Chapter Text
The lord of shades screamed in pain as the pale light enveloped them. Once again killed by a pale light after their ascension. However just like in the place of their birth, death was not truly the fate assigned to Ghost. The pale light grew brighter and brighter, the unified void screaming at the agony of its god. In the physical world, the might of the void destroyed the body of the god seeker, before being consumed by the pale glow of the delicate flower. No. I've made it this far. I've killed the radiance at her strongest. I can't just die to a stupid flower! They reached into the void, gripping the dream nail before striking through the veil between dreams and reality.
"I'm sorry we had to pull you out, but the portal was closing." Luz heard Eda say. They all looked at the portal. "What are those weird dream catcher things?" Luz asked. "I'm not sure, that wasn't happening before." The strange orbs of light began pouring out of the portal faster and faster, before someone else fell out just before the portal disappeared. They looked similar to King in a way, with a white skull-like head that contrasted their dirty gray cloak, as well as the rest of their body which was a deep black. "Woah, Luz do you know them?" King asked. "Why do they have... whatever this is?" Eda lifted a metal rod, with a dream catcher symbol on the end. Suddenly, the creature sat up and grabbed what Eda had just picked up off them before cloaking their entire figure in shadow and dashing away... only to trip on a rock and fall on to their face moments later. "Woah there little guy, we're not gonna hurt you." Luz told them as they stood up. They looked at Luz before she gasped "Oh my gosh, you're so cute!" she exclaimed before grabbing them as they squirmed and tried to escape. "Been there dude." King said in an almost sympathetic voice. "Uh, Luz, they may be cute, but they could be venomous or something, just because they're cute doesn't mean they're not dangerous." Eda said. "Yeah! They could have a giant sword or something!" Hooty exclaimed. "Hooty, don't be ridiculous, how could they have a- oh my goodness!" Luz yelled as the small creature pulled out a large, expertly crafted blade.
Ghost ran as fast as they could, the weird creature that had picked them up immediately dropped them, and they ran as fast as they could. Where do I go? Uh, that weird house looks like a good enough shelter! Ghost jumped up, the monarch wings now void based, allowing for longer flight, and shadow dashed through a window. Alright Ghost, let's just calm down and collect your thoughts. Where am I? No clue. How did I get here? Godhome, fifth pantheon, delicate flower. How do I get back? Also no clue. Is this place safe? Remains to be seen. "Alright buddy, time to answer some questions. Number one, who are you and why are you here?" The strange creature that had taken the dream nail from before asked them. Ghost had backed up into a corner, before tapping on their mask where a mouth would normally be. The creature sighed. "So you can't talk. Can you write?" The creature asked, before offering them paper. Okay, I just have to write and tell them about my situation. Wait can they even understand Hallowscript? Ghost soon discovered that they could not read Hallowscrpit after the creature took one look at the paper, then looked back at Ghost. "Okay, so I have no idea what this says. Can you just... draw?" Ghost picked up the pencil and began again.
Eda had no idea what the creature was trying to say. "Okay, you drew yourself, with an arrow pointing at a ghost... are you trying to say that you... are a ghost?" they shook their head. "Okay, you... can see ghosts!" They shook their head again. Eda sighed. "Okay... Luz! I need you to try to figure out what they're trying to say!" Eda yelled to Luz downstairs. "I'm coming up!" Luz yelled from halfway up the stairs. "Alright, I'm here. What's going on exactly?" Luz asked. "I'm trying to figure out what this drawing means. And it doesn't mean that they can talk to or see ghosts." Eda told Luz. Luz squinted, eyes tracing every line. "I think it means... I have no idea, we need a better communication method." Out of nowhere, the creature started poking at Luz's leg. "Huh? What's wrong?" They handed Luz the strange object that Eda had taken from them earlier. "Uh, what do I do with this?" A blade of light erupted from the top, startling both Luz and Eda. "Woah, okay! that was unexpected!" Eda said in surprise. The creature then drew themselves getting hit with the blade, and pointed to the drawing. "Wha- You want me to hit you with it? Won't that hurt?" Luz said confused. "I mean, I will, it's just, well... a bit strange." She took a deep breath before hitting the small creature.
Luz didn't know what to expect. What she definitely didn't expect was to hear a voice in her head upon using the strange weapon the creature had given her. Hi, my name is Ghost, I don't know what your name is, and that is the dream nail, it allows you to see other people's thoughts! "Woah! Well that's convenient!" Luz said "What do you think, Eda?" "What do I think of what? I have no idea what that did." Eda said, confusion evident in her voice. "Okay, let's go downstairs, then I can tell you, King, and Hooty." Eda still looked confused. "Okay, I'm just gonna trust that this will make more sense once you explain it." All three of them went downstairs to the living room, where King and Hooty were. "Oh hey! It's that weird thing that came out of the portal!" King said as he pointed at Ghost. Hooty however, was less happy about the guest. "Intruder! This is my territory!" Hooty screeched, before throwing himself at Ghost. "Hooty, no!" Luz said, before throwing a blanket over Hooty's head. "Darkness... you think I'm scared of you!?" Hooty then tried, and failed to get the blanket off himself. "Hooty, you can't attack people unless I say so." Eda said, removing the blanket from Hooty's head. "You win today, intruder, but I'll be watching you! I'll be watching..." Luz sighed. "Sorry about all that. Anyways, with that taken care of, everybody, this is Ghost!"
Ghost laid down on the couch, confused and exhausted from the day's events. Apparently, they were now somewhere called the Boiling Isles. Hooty, King, Eda, and Luz had promised to tell them more about where they were the next day. I can't wait that long! I need to know more about this place. Maybe I can use the dream nail on someone else to help me understand what's going on. Ghost smiled to themselves. I'll only be gone until morning, they'll never even know! And with that, they left the owl house with Dashmaster, Sharp Shadow, Quick Slash, Dream Wielder, Soul Catcher, and Steady Body equipped. They were ready to discover everything there was to discover about The Boiling Isles!
