“I guess that’s why it really bothers me, you know? I try, but I can’t… actually imagine ever making a decision that I knew meant losing you.” It sounds like a dig, even if it isn’t meant as one. He decides it’s okay to let it be hurtful, just a little, because it’s true. “I promised that first. I promised forever. I filed and waited and signed on the line. Jon does scoff this time, the cruel echo calling back to them through the tunnel. “You know I didn’t mean - ”
