It was another warm day in Pae's castle . The sun beat down upon the castle, the only sound being the chirping of birds inside the castle. There were quite a lot of people then normal. Citrine, Pyrite, Keir, Iris and Pansy were all in the living room sitting down eating, drinking and even sleeping as Pae read a story to them all softly.
Citrine was sitting down quietly as she sipped her tea smiling 'perfect..', she giggled quietly, earning a glare from her sibling who was sitting very close to a certain zombie. "Something wrong dear Pansy?" Citrine asked grinning at them "Shut up Mom's reading" they frowned
"Just ignore her.." Iris leaned close to Pansy whispering softly to them. they just rolled their eyes at their sister sticking their tongue out before turning their attention back to their mom. who'd stopped reading clearly she was annoyed by the interruption but smiled nonetheless.
"As I was saying..." Pae looked up from her book, her eyes slightly twitching "The frog ate the princess! eating her whole muahahaha!" she fixed her round glasses, grinning widely.
Citrine laughed softly, making her girlfriend that was knocked out beside her suddenly flinch awake "W..What!?" she jolted up surprised."Be quiet!" the god whispered yelled softly pushing her partner back down beside her gently caressing her sharp horns making her quietly purr "But...ugh what's going on?" Pyrite asked. still half asleep reaching for her partner's hand on her horn. "Mother was reading us one of her weekly stories, remember?" Citrine put her other hand on top of the demon's hand and smiled sheepishly.
"Oh yeah I remember I always fall asleep when she reads to us.." Pyrite replied, opening her eyes "oh." She quickly noticed Pae stopped talking again and all eyes were on the two.
"If you're going to keep interrupting, I suggest you two get out." Keir turned her head giving them a hard glare, very annoyed with the constant interruptions.
Quietly Pansy pointed and busted out laughing very quietly making Iris laugh as well "aha!!" they snickered
"Sorry..." They both apologized looking down at their tea cups, Citrine's was empty while Pyrite's was still full and warm. "Oh it's fine, don't be so hard on them. Love, they can talk while I'm reading" Pae smiled at the two before continuing to read her story, it was true that she didn't really mind small interruptions. Hours before the two started loudly talking, Pansy started snoring. They all fell asleep listening to the gentle voice read the story to them except the zombie. Iris had to wake Pansy up and they were very embarrassed.
"Well I can't focus on you and those two keep talking so loudly" Keir blinked frantically at her lover. Pae blushed hearing this "Keir you've been looking straight at me the entire time not even giving those two the glance" Pae explained fixing her glasses. "Well..I know Pansy can't focus" Keir directed the conversation elsewhere Pae looked over at her child.
Pansy blinked at all the sudden attention on them "Huh…?" Iris poked the stitches on her face trying to look natural. "You tricked me! Pansy is fine" Pae snapped her head back at Keir. The woman just shrugged her shoulders grinning, Pae glared down at Keir sitting comfortably in her chair.
"...Thank you Mother," Citrine whispered, looking away from her, clearly embarrassed. "You're welcome Darling" Pae smiled softly, she looked at her daughter for a minute with a smile then looked away again back at Keir."Is anyone hungry?" Keir suddenly asked opening one of her eyes slowly
Both Pyrite and Iris perked up hearing this. Iris jolted up raising her hand "Yes!" she said very loudly. Pyrite jumped up "Yesss I could eat!!" Both were very excited about eating..
the two suddenly yelling startled Pansy making them instinctively put their hands around their ears.
Pansy had four pairs of ears. It was a blessing and curse they were very sensitive to loud noises. Pansy hated it when Pyrite talked because of how loud she was they'd have to hide their ears in their hair or plug in something into their ears to hear her.
