Summary
Zhongli always had Childe by his side, and Childe was by his, throughout their teenage years. It was simply a test of time, whether they could carry that bond into their adult lives and come true to each other about their feelings.
“Childe,” Zhongli blinks, spying Childe running over the horizon to him, a shit-eating grin on his face, same as whenever they’re about to engage in combat.
He has a hand raised, waving, like Zhongli is his old friend that he’s meeting by chance on this school field, behind the main building and out of sight. A pure, blue sky tops the grassy field. A light breeze sweeps Zhongli’s ponytail against his lower back. It was rather pleasant.
A pity then. That they will ruin it with violence.
Childe leaps past him, full of life and exuberance. “Let’s go!”
