They found it, The server room. They just need to find the evidence they were looking for and then get out as soon as possible. Their group had met the intern, Sakamata Chloe. They fought and won with Zeta taking most of the damage causing her to lose an eye.
Kobo, Kaela, and Zeta had spent hours trying to foil the plans of this secret organization. At last, They found it. The information they needed to show to the others so that they may act accordingly. What they found in the data was disturbing. It wasn't just about taking over the world, There was something else that gave them goosebumps. They closed and grabbed the data then ran. After they ran out the door, They didn't know that one of the members had already found Chloe's body.
An alarm blared and the three panicked and started to sprint even faster. Right behind them is HoloX' security, Kazama Iroha. Her hand on her katana, Ready to strike as soon as she gets close. Her face filled with rage as she starts to catch up to them.
Before Iroha could reach them, Kobo threw her last bottle of rainwater. She controlled it as to stop Iroha in her tracks. She slashes the first attempt but fails to defend against the second. This causes her to be sent back a couple of meters away from the group.
They continue to run down the halls without talking as to save breath. Closed every door they walk into so that Iroha is slowed down. They kept at it for a few more minutes and they've noticed that there were now two people pursuing them. The one in charge of R&D, Hakui Koyori.
They were getting near the exit, it was just a few more seconds of running. Then they realized it. One of them were atleast a few inches away from a blade slashing down on them. Zeta quickly dodges to the side and hits a control panel, causing a large blast proof window to fall and stop the pursuer in their tracks.
Banging from the other side could be heard, It was Kobo and Kaela trying to get Zeta out of there. Kobo screams as she tries to open it from the other side.
"HEY OPEN THE DOOR!!! ZETA, YOU'VE LOCKED YOURSELF IN THERE"
With a cheeky grin on her face, she said:
"That's what I was hoping for...Now Go! Get out and let them know."
"We can't just leave you here!"
Kaela shouted as she slammed on the door. Zeta places her hand on the window, with a tear in her eye, and said :
"This type of thing is common for secret agents now go on without me. I'll catch up with you"
The two reluctantly nodded their heads and decided to run away. She drew a heart on the glass pane and waved goodbye. She turns to see Koyori and Iroha waiting for her to finish.
"Thanks for waiting for me..."
"You gave Chloe the chance to say goodbye to us, It'd be distasteful to not give you the same treatment."
Iroha slowly pulls out a piece of paper covered in blood. In it was Chloe's final words to her friends.
"That paper is similar to the paper in that clipboard of yours that you always carried around with. So I assume you gave her atleast a few minutes more to live to atleast write down her final words."
Koyori pointed at Zeta's clipboard behind her. Koyori's face was showing gratitude but at the same time anger. It was a mix of emotions.
"So...Let's begin."
The three clashed and fought one another. However, There was one thing that was bugging Zeta. Where is the executive officer and their founder?
Kaela and Kobo ran out of the building and into the woods, thinking that they would be safe there.
"We shouldn't have left her there. We should have helped."
"We need to keep going."
"SHE'LL DIE IF WE LEAVE HER"
"WE'D ALL BE DEAD IF WE STAYED. THAT'S WHY SHE MADE THE DECISION"
"Now, now. Let's calm down okay?"
Another voice sent chills down their spine. Someone had already caught up to them. They look up and see the executive officer, Takane Lui, running along the tree branches.
"You see, I myself am trying to hold back my anger because I may as well have massacred the both of you right here, right now. So, I have a proposition."
The two stopped dead in their tracks as Lui jumped down. She seemed to be calm as she stood there looking at the other two.
"I either kill the both of you here or give me that drive and the both of you can go home safely."
"After Zeta's sacrifice? I don't think so."
"An eye for an eye, you know? You kill one of our members we kill one of yours."
Kobo and Kaela looked at each other. They can't let her sacrfice be in vain.
"Kobo...I need you to take this and run."
"Wh...What the hell are you talking about? Didn't you hear what Zeta said? Both of us to live. You're coming with."
"No, I won't die here. I'll catch up I promise."
Kaela smiles at Kobo, assuring her that she'll be alright. Kobo reluctantly grabbed the information and summoned the rain.
"So...That's your choice"
Lui's soft laughter somehow echoed into the rainy forest. Kobo start's to manipulate the rain water beneath her to slide across at high speeds as she tries to get past Lui.
"AS IF I'D LET YOU GET AWAY."
Lui was about to strike Kobo but Kaela blocked it with her hammer.
"You'll be fighting me."
"Tsk...No matter. Someone else will take of her."