"Loud Iris!" They whispered frowning at her
"Oh sorry..sorry I was hungry.." Iris bent down to meet their eyes softly whispering apologies to them. Pansy lowered their head slightly "Alright alright I forgive you" Pansy muttered softly pushing her face away from theirs making the Pyrite and Citrine snicker, "Awww look at those two so adorable ahaha!" Pyrite pointed and laughed at them
Pansy glared at her, but it was a little less harsh than usual "I'll kill you." They grumbled, causing her to laugh harder, "Really? you could never you're so tiny!" Citrine laughed even harder hearing that comment. Pansy just rolled their eyes
"Inside voice!" Iris pointed at Pyrite and Citrine "Woah woah calm down big guy!" Pyrite walked over to the zombie patting her shoulder the two were closely the same height Pyrite's horns made her seem taller "I am calm Pyrite use your inside voices remember Pansy's ears are super sensitive!" Iris gently flicked the demon's hands away.
The demon huffed, rolling her eyes not noticing her partner trying to tell her it was the truth "I didn't even know the creature had ears, I've never seen them!" Pyrite exclaimed looking over at Pansy
"What?" They looked confused and clearly weren't paying any attention to the conversation going on with the three. "Let me see those ears!" Pyrite walked a bit closer to the vampire smiling widely "Ohoho this is gonna be good hey sunshine what do you think they look like?" Pyrite turned to look back at her girlfriend who'd slowly walked to Pansy as well.
"I've already seen them, actually I always see them when I'm with Pansy," Citrine admitted shyly, making Pansy smile at them. "WHAT!?" the demon gasped dramatically, holding her hand over her heart. "How come..How come I haven't seen them!?" Pyrite wiped her eyes like tears threatened to spill out.
"Maybe they aren't that comfortable with you yet?" Citrine questioned
"Or maybe they don't trust you." Iris suggested crossing her arms
"Oh that is sooo not true Pansy trusts me alot! isn't that right buddy" Pyrite looked down at the creature who was fidgeting with their hair comfortably laying down on the couch "I don't know." they answered without bothering to look up.
"But we're buddies! best buds, the best of friends!" Pyrite frowned hearing this had she just assumed the two were close this entire time? 'All those times did I make them genuinely uncomfortable?' Pyrite thought frowning even more.
"Oh…" Citrine whispered, noticing Pyrite's mood go instantly down "Why don't we make that up then! Let's spend some time together Iris we haven't in a while right?" Citrine put her hands on her hips smiling, Iris nodded smiling back "Yes it has been a while let's try that new black tea you bought last time?" Citrine perked up at this "You remembered?!" she said happily, wanting to jump up and down frantically "Of course I never thought I would ever try tea..I always thought it was gross until you made me try some" The zombie tapped their hand lightly picking the stitch on it.
"Alright let's go! You two have fun and don't destroy this place alright byeee!" Citrine waved at the two before grabbing the zombies hand running out the living room and out the door.
"Alright…" Pyrite muttered nervously looking at Keir "Hmm?" She tilted her head curiously "What should we do?" Pyrite asked, looking down at Pansy pointing at them then herself nervously. "You should ask them not me, now we've got stuff to do!" Keir got up from her chair
"Where are you going mother?" Pansy looked up finally looking at their mother worryingly
"We're going out on a little date!" Pae chimed in happily "Can I come?" Pansy hesitantly asked "No.." They both said "Have fun with Pyrite, call me if you need me" Keir warmly said, only making them frown "Fine I will.."
Slowly the two also left but not before Pae reassured Pansy hugging and kissing their forehead telling them they will return back to them.
"Will those two be alright?" Pae frowned, a shiver going up her spine remembering the last time those two spent quality time together. "Of course, let them have fun.." Keir said, smiling gently at her wife "Fine.." She huffed, turning her head away.
Back in Pae's home sat the demon sitting down beside the creature nervously poking their long tail "Sooo…um what do you want to do?" Pyrite turned to look at Pansy "I don't..know" they replied thinking to themselves.
Pyrite poked her tail harder, becoming more nervous. 'this awkward tension..I hate it' she thought, raising her knees to rest her head on 'with anybody else I'd come up with a conversation or something we could do..but why can't I do that now?' she questioned.
