Work Text:
"Are you going to go seep, Poppy?" Pippa asked"
Clint tried not to laugh, but Pippa wasn't wrong. Phil did look sleepy. "I could lay down next to you," Clint said. "I could read to you."
"Did you get rid of my books?" Phil asked.
"No," Clint said. "I saved all your books for Pippa. Did you want me to read something to you?"
"I wouldn't say no to The Hound Of The Baskervilles," Phil said.
"What's that?" Pippa asked.
"Sherlock," Clint said.
"The story with the giant dog with the eyes that glow?" Pippa asked.
"Wouldn't she be scared?" Phil asked.
"You need to get to know her better," Clint said. "She's made of sterner stuff than that. Why down't you lay down and I'll go get the book. Do you want me to read to you, too, Pip?"
"Yes, pees, Daddy," Pippa said, running in the direction of her bedroom. When she found her needle work she knocked on her Daddy's and Poppy's bedroom door.
"Come in, Pip," Clint called. "Good job."
"I membered," Pippa said.
"Yes, you did," Clint said.
Pippa hopped up on her Daddy's and Poppy's bed with her needle work.
"You taught her cross stitch already," Phil said.
"I like it, Poppy," Pippa said. "Do you think it's pretty?"
"I do," Phil said. "I think she looks like Natasha."
"Me, too," Pippa said. "She does ballet ike the lady."
Clint smiled at his and Phil's red-haired daughter and asked, "Are you ready for me to read?"
"Pees," Pippa said, "Poppy might fall seep if you don't."
"When your Poppy falls asleep," Clint said, "why don't you go play with your Uncle Tony in the garage. He probably misses you lots."
"He might need science help, too," Pippa said.
"It wouldn't surprise me," Clint said.