"Oh shit...KOBO-"
Before Kaela could rush after Kobo, She was hit with Lui's whip causing her to stumble down onto the ground.
"Khhh...Why you..."
"Didn't you say I was your opponent?"
Lui smugly grins at her opponent and twirls her spear around. Kaela grins back and they begin their duel.
Kobo, after sliding through the wet rainforest, had finally gotten into a clearing. She was getting close to a safe spot, Area 15. Before she could get to the middle of the clearing, An explosion happens in front of her. Someone was in the middle of the crater and it was the founder of HoloX, Laplus Darkness.
"I suggest that you give up that thing you have in your hands."
The smoke dispersed and shows Laplus standing at the very center of it with a serious expression.
"You're lucky that Lui had reasoned that I shouldn't kill you but I wont hesitate to get rid of you if you don't give that up."
"You want my answer? Here's my answer."
Kobo clasped her hand and the rain fell even harder. Laplus' face covered by the rain but Kobo could feel the rage in the silhouette she sees. This was her last resort, Heavy rainfall is the strongest rain she can summon. In every fight she went to, The harder the rain that falls the easier it is for her to take cover and manipulate rainwater. She just has to buy time and wait for the people nearby to come over. The concentrated rain should be enough to get their attention.
"Don't say I didn't give you a choice."
Laplus pointed her finger into the air and shot a purple beam of light. The beam traveled upwards until it reached the sky and made a massive explosion. This explosion had moved all the clouds away which effectively stopped the rain. The resulting explosion even evaporated most of the rain water in the area.
Kobo's heart sank as that was her only line of defense for someone as monstrous as Laplus. Her ace and only hope of buying time was destroyed instantaneously.
"No...way..."
Kobo dropped down on her knees with an empty look on her face.
"That despairing face of yours...That would've been enough of a revenge for me and leave but you still have that USB stick...*sigh* You can have it, You can't even stop it since it's already underway."
"..."
Kobo was silent the entire time. She couldn't even think of what to do at that point. She despaired and thinks of what might've happened to the other two. She thinks that she failed the mission and that everyone's sacrifice was all for naught. Her head hurts, it was spinning, she was getting lightheaded. Until a loud noise shook her back to reality.
BOOOOOOOOOM
It was in the direction of HoloX' base. Smoke clouds rose from the distance.
"...Ze...ta?..."
"KOYORI!! IROHA!!!! Tsk... Before I leave, Go visit your penguin looking friend they're probably both done fighting now."
Kobo's eyes lit up once again after hearing that. She musters the last of her strength and summons a light shower. She skates through the forest and sees an injured Kaela walking towards her.
"Kaela!!!"
She hugs her tight and cries on her shoulder. Clutching onto her as to reassure herself that she wasn't imagining her.
"Hey there...You ok?"
"Mhmm"
"Alright...Let's get going and give this to the others. Then we may rest."
The two walked out of the forest and continued walking home.
Meanwhile, The explosion at the base caught both of the members off-guard. This resulted in them taking serious damage but not enough to incapacitate them.
"How tough are these people...Huff...Huff..."
Zeta was hanging on for dear life. She was losing blood quick mostly because of her arm getting cut clean off. Her last ditch effort was a grenade but that didn't even work as the other two are still up and ready to fight.
"That's enough."
Before Zeta could even react, A spear goes through her chest piercing her heart.
"KHK....sh...i..t...I..am...no..t...done...ye..t."
She slowly reaches out for her gun and tries to aim it.
"Yes you are"
Laplus popped up right beside Zeta and dealt the finishing blow with a lazer beam straight through her head. Right before the hit had landed, Zeta saw her friends smiling at her and saying they are proud of her. She smiled and accepted her fate.
She falls down to the floor without a pulse.
"So...It's over?"
Iroha regains her balance with her sword trying to stand up.
"Probably so...She was one tough opponent."
Koyori carefully walked towards Zeta and examines her. She checked her pulse and everything.
"She fought to the very end even with her arm cut off. It was pretty annoying. So...Are we done here?"
Laplus walked to Lui for confirmation.
"Yes. But we have much to do. Now that they know of our plan we have to make haste. Rest for today, Mourn tomorrow but we will be even more busy the days afterwards."
Lui sat down after her small speech, Mentally exhausted after what had transpired today.
Kobo and Kaela reported their findings to their higher-ups and went to sleep.
The remaining members of HoloX slept as well as the night crept in except for Lui. She was managing everything that had happened and made a failsafe to their plan. It was already shown so she thought to herself that she might as well.
The next day, The two groups mourned for their friends as the rain falls upon them naturally.
