Tsukasa has always been the touchy type of person. Rui knows that for sure. The amount of times he’s given hugs to the troupe, his siblings, his sister’s friends, kids, everyone really. It’s been a fact that everyone knows for sure.

“He’s so touchy feely. It’s gross. I…kinda like it though. Makes me feel like he cares. He respects it when I don’t want a hug at the moment. I just like that. But otherwise, bleh.”
And then Nene
“Nii-Chan is always so awesome with his hugs! He makes me feel happy every time, even when I cry. He’s so sweet!” Then Saki
“Ah. Kasa-nii? He…he always gives me a hug when I have nightmares. Or when I just feel sad. It’s..nice…really nice.” Toya next
“Hahaha! He’s so generous with his hugs! I loved it when I came over to his house and he would always hug Shiho and I! It’s so sweet!” Shizuku told Emu who in turn told Rui.
Rui thought of his own share of Tsukasa hugs.
He reminisces of the moment Rui realized he was falling for Tsukasa
A day filled with rehearsals ends and everyone is aching everywhere.
“Rui!” Tsukasa then jumped off the stage and hugs Rui
The director easily catches him but feels some sort of heat go to his face
“You were amazing directing on the stage today! Great job! Don’t overexert yourself though!” He grins at Rui
Rui’s small and closed off heart grew three sizes that day.
Rui cuts back to the present and twists the screws inside a robot. The robot he was building was going to pop out a purple heart from its hands on their chest outwards. It was a fun project for him. A small gift to Tsukasa to show his love appreciation for him!
‘Fufufu~ Tsukasa is going to get a kick out of this. Hm~ when was the last time I hugged him for once?’
Thinking of it now, he never sees Tsukasa get hugged by anyone. It’s always him being the hugger but never receiving one.
No, that can’t be right. Tsukasa has to receive hugs! Emu gives him hugs…sometimes. The troupe gives him hugs!…only as a group hug…
Toya? No..he doesn’t give hugs to anyone AT all. He doesn’t really see him give physical affection to even Akito besides holding hands and kissing. So that checks the mark for him.
Saki? She gives hugs but she’s always going to her own band meetings so not so much. She tries to when she’s home though. (And it’s always when Tsukasa leaves…)
His parents? From the time Rui met them when they were home they were rushing to go back to work. Their jobs always had them go to meetings everywhere even abroad so much that they were rarely home. Once they were though, for a day they gave their kids hugs and kisses and all the attention. Only for one day before going again.
Him? No not really. He was similar to Toya, never giving hugs at all.
Wait….does Tsukasa never get hugs?
Rui drops his screwdriver on the table and glances at the sleeping boy on the couch.
Tsukasa had come over after practice and decided to stay there after his sister decided to have a sleepover at Shiho’s. He shot her a message before sleeping so she wouldn’t worry too much about him.
Rui walks gently to the boy and crouches down
Tsukasa shifts a bit before fluttering his eyes open and sitting up faster than ever
“W-WHOA! You scared me there! What’s up Rui?”
“Tsukasa-kun. I’m going to be blunt. Do you ever get hugs?”
Tsukasa slightly stiffens at that but Rui could easily see his best friend’s actions
“I…I- Of course I do!” Tsukasa laughs “Why wouldn’t a star like me get hu-“ Rui then hugs him
He waits for Tsukasa’s next action but he freezes up. Tsukasa wraps his arms around Rui and digs his head into the crook of his neck.
“R..rui?” He says hesitating
Rui brushes his hand through Tsukasa’s soft hair.
“Tsukasa. You know if you want a hug, you can always ask right?”
“I…” Tsukasa shifts self consciously. Rui feels a wet sensation at his shoulder
“My star, tell me what’s wrong.” Rui lets go of the hug and holds Tsukasa’s hand when he sits on the couch with him
“I…I don’t need hugs! Not at all! They’re for people who need it. I don’t need it, I’m fine without them.” Tsukasa stammers our while aggressively rubbing his tears away from his eyes
Rui gently holds his hands to stop him from harming himself. He knows Tsukasa’s been doing it on accident more than usual. He can feel the self deprecation radiating off of him. (He knows from his own experience and Mizuki.)
“But, you seem to need one. More than one.”
“Rui…I…”
“Tsukasa-Kun. My starlight”
Tsukasa feels the warmth in his chest.
‘My Starlight.’ ‘My star’ He feels like he belongs here with Rui.
“You deserve them for just existing.”
Tsukasa’s hics and tears grow softly as he smiles at Rui and hugs him with Rui holding him back
For years, the hugs and soft genuine compliments that Tsukasa craved was here. He thought he wasn’t good enough. He never has been for anyone. Himself mostly. It feels so nice to be cherished by someone he loved without initiating it. Was it supposed to feel this reliving when somebody hugged you?
Once his cries dial down with occasional hiccups, Tsukasa hugs him tighter
“My star, are you feeling better?”
“Mmh” Tsukasa hums
“You can always ask for a hug from anyone. I bet that your sister and Toya-kun would be very pleased to give you a hug. Even us. Emu would love to give you hugs. Maybe Nene too if she wants. If not, I’ll always be here for you.”
“Rui…Thank you. I…really do love you.”
Tsukasa feels his face heat up between Rui’s neck and shoulder but Rui’s heart swells at that. A second of anxiousness appears for Tsukasa ‘What did I just say? Oh no, I’m gonna ruin every-‘
Rui gives a small kiss on top of Tsukasa’s head.
“I love you too Tsukasa. The brightest star in my life.” In the whole universe. Rui wants to add
He shifts a bit to lay down on the couch with Tsukasa on his chest. It’s a bit uncomfortable but it seems like Rui doesn’t even notice.
Tsukasa smiles at that
“Could we stay like this…for a bit more?”
“Fufufu~ Of course my starlight.” Rui grins and kisses him once more
“Anything for you.”
