Ignis Scientia, the man who survived ten years of darkness has graced IQ with a special interview. He is best known for his inventive 'recipehs' and phenomenal style. Even being blind hasn’t changed that! In fact, we would like to argue Ignis has aged like a fine wine.
Through all the many things Ignis is known for, what often gets glazed over is his exceptional hair. From the early styles of his youth to the more mature look he wears today, what makes a hairstyle?
C: Now, what would you say the secret to the perfect hairdo is?
I: You are nothing without the right product. As I have said many times before, your hair is your crown and you must wear it with pride.
C: Sounds like you have a good relationship with your hair care products!
I: I have used many different gels and styling products in the past. It has taken much testing before I found a product that really gave me the kind of lift I needed to perfect my ensemble.
C: What is your go-to product?
I: Before the fall of the long night, I used a product by a man by the name of Antoine De La Crue. However, he fell to the same fate as many did once the daemons were left rampant through Eos. I started creating my own styling products for personal use, and once Prompto started stealing it, figured it was worth expanding upon the concept. It cascaded into Scientia Styles , the new line of products that will be released to the public soon.
C: What is the inspiration behind this new line of hair care products?
I: The long night took its toll on many. When The Chosen King disappeared into the crystal, many of us were found lost and without direction. It was a trying time, and it was very difficult to find one’s grasp on reality. It is actually quite a long story as to how we came upon our secret ‘recipeh’.
I suppose if I had to say, my new line of hair care products is in memory of all those who are no longer with us. I feel like now we need to all be stronger for what we lost and have a brighter future.
C: Wow. That is very deep. I am sure many of our readers need to hear that.
I: I believe you are correct. Anyone reading this would have survived the long night and has experienced much loss and tragedy.
It was at this point when I was able to see a slight change in Ignis’s demeanor. He shifted in his seat and his emerald eyes glazed over from behind his glasses. While it was only a moment, I feel that he went to a place long ago in the darkness.
C: Where did you just go?
I: I saved many people during the ten years of darkness. During that time, I did many things for reasons of my own. It was something that must be done, when so much of what you did was for others. ( I believe he was referencing himself and the Crownsguard who protected all those who were unable to protect themselves. ) One trip to Altissia, I was blessed with meeting De La Crue’s daughter. It was through her, Elisa, that I discovered Antoine’s fate. It was because of Miss Elisa that we came to find the missing ‘recipeh’.
Again, Ignis seemed to be lost somewhere far away. Perhaps it was with Elisa De La Crue, or somewhere he would not let me be privy to. I waited patiently, knowing the story was well worth the wait.
I: I am sad to say that Miss Elisa did not make the journey back to Altissia. She was a brave hearted woman. It is to the memory of Elisa that we will be dedicating 10% of all Scientia Styles profits to the De La Crue Foundation , one of Prompto Argentum’s many projects!
C: Can you tell us just a little about the De La Crue Foundation ?
I: Of course. The De La Crue foundation is a charity that has been established to help all those who have been profoundly impacted by the long night to reestablish themselves in Eos. Already, Prompto has reestablished the Chocobo post and several of the outlying farms.
C: I think that it is wonderful that we are able to see the world putting itself back together after so long of living as if there was no hope.
I: Dear Mrs. Cat.
I noticed the sly smile and the twinkle appear in that ever green gem behind the glass.
I: Hope is a funny thing. If you are looking, you will always find it.
It was my turn to be silent as I realized, after all, Ignis had been through much more than most of us who had survived. I frantically scrambled for my notes and looked at my final question for our interview.
C: When can we see Scientia Styles in Coernix stations and markets all over Lucis?
I: We are in the final stages of branding and producing our first batch for commercial use. Our release date is set for a month from today.
With only a few weeks left before this sensational and much sought after new styling product hits the shelf, we at IQ have a feeling it will be sold out in minutes. With hair like Ignis, this product has a lot to stand up to!