"We're very different.." Pyrite whispered "Really? I thought..we were sort of alike in a way maybe." Pansy whispered back. "How? I'm loud and you're quiet, I hate reading and you like reading, I eat bones and you like..eat blood?" Pansy chuckled at the last part "You mean drink blood? I am a vampire after all".
"Yeah..your fangs are cool looking" Pyrite smiled warmly "Really? I always thought they were scary. Many people think they're too sharp" Pansy looked surprised at the compliment "Yeah they're kinda like mine except mine are more..pointy? sharply? y'know CHOMP" Pyrite opened her mouth showing off her very sharp teeth, Pansy floated up slightly to take a quick peep "Woww very sharp, very cool!" They happily said
"Yeeeaaah!!" Pyrite yelled excitedly before covering her mouth. Pansy raised an eyebrow "Huh?" the creature floated back down beside her "Sorry sorry inside voice!" the demon suddenly remembered the zombies words and Pansy's very sensitive ears "Oh it's fine they're covered so it doesn't hurt much" the creature reassured them happily
Pyrite calmed down slowly hearing this "Ah..good so um im kinda hungry" as she said this her stomach loudly grumbled the demon rubbed her stomach embarrassed "Oh okay do you..need help finding or fixing your food??" the creature questioned
"It's bones.." Pyrite raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"Oh..yeah! well I'm not really hungry so i'll just watch you eat" Pansy smiled widely
'Creeepy.' The demon instantly looked away from them walking into the kitchen.
Pansy laid their hands on their lap staring down at them 'Hungry..' they thought 'Am I hungry?' the creature questioned looking up seeing Pyrite looking around frantically, clearly confused.
"Hey uh buddy can you help me out where are the bones?!" Pyrite yelled from the kitchen, "Ah I can help with tha-" they got up from the couch instantly hitting the floor face front not even a second later Pyrite came running back into the living room "SHIT oh shit shit shit oh my god!" she yelled getting down to pick up the creature but they slapped her hands away. "I'm fine"
"Are you sure? What happened? Did you trip over something??" Pyrite eyed Pansy very concerned "you fell pretty hard.." she muttered to herself. "I..just fell when I got up i'm fine really Pyrite" Pansy tried to stand slowly raising their arms up but they couldn't lift themselves up.
Pyrite grabbed Pansy's hand "Come on!" But Pansy shook her hand away "No I can do it" they tried again and..pitifully failed again. Pansy stared at the ground, clearly frustrated, huffing quietly "Why can't I do it..?" they whispered
"Do..you need help?" Pyrite asked, taking a different approach "No." Pansy hissed through their teeth, they turned away from her avoiding eye contact. Pyrite sighed sliding away from them
Pansy looked back down at the floor then looked up seeing if anyone had seen them, 'this is so embarrassing' they thought clenching their mouth shut. 'embarrassing embarrassing embarrassing' they internally screamed at themselves
"Nobody else is here just..us" Pyrite said, noticing their nervous glances and her eyes filled with worry, they stared at each other for a few moments not really knowing how to react to their current situation. Pyrite wanted to help them but she didn't want to force the help onto them and she didn't want to leave them alone. Pansy needed help standing obviously but they shouldn't need help. Pansy started fidgeting and playing with their long curly hair. "Hey it's okay to ask for help" Pyrite randomly said hoping that could encourage them. They whispered softly. Iris could barely hear them but noticed their mouths moving, tears started filling Pansy's eyes. They wanted to say something but couldn't find any words. Pyrite figured this was a very hard subject for them and she waited patiently for them to continue.
