Work Text:
Sun and Moon had been together for several years now. They had gotten used to living a more domestic life and were glad to be free from the reigns of Fazbear Entertainment. They still kept in touch with the others and were currently living with Solar Eclipse and his partner. (No spoilers so I won't tell you too much about his partner.)
During their time together they had learned a thing or two about each other's sleeping habits.
For example, Moon had come home late from his security job at the warehouse. It was probably around three in the morning, and Moondrop normally got home by one. He was exhausted but had to cover his mouth to keep from busting up laughing.
Sun had fallen asleep in the living room to the apartment. Their head was propped up on the couch and they still had a book in their lap.
Moon attempted to collect himself before walking in and quietly closing the door behind him. He then noticed the TV was still going so he shut that off. He then took Sun's book and rested it on the table before going to grab their favorite blanket.
As he brought it over to the solar mutant he started looking it over. He really was going to need to get them a new one. This thing had to be at least 20 years old and it was starting to fray at the ends. Nevertheless, he knew it was Sun's favorite so he used it to cover them up before heading to their room to get some sleep himself.
Sun had woke up the next morning a bit dazed and confused. They didn't remember falling asleep last night. Actually the last thing they remembered was sitting here waiting for Moon to get back home. Oh, wait Moon!
They glanced around the room for the other before finally noticing the blanket they were covered up with. They definitely didn't have this last night? Then it came to them. Moon must have come home to find Sun asleep and covered them up before going to bed.
Sun then glanced at their phone and seen it was only 6 am. Well, shit. I'm going back to bed if it's that early! And so they got up, folded their blanket, and went to join Moon in their bedroom.
On another occasion Sun had been overly exhausted from working at the daycare they owned with Eclipse. Eclipse had decided to let his younger sibling go home early because he could tell they were completely drained. This left him and Moon to clean the daycare, which took them about an hour, even with the inevitable bickering and teasing between the two of them.
When the duo went back home to the apartment they found Sun asleep on the dining room table. And not simply like they had fallen asleep sitting there. No. They were full on curled up on top of the table.
Eclipse immediately started busting up laughing, tears coming to his eyes because he was laughing so hard. Moon glared at his best friend and attempted to swat the back of his head. Eclipse expertly dodged without even looking at Moon, then gave the lunar mutant a smirk before heading to his own bedroom.
Moon rolled his eyes and looked over to see Sun stirring. He chuckled and went over to his partner and picked them up off of the table. Sun curled into Moon and muttered something. Moon looked down at Sun curiously because he knew for a fact Sun never talked in their sleep.
"What was that, Sunshine?"
"... said imma kill Eclipse when I get up latuh..."
Moon had to chuckle at this. Sun usually didn't have any distinct or heavy accent. When they were really tired, though, you could hear what sounded like a New York accent. Moon also knew that Eclipse was in for it because Sun had no mercy for their older brother when he pissed them off, even if it was just a little bit of irritation.
Sure Sun could fall asleep literally anywhere which left them in some weird situations. But they never talked in their sleep, therefore they never said anything embarrassing when they couldn't mentally control it. Moon on the other hand, well, lets just say that Sun always helped him make sure he didn't fall asleep in public. When they were alone, however, Sun always used it to their advantage.
On one such occasion Moon had come home from his second job absolutely exhausted. Apparently a bunch of stupid teenagers had decided to try and break into the warehouse. Moon was also the only one working because almost everyone had called off. This meant that on top of having to chase of a bunch of unruly teenagers he also had to work overtime until the next shift security guards came in.
Sun went to make the two of them tea to help Moon relax. While the water was boiling they also made a mental note to talk to Eclipse later. It seemed like the two of them would have some brotherly bonding time while scaring the shit out of some teens. Perhaps they should pay a visit to some of Moon's co-workers as well.
Just then Sun was pulled from their thoughts as the kettle started whistling. They pulled it off the stove and poured some of the boiling water in each of their cups. They then grabbed a box of Moon's favorite cookies and set everything on a tray. They carried it to their bedroom and opened the door to find their boyfriend already fast asleep.
They simply smiled and set the tray on the bed side table before going back and silently closing the door. Sun then grabbed the current book they were reading and sat in bed next to Moon. As they read their book they reached over and grabbed their mug and started sipping on their tea. Suddenly they heard a moan next to them and they paused, mug still to their lips. Sun glanced over and seen their boyfriend was still fast asleep.
Odd, they though, giving a shrug. Sun went back to their book without a second thought. They definitely were vaulted the second time if happened.
Moon shifted a bit and then Sun heard him moan out their name. Sun immediately set their mug on the table next to them, the book following close behind. They then looked over at their boyfriend, still fast asleep, and smirked.
"Yes, my darling?"
"Sunnnnyy..." Moon moaned out in response.
Sun put a fist to their mouth and coughed, trying not to laugh. Moon would have died from embarrassment if he knew this was happening. Sun then leaned down to the other's ear. They then whispered, "What do we say, Moonshine?"
"please.... Sunny... Pleaaaase." Moon begged.
