Chapter Text
The year is 2034.
The hellsing manor is shining under the bright daylight as the sun rays bounce off the cold white stone walls.
"Today's a truly beautiful day, Sir Integra."
A maid of hellsing says as she brings a cup of morning tea to Integra's table.
"What time is it?"
Integra asks the maid as she flips through some documents in front of her.
"11 in the morning, Sir," the maid says, standing in front of the office table with both hands behind her back.
"11 already? Well, I suppose our guest will arrive very soon." She puffs the last bits of her burning cigar and puts it out on the ashtray at the end of her table.
"Yes, Sir," the maid replies, bows and slowly turns on her heels to walk out of the office.
As the maid closes the door, Integra hears a low vibration sound. A chuckle spreading through the walls.
Integra looks at the calendar sitting at the right corner of the table.
As she doesn't pay attention, it only grows louder and louder until she raises her gaze up to meet her servants.
His glowing red eyes, visible from that one dark corner of the room where light could not reach because of the big bookshelf standing tall close by.
"Don't dare set foot outside of your room until I give you permission to, understood?"
A few seconds of silence, that feels like a minute, follow by Integra's repeated words, yet again, "Understood, servant?!"
A low grumble creeps up to Integra's ears as his aura leaves the room with words,
"Yes, master."
Integra loudly sighs and turns her gaze back to her work.
-
The time reads 5 in the afternoon as the sun is slowly setting down closer to the horizon.
Maids and butlers fully emerged in their daily work: Dinner preperations, cleaning the mansion, setting the table, adding wood to fireplaces for the upcoming night.
Integra, seated in her office, works on some additional paperwork regarding her incoming guest.
2 knocks on the door of Integra's office make her shift her gaze from her work to the butler walking in and standing at the doorstep.
"The guest has arrived at the gate.
The car will arrive at the main entrance in one minute, Sir," the butler says, not moving an inch, awaiting for further orders.
"Good, let's meet her then,"
Integra says as she sets down the paperwork on her desk and stands up to walk down to the front door.
Two maids and Seras are standing in the hall, awaiting Integra and the butler to come down from the second floor.
As they approach, Integra says, "Seras, I didn't expected you to be up so early," raising her eyebrow in surprise.
Seras laughs, flashing a glimpse of her pronounced canine teeth, her red uniform tightly fitting her youthful vampiric figure.
"Today was quite loud and busy. I was tossing and turning the whole time, I couldn't get any rest. Besides, I wanted to know what all this fuss is about," she says with a smile on her face.
"You'll see very soon," Integra says as they all hear the car arrive at the manor.
"It's time," the butler says.
On Integra's nod, he opens the front door wide.
All of the gathered walk out to be greeted by the driver as he walks around the car and opens the car's back door.
A young man steps out and bows down to Integra.
"Sir! I'm Miguel Escarra. It's an honor to meet you," Miguel says and steps to the side of the car.
Right after, a young lady steps out, wearing a long black dress down to her knees and black heels.
Her blue eyes meet Integra's as she walks closer to the front door steps, her dark brown hair swaying in the light August breeze.
"Sir Integra Fairbook Wingates Hellsing,"
she says with a husky toned voice.
"Dame Maria Hellsing II."
Integra answers like it's a game of charades.
"Hellsing?" Seras widens her eyes.
Maria and Integra smiles.
"It's very nice to finally meet the great Sir Integra herself," Maria says.
"Yes, it's very nice to have you here. I'm sure you must be hungry. Let's leave the butlers to carry the luggage and come to dine with me, you must be tired after the long flight."
-
As the Hellsing's quietly dine, the manor seems to have calmed down from the excitement of a new guest.
After all, it's been 35 years since Seras became a member of the Hellsing Organization.
"Sir Penwood have asked me to welcome you in England in his name. He's outside of the country for a while but he promised to do so himself as soon as he returns." Integra breaks the silence during dinner.
"Thank you very much. I was really looking forward to this. You don't get this kind of opportunity every day," Maria replies, putting down the silverware.
"As I was saying in the letter, you're an eligible person to be my successor of the Hellsing Organisation," she says, relaxed in her seat, holding a glass of wine.
"Yes Sir. I don't intendon failing you or the Hellsing family," Maria replies with a serious face and a hint of pride curling the corners of her lips.
"Then what are your intentions, Dame Hellsing,"
Integra asks, putting down her glass of wine which a maid soon comes to refill.
"To serve and protect. To keep the good name of Hellsing, make my mother proud and to bring peace to my father." Maria stands up straight and tall. Chin up with an unbreakable eye contact with Integra.
Integra smiles. Her shoulders relax, it seems like a heavy burden suddenly falls off of her heart.
She closes her eye and nods in approval.
"Welcome to the Hellsing Organization, Miss Maria."
Maria sits back down and continues to dine with Integra.
After some time, the room gets awkwardly silent. The tension of future pressure Maria has brought upon herself, fills her chest with uncomfortable warmth.
The silence, however, gets broken by the main butler and Miguel walking in.
"Ah just in time, Daniel. I was about to call for you."
"Sir. The guest room is prepared," he says.
"Very well. You've had quite the long journey. I'm sure you're exhausted. I'll give you some time to adjust to the timezone and the manor.
I still got some work left to do so in the meantime, get yourself comfortable and settle in." She stands up from her chair and leaves for the door.
"Daniel, will you show Maria to her room?"
she says, turning back to Daniel.
"Yes Sir."
Integra slightly nods and signs to the maid to bring the wine with her upstairs.
Miguel holds the door open for Integra. Without any further word, she walks through and turns to leave to her office.
Miguel and Daniel accompany Maria to her room. They talk very little on their way through the hallways.
"Must've been quite a long flight,"
Daniel says, opening the door to Maria's room located on the second floor of the mansion's right wing.
"7 hours, with additional one hour delay," Miguel replies with a sigh of exhaustion.
"It was extremely difficult to try to sleep during the flight. There was a child screaming in the seat few rows behind us." Maria groans and rolls her eyes.
"Well, sleep tight then. One of the maids will come wake you up in the morning," Daniel says, closing the door with a soft click.
He then accompanies Miguel to his room located on the other end of the hallway.
"I hope you're prepared for hard work mr. Escarra. This organization needs people with strong willpower to keep everything running smoothly." Daniel politely informs him of the weight of the responsibility.
Miguel's bright hazel eyes widen, and a smile paints his youthful face.
"Sir, yes Sir!"
-
Maria wakes in the middle of the night at the uncomfortable feeling of her dress rolled and twisted.
She sits up with a groan and unties the ribbon of her dress on her back, letting it fall.
She crosses her arms and takes off her dress from the bottom when she feels like she's being watched.
She stops and turns around couple of times, scanning the room for any signs of movement. But she can't see anything.
The moonlight muffled from behind the clouds barely lights up the dim bedroom.
Maria continues and lifts her dress in a swift motion, throwing it to the ground.
A big figure stares at her from the corner of the room. But with her hair in front of her eyes she quickly brushes it back with her fingers and blinks twice very quickly.
The figure is gone. She convinces herself she is still sleeping, and so she shrugs it off and falls back on her bed. Falling asleep soon after.
The dark figure reappears back in the corner, not revealing itself in any shape or form other than a low velvety voice.
"So you can sense me little human...How interesting."
