“ena!”
“mizuki…?”
ena turned around to see mizuki running up the hill. “hah…sorry i’m late! i was picking up something,” they bowed teasingly.
“it’s fine! but, what were you getting?”
mizuki stood straight up, not making direct eye contact with the other girl. “ah, it’s…nothing, just, come with me,” they gripped ena’s wrist and started dragging her.
“h-hey, mizuki!”
mizuki finally stopped, and ena looked around to see where they were. “woah…mizuki,” she murmured, eyes sparking as she looked up. “this is…so beautiful,” she looked at mizuki, who was staring at her. “m-mizuki?”
“ena.”
they stalked closer to her, reaching out to hold her hands. they raised one of them to their lips, placing a gentle kiss on the back of her hand. “over the fast few years i’ve been dating you, i feel like i’ve known you since birth,” they started, voice uncannily soft. “you know all my secrets, and i know all of those,” the pinkette pulled the artist closer to them, ena’s hands on their chest to not fall. “i love you, so goddamn much.”
“i-i love, you too, mizuki, but, what is this all about?”
“heh, you were always so clueless back in high school.”
“hah??” ena groaned, “just tell me!”
mizuki grew silent, then smiled, kneeling down. “ena shinonome,” they muttered, loud enough for the other girl to hear them. “the day i met you was the best day of my life. you changed my life for the better. you helped me be myself, you helped me from those bullies. i love you for your personality, art, body, just everything about you i fell in love with.”
they got out a furry, black box from their pocket, and ena started crying. “so, ena shinonome,” they opened it and it showed a beautiful ring. “will you marry me?”
ena covered her mouth, fat tears falling from her eyes and onto the floor. “y-yes…yes i’ll marry you!” she jumped on mizuki and hugged them.
“a-ah—okay, i-i can’t breathe!”
“oh my god, i’m sorry!!”
ena let go of her now fiancée and started wiping her tears away. “hah…i-it’s fine, you’re just excited, and i am too,” mizuki smiled, picking up ena’s hand to slip the ring on her ring finger. mizuki then leaned closer to her and pressed their lips against hers. “i love you.”
“and i love you.”
time skip.
“airi, do i look good?!” ena asked, looking in the mirror to see if she missed any pimples. “i don’t want mizuki to see the pimples on my face!”
“ena! you look fine, don’t worry,” airi reassured. “and besides, mizuki’s marrying you for you. i doubt they care about your pimples,” she came into the frame of the mirror and looked at ena.
“y-yeah, i guess you’re right,” ena took a breather. “hey, where’s shizuku?”
“hm? oh she’s not coming,” airi said, fixing up ena’s white, frilly dress a bit. “something happened to her sister so she has to stay home.”
“woah, i hope her sister gets better with whatever happened to her.”
the pinkette went to ena’s hair, adding some flowers to it. “same here,” they both started doing some small talk. “do you know what kind of flowers mizuki likes?”
“um, no sorry.”
“welp, it looks like they’re getting white carnations!”
ena chuckled a bit. it was always lovely hearing airi trying to make light of a situation. it was calming and it felt like ena could go through this wedding without thinking of anything that could go wrong. that’s why she liked airi so much.
airi smiled a bit at how beautiful her best friend looked. “you look so pretty! mizuki definitely picked the right choice to marry you.”
“hah?? what’s that supposed to mean?!”
“nothing nothing!” airi laughed. she looked at the time. “hey, it’s fine, i bet everyone’s outside, sitting around and waiting for you,” she smirked. “and mizuki’s probably in their suit waiting for the most beautiful to walk in~!”
“oh, quit it!”
“hehe!”
airi came out of the dressing room in a dark pink dress. she clapped her hands to get everyone’s attention. “may i introduce to everyone…ena shinonome!” everyone started clapping and airi ran up to where mizuki was. she nodded her head to the flower girl, who was mafuyu. the purple-haired girl walked down the aisle with a basket of random colored flowers.
“here comes the bride~!” everyone started chanting. as mafuyu was almost done sprinkling the flowers around the aisle, ena came out with white carnations in hand. kanade smiled at her. mizuki blushed furiously at the sight of their soon-to-be wife.
ena stepped up the steps to stand in front of mizuki, who tried so hard to look away from her. “hehe, it’s okay, mizuki, you can look at me. i know how beautiful i am.”
“you’re so cocky.”
“so are you!”
“hehe, i guess i am!” mizuki giggled. “but um, you really do look beautiful, ena.”
“o-oh…” her face flushed red. “um, you do too! i love your suit, it really suits you,” she winked.
“that was so bad.”
“it might be, but you still love me!”
“i don’t know if i do after that joke.”
ena huffed, gripping the bouquet of flowers tighter in her hand. “ahem! all rise,” the pastor said.
after all the necessary things, it was finally time to be wedded. “and finally, do you, mizuki akiyama, take ena shinonome, to be your lawfully wedded wife forever and ever, with no regrets?” mizuki gulped before answering.
“i do.”
“and do you,” he turned to ena, “ena shinonome, take mizuki akiyama, to be your lawfully wedded spouse forever and ever, with no regrets?”
“i do,” she said with no hesitation.
the pastor smiled. “you may now kiss the bride.”
mizuki smiled widely, pulling ena in for a kiss. as soon as their lips touched, they heard laughter and clapping in the background. ena could distinctly hear mafuyu yelling their names, which made ena smile and she didn’t know why.
they both pulled apart, pressing each other’s forehead against one another. “i love you, ena, i’m so glad you said yes.”
“i love you too, my mizuki, i’m glad you asked me.”
after the wedding ceremony, everyone went outside to enjoy some cake and food and dance a bit. but while they all were dancing, some fireworks went off. everyone’s attention went up to the sky. and the fireworks clearly said:
what a happy day for mizuena! don’t break the bed tonight ;)
“ehh….”
“mizuki, who was in charge of the fireworks again…?”
“urm…rui…”
“i knew it.”
