“Whatcha reading?” Eddie queried, leaning over his shoulder.
“Maurice,” Steve hummed, turning his head a little, stealing a glance at Eddie. He just didn’t suspect he’d see the other’s eyes widen, lips parting a little. And then there it was - the fleeting smile, with so much fondness behind it. Shivers went down Steve’s spine as Eddie leaned back, fingers pulling on his curls.
“It’s a good read.” That was all he said before reaching for the black nail polish.
It took Steve a moment to realise why Eddie seemed so flabbergasted.
The book was about forbidden love. Between two men.
