Chapter Text
There was a knock on the door. "What's up Jubal?" "Well..." Isobel raised her eyebrows. His pace of entering the office was a little slower than usual, as if hesitating. Maybe it wasn't about work, but she decided not to rush.
"Isobel... I actually want to ask you for a favor..."
He minced in a way that made her want to laugh.
"You know Abby took Spanish lessons recently, but she didn't do very well on her recent quizzes, and you know how terrible my Spanish is... You're the best person I know in Spanish, and I don't know who else to turn to for help..."
Isobel looked down slightly to hide her blush. He touched the back of his head and cast his eyes on the ground beside her. Perhaps she could not look him in the eye because of the fact that she was about to say no. She was thinking about her reason for refusing. It was already Thursday today, and it was really inappropriate to disturb someone's plans for the weekend with no advance making. He should have never asked her. He did not want to continue this conversation and heard her refusal, but it was the way it was, he had to.
"…if you have time this weekend, could you tutor Abby?"
"Sure. I haven't seen Abby and Tyler for a while." He looked at Isobel, who was smiling back at him. His eyes flashed with surprise and joy of getting a positive reply, which made her heart warm and filled with joy.
"I don't know how to thank you."
"You can save it till Abby makes some progress on the next quiz."
"I owe you a big favor." Jubal chuckled.
