atsumu had already turned around, ready to go to the next game.
“Are you sure about that?”
“Of course, I’m—” Atsumu stopped talking, when he saw the teddy bear in front of him.
“This is for you!” Shouyou offered the plushie to his date.
In a blink of an eye, Shouyou realized that his feet had left the ground, and Atsumu was holding him in his arms. Soon, he felt Atsumu’s lips on his, and while he was still surprised by his date’s reaction, he decided to enjoy that moment.
--
“You kept it all this time, Tsumu-san,” Shouyou said, as he was still holding the teddy bear.
“It was our first date, and yer first gift,” Atsumu explained, as he walked through the maze made by the boxes.
The plushie looked like it hadn’t been washed in a while, but besides that, Shouyou thought it would fit perfectly in their bedroom.
“We need to keep it,” Shouyou said. “To remember when we first started dating.”
Atsumu placed a kiss on Shouyou’s lips, before taking a closer look at the plushie. It had been ten years since then, the best decade of his entire life. Soon, he would propose to him, but for now, that teddy bear was the greatest symbol for their love.
