Work Text:
Phil sat on the couch in Clint's and Pippa's apartment watching the morning news and drinking a cup of black coffee.
"Where's Daddy?" Pippa asked, frowning at her Poppy.
"The Avengers got called out," Phil said.
"The Avengers Assembled?" Pippa asked. "Daddy always wakes me up if that happens."
"We thought since I was here and it was a school day that you should get some sleep."
"Do you know how to get me ready for school?" Pippa asked.
"I'm sure I can work it out," Phil said.
Poppy's bottom lip began to quiver and tears dribble down her cheeks. "Jarvis, will you please get Miss Lucy on the phone?"
"Of cours," Jarvis said.
"Whose Miss Lucy?" Phil asked.
"You don't even know my teacher's name," Pippa said. 'I want my Daddy."
"Pippa, are you okay," Miss Lucy asked.
"Daddy usually wakes me up if he gets Assembled, but my Poppy said he'd watch me," Pippa said.
"Is your Poppy there?" Miss Lucy asked.
"Uha" Pippa said, "but, he doesn't know how to twist my hair or make me breakfast. It's not his fault, he's just new."
"Miss Lucy," Phil said, "I'm sure I can work it out."
"I'm sure you can, too," Miss Lucy said. "Clint texted me over the weekend and let me know that you weren't as deceased as everyone thought. That's going to take an adjustment period for everyone. After school I'll bring her school work from today and her homework. She won't get behind and if there's anything that she doesn't understand I can help her at recess or after school and if her Daddy and the team get back, there's usually someone who can help her. "
"She's not getting special treatment?" Phil asked.
"No, she's getting the treatment that she needs." Miss Lucy said.