Sun was caught off guard and collapsed beside their boyfriend while laughing so hard their stomach hurt. Moon shifted, waking up and Sun simply wrapped their arms around their boyfriend, pulling him close. They buried their face in his shoulder as they still couldn't control their laughing.
Moon looked back at his partner, disorientated and confused. What was so funny to them? "Sun...? What are you laughing about?"
Sun went into another fit of giggles before calming down enough to respond. "Moonshine, you were talking in your sleep again."
"Oh, I'm really sorry. What made you laugh so hard though?" Moon replied, turning on his back so that he could see Sun better. Sun hummed and shifted so that they were laying on their boyfriend's chest. They started drawing small shaped on Moon's chest before finally responding.
"Do you remember what you were dreaming about Moony?" Moon looked at them quizzically. That was a weird response to his question but okay. He thought about it for a moment before it dawned on him.
Moon immediately let out groan and covered his face in embarrassment. Sun went into another fit of giggles as they saw a blush creep up all the way to Moon's ears.
Sun then propped themself up on their elbows and pulled Moon's hands away from his face. They leaned in close and whispered in his ear, "I thought it was rather adorable." Moon's face turned an even brighter shade of red and Sun chuckled before closing their eyes and kissing Moon.
Moon let out a little whine, but instantly relaxed beneath Sun and closed his eyes. Sun let go of Moon's wrists and placed one hand on their boyfriend's chest. They placed their other hand on Moon's face and started rubbing small circles with their thumb.
After a moment they pulled away and flopped down on their back next to Moon. Sun then reached over and lifted Moon up, positioning him so that he was lying on their chest.
Sun wrapped their arms tightly around Moon and started humming softly. They then used one hand to rub his back and the other to softly pet his head. Slowly Sun lulled Moon to sleep, holding him just like they had the night they reunited all those years ago.
Sun still often struggled with their insomnia. Sure it was ten times better with their Moonshine around, but it still found ways to arise. They also tended to be drawn to heat and would often wake up if their heat source left. This combined one time during nap time in their daycare.
It was nap time and Sun had helped crowd all of the little ones to the designated area. The Solar bit let out a big yawn as they watched the little ones gather their things.
Last night Moon had to work the entire night at his security job. He didn't end up getting home until 6am and Sun had to get ready to go to work at the daycare. Both Moon and Eclipse had tried to convince them to stay home but they refused. The two of them even tried to convince Foxy to talk some sense into them. The fox refused of course because they knew Sun wouldn't listen.
He also knew the real reason Sun couldn't sleep and was refusing to stay home.
You see, Foxy was Sun's best friend. Sun trusted him a lot and told him something's they wouldn't tell anyone else. Not even Moon knew about everything.
At one point Sun had been talking to Foxy after an incident that occurred the day they had moved to the Mega Pizzaplex. They had told the fox about having separation anxiety and how they found it really hard to sleep. Foxy had tried to convince Sun to tell Moon about it but to no avail.
Even now, years later, Sun was still determined to suffer in silence. Foxy, however, was determined to look after his friend. No, he wouldn't go behind Sun's back and tell Moon. That was something they would only resort to doing if Sun was in immediate danger somehow. Instead, they were going to find their own ways to make sure Sun got the rest they needed.
As Moon walked over for nap time he spotted Sun standing there, practically falling asleep. He then scooped up his partner and brought them over to lay beside him in his chair. It was a pale blue and shaped like a crescent moon. It was designed so that a child could sleep next to him if they were having trouble staying asleep. Today, however, Sun might have been the one using it.
The lights then went out as they were set to do. Moon began singing to the children as they drifted asleep. Sun quickly fell asleep beside him as well.
Once the children were asleep Moon got up to go help put the really tiny ones to sleep in the other room. He didn't notice Sun start shifting from the loss of heat. He also didn't notice the sly little fox slipping in behind him.
Foxy slunk over to where Sun was currently sleeping. He knew they wouldn't be asleep for long unless they got some source of heat. Thus, Foxy had brought a heated blanket with him. He had already turned it on so that it would be warm by the time he got there.
He covered Sun up with the blanket and the solar mutant immediately relaxed and drifted right back into sleep. Foxy then ran over to the computers and shut off the timer for the lights. They quickly wrote a note so that someone would remember to turn it back on tomorrow.
Fox then crept over to where the alarm clock for the children was. Of course it had been put on a shelf, however. The 5'6" fox was currently cursing their height. Everything in this place was too fucking high because it was built for the ridiculously tall celestial giants that roamed this fucking place. Sun was the only exception, standing at about 5'11", and often times got pissed off at how high things were as well.
Foxy quickly went and found a chair and brought it over. He then climbed up to the shelf and could just barely reach the alarm clock. He then quickly shut it off, mere minutes before it was set to go off. Foxy let out a sigh of relief and wiped the sweat of his forehead. Eclipse was definitely getting an ear full about how high the selves are.
But for now Foxy went over and quietly woke the little kids. He told each of them to be quiet, explaining that Mx. Sun was asleep and needed their rest. The kids giggled a bit and happily obliged, wanting to make sure that Mx. Sun got the rest they needed.
