Summary
In foggy, interrupted, inescapable dreams, Jean sits on the floor of an old ruined church and stares up through the beams, through the darkness, into nothing. A small patch of nothing at all. He sits directly under it, and there is complete silence. It’s a weight lifted, and it’s a prison. The silence shuts down his thoughts, shuts down everything. He sits in a church and becomes nothing.
Through the nothing, a thought he knows isn’t his own comes to him and whispers in three days, Harry Du Bois will be dead.
