He Xuan had never expected to fall in love, much less with one of the most flamboyant people he had ever met.
But there was just something about Shi Qingxuan. He was beautiful, and he cared, and despite all of the craziness that was their shared history, he was a good guy.
“A’Xuan, A’Xuan~” Shi Qingxuan sang as he skipped his way. He Xuan looked up, silently offering him his arm. His beloved slid against his side, a content hum escaping him. “I’ve settled on a color for our bedroom! You really don’t mind if I redecorate?” He asked with a pout. It made his rouge covered lips appear even more kissable, and so he leaned down to kiss him.
“No. Decorate away.” He said, offering his love a rare smile. Shi Qingxuan rewarded him with a squeal, jumping up to hug him tightly.
“Thank you, beibei!” He cooed, pressing quick kisses to his cheek. He had no doubt that it left behind red kiss marks that would have all of his subordinates looking away in embarrassment. He Xuan tightened his hold on Shi Qingxuan’s waist, keeping him close just a little longer. When his beloved squirmed in his hold, he set him back on his feet.
--
His bedroom was now very…colorful. He Xuan was very grateful that he had mastered the art of keeping a straight face over the years because Shi Qingxuan was subtly bouncing up and down on his feet as he waited for his reaction.
Maybe it was just him, but he felt comforted by the dark blues, blacks, and pale greys that was the previous color pallet of this room. Now his bedspread was a bright red, with pale blue pillows. The walls had been painted yellow, and several pieces of his furniture were now white. The only black items that remained were his doors, the curtains covering the windows, and the rest of the furniture.
“Well? Don’t you love it?” Shi Qingxuan asked. He Xuan took in the excited look in his eye and focused on that instead.
“It really feels like you live here now.” He said truthfully. Shi Qingxuan beamed, shooting forward to jump into his arms. He Xuan caught him with ease, a genuine smile tugging at the corner of his mouth as his boyfriend began to ramble.
A little white lie here or there was definitely worth it for the smile that crossed Shi Qingxuan’s face.
--
Shi Qingxuan was not a graceful sleeper. He would take up as much of the bed as he wanted without the care for anyone else in it. When they were traveling together, it hadn’t been that much of an issue. Or at least He Xuan hadn’t noticed, even after they started sleeping together. The beds at inns were always too small, he thought.
Oh boy was he wrong.
“Your bed is so big! Just like you~” Shi Qingxuan flirted with a wink the first time he entered his bedroom. He Xuan rolled his eyes at that. He stepped forward a little before reaching out a hand and gently pushing Shi Qingxuan’s shoulder. As expected, he fell back with an indignant squawk. A huff of laughter escaped He Xuan, and he followed him down to the bed.
“Meanie.” Shi Qingxuan pouted. He Xuan leaned in to kiss the pout away, which of course rolled into them making out, and then fucking.
That night, he discovered the horror that was sharing a bed with Shi Qingxuan. He was abruptly dragged from his sleep by a hard kick to the back, followed by his face hitting the floor.
“What the fuck?” He growled, jumping to his feet. He was fully prepared to shake Shi Qingxuan awake to demand an explanation but froze at the sight before him.
Shi Qingxuan was wrapped around his pillow, a content smile on his lips as he nuzzled against it. He was on his belly with his legs spread wide, taking up the majority of the bed. With a small sigh, He Xuan resigned himself to sleeping in a guess room tonight.
--
The biggest change that Shi Qingxuan brought into his life was comfort. It wasn’t something He Xuan had experienced in a long time. Now if he had a hard day, he could seek Shi Qingxuan out.
Today he found him tending to his garden in a greenhouse that they had built. Shi Qingxuan was rambling softly to his plants, as he claimed that helped them grow.
“And can you believe that she slept with him?” He was gossiping to them. He paused when he noticed He Xuan enter the room, and he sent him a happy smile.
“Hi baobei!” The smile slipped and a concerned frown took its place. “Uh-oh. What’s wrong? You look upset.” He Xuan walked over, sitting on the ground next to him. He let out a sigh, thinking about how terrible his last meeting had went.
“I don’t want to talk about it.” He finally said. Shi Qingxuan nodded, reaching up to run a hand through his hair.
“Then we don’t have to.” He soothed. With a sharp tug, He Xuan was pulled into his beloved’s arms. A couple minutes later and the body he was leaning against became softer. He Xuan closed his eyes and buried his face in his partner’s chest, a tiny smile tugging at the corner of his lips when Shi Qingxuan let out a giggle.
She always claimed that she felt ticklish when he buried his face in her chest.
“My poor, big, strong man.” She cooed. “I’m sorry that your day took a turn for the worst. Want me to run you a bath, baobei?” She asked. He shook his head, a huff of laughter escaping him when Shi Qingxuan giggled again.
“No. I’m good here.” He said, closing his eyes again. Shi Qingxuan let out a content hum to let him know that she heard him before turning back to the plants.
“Now where was I? Oh! So yes, Lin Xunhe is a whore! Her husband deserves better.” Shi Qingxuan resumed her ranting.
He Xuan stayed there, comforted by his beloved’s presence. Yes, comfort was definitely the biggest change that their relationship brought into his life.
And he wouldn’t change that for anything.