Foxy then led the kids single-file over to their Pirates Cove. Sure, it was normally designated for the wee little ones, with soft padding everywhere and a bunch of baby toys. Foxy had thought ahead, however, and had prepared a bunch of supplies for the kids to color, play trains, or even build with blocks. After taking a quick head count to be sure everyone was there Foxy headed over to the, rather large, group of children that had taken to coloring.
"Aye! What do ye maties be making over 'ere?"
"Oh! We're making pictures for Sun!" A girl that, if Foxy remembered correctly, was named Eliza responded.
"Yeah! You said he- I mean they were super tired so we wanted to make them something to help them feel better!" One of the boys replied. Foxy didn't know his name since he must have been newer. The fox didn't work with the older kids all too often. He enjoyed it when he did though.
Aye. It was days like this that made Foxy love doing what he did. The kids could be so sweet sometimes. Always trying to help when they could. He found it rather endearing how much they cared for Sunrise.
Once nap time had ended over with the babies and toddlers, Moon went over to the other side of the daycare to check on Sun. He knew their partner was exhausted and wanted to be sure everything was okay. When he peeked in, however, the lights were still off. Odd. They should have turned on a while ago.
Moon's irises switched colors with the whites of his eyes. His pupils then turned into cat-like slits as he activated his night vision. It was only then that he noticed the solar mutant fast asleep. He couldn't hold back as his whip-like tail unwrapped itself from his waist and started swishing around happily behind him. His Starlight really was too cute.
But now he had to focus on finding out where the children were. He closed the door and deactivated his night vision, his eyes returning back to normal. He then lifted his shirt up and wrapped his tail around his waist, the blue, crescent-shaped tip resting gentle on his back. Moon then pulled his shirt down over it.
He decided to head over to Pirates Cove to see if Foxy knew where the kids went. He didn't expect to find all of them playing together there. It seemed Foxy was at the helm of this. He had taken a group up onto the deck of one of the model ships and was watching them while they pretended to be pirates.
The more Moon thought about it someone must have covered Sunrise up with a blanket. Someone also would have had to turn off the light timers, shut off the alarm, and quietly gather the children into Pirates Cove. This was most definitely Foxy's doing. He'd have to thank them later.
Just then a little girl came up to Moon. "Mister Moon! Mister Moon!"
Moon chuckled. "Yes Ella?" he replied once he got down on his knees so that they were eye to eye.
"A group of me and the others are making pictures to help Mx. Sun feel better! You should come join us!"
"Oh?" The children really could surprise him with how kind they were. "Of course I'll come join you, sweetheart."
The little girl then grabbed onto Moon's hand and pulled him over to the coloring circle they had set up. He was immediately welcomed in and the kids passed him paper and a crayon. He chuckled and laid on His stomach so that he could join them.
When it was time to go home Foxy lined the kids up with little to no hassle. They had even gotten the kids to pick up any toys they had been playing with. Moon had to admit he was impressed. Normally the kids gave him and Sun hell about having to leave. It seemed like Foxy really had things under control.
Moon went to go sit at the front desk so he could check the kids out but Foxy started shooing him away. "Aye! Go ye wee scalawag! Go be with her partner! We've got things under control! Aye maties?" Foxy looked back at the kids after asking his question.
All of the children gave a pirate salute and yelled out in unison, "Aye, aye Cap'in Foxy!"
Foxy chuckled and shooed Moon the rest of the way out of the front area. He then brought the kids behind the desk with him. The ones that made drawings for Sunrise all gathered around and gave them to Foxy. One of them, a regular named Ella, even handed him one that was from Moon. The fox chuckled and placed it on the top of the pile.
The kids helped Foxy as he checked each of them out. All of them were exceptionally well behaved for children, although Foxy did end up having to hide the stapler. Nevertheless, things went rather smoothly and everyone got out of the door on time.
Foxy immediately clocked out and went home. He was exhausted himself from taking care of all the kids. Unlike Sun, however, he was too old to give a damn and was going to take care of himself. Eclipse couldn't touch him anyways because Sun would have his brother's head.
While Foxy had taken care of checking out the children, Moon had decided to actually take his advice and go check on Sun. He found the other still fast asleep. He chuckled and walked over to his nap time chair.
He slid next to Sun and then pulled the other into his lap. He was surprised to find out Foxy must have covered Sun with a heated blanket. Damned fox thought of everything. He chuckled a bit before wrapping his arms around his partner who was still fast asleep.
After a moment of pondering he decided to unwrap his tail and rewrap it around Sun. Sunrise snuggled into his chest a bit more. Moon could have sworn he heard them let out a sigh, even in their sleep.
It seemed that all in all Foxy's plan had worked. Sunrise got the rest they needed and deserved. Even the kids had cooperated with him a lot better than he thought. Alls well that ends well.
Certainly the two of them had many more hilarious stories about their weird sleeping habits. I believe that something's are better left unsaid, however. We've seen some cute, funny, and all around outrageous stories about these two. And certainly we will hear many more in the future. Until next time. I bit you adieu.