Their body started shaking slightly. They tried to speak again but all that came out was a weak whisper "Can..can you help me..?" Pyrite frowned seeing her buddy like this. "Of course" she exclaimed gently grabbing their arm pulling them up successfully this time
Pansy stumbled a bit holding tight to the demon "I got you little buddy don't worry!" she happily whispered to them "Sorry...sorry..just...." she felt them trimble softly in her hold tearing up "Just.." her grip became tighter on Pansy
"Hungry" they admitted Pyrite felt like rolling her eyes hearing this 'no wonder they didn't..float' "I knew it.." Pyrite leaned down to meet Pansy's eyes, her horns softly poking them. "You liar! You were hungry, you're out of energy, that's why you aren't floating" Pansy rolled their eyes "Whatever!" They huffed trying to shake her off. Pyrite ignored this and kept her firm grip on them and guided them to the kitchen. Pansy leaned against a chair as Pyrite opened the fridge throwing out a blood bag at them Pansy caught it with ease instantly stabbing their teeth inside. and started talking about video games
Neither of them noticed everyone coming back and going to the dining room. Quietly Pae, Keir, Citrine and Iris were in the dining room right next to the kitchen. eating their separate meals
"Seems like they're getting along quite well" Pae suddenly smiled listening to the demon and the creature ramble about random things. "That's great news! i'm glad they get more along now" Citrine smiled warmly seeing her girlfriend and her sibling happy and not fighting each other.
"Yeah more friends, more people to hang out with " Keir and Pae said together Citrine nodded "Yes..by the way I've noticed they haven't really touched their blood bags.." Iris said while chewing on a finger "I'm aware..I was going to remind them to drink some today but I think Pyrite took care of that for me" Keir cackled "That's good!" Pae chimed in eating her salad
"Yeah really good now we all can have tea parties.." Citrine mumbled resting her chin on her hand leaning on the table "You have tea parties??" The zombie raised an eyebrow. "All the time with those two but..separately" Citrine explained "Yeah I've been to one and they started arguing and spilled the tea and that was it for me" Keir replied "Still think your tea is gross" she playfully teased sticking out her tongue causing Pae to giggle.
Citrine rolled her eyes hearing that last comment "Anyways I should go check on those two"
Keir stood up stretching out her arms "Allow me" she yawned and stretched her neck "Come here" she commanded her voice echoed suddenly black smoke started rising up behind her her piercing white and red eyes glimmering brightly illuminating. slowly a familiar faces appeared
swiftly Pansy spinned gracefully, humming quietly before leaning back, putting their left arm on their hip and pointing at Citrine, successfully posing. While Pyrite leaned forward with her arms stretched out showing off her red nails that matched her eyes. "You called?" both said completely in sync
"Wha-" Citrine was startled suddenly seeing the two appear in their..random poses "Glad you're here everyone's worried about you" Pae smiled at Pansy softly "Sorry to worry everyone but I am fine!" the creature stated proudly still in their pose. "Yeah they're fine, you guys are worried whores!" Pyrite also stated proudly not noticing everyone gasp
"She meant worrywart!" Pansy quickly said Pyrite smiled at them "Thanks little buddy that's what I meant" Pansy smiled back.
"Aww look at you two!" Pae got up to hug them but Pansy pulled out a small bomb from their eye throwing it down on the floor white smoke covered the dinning room "Huh!?" Pyrite looked around confused but Pansy gently grabbed her wrist "We gotta get outta here Mom gives the tightest hugs we're gonna die! let's go let's go!" Pyrite nodded and the two fled the house climbing up to sit on the roof
"Hehe I didn't know you were so dramatic and playful like me little buddy" Pyrite said as she tried to catch her breath "Yeah..me neither but it was fun y'know talking and hanging out with you" Pansy muttered their ears flopped out from their hair making the demon gasp "Oh my gosh!! your ears, they're so cool!" Pyrite exclaimed making sure to whisper looking at each one carefully
"Thanks I like your horns, they're amazing especially when you use your weapon they glow!" Pansy smiled before looking away embarrassed "Oh you noticed that?? hehe pretty fascinating riiight" she smiled as her skin ripped open and her horns glowed "Wow yeah really fascinating! your arm too" Pyrite lifted up her right arm it was shaped like a scythe and had an eye on the edge. "Yepp wanna see some cool tricks?"
"YES!!" Pansy excitedly nodded 'she's so cool!' secretly Pansy had always been curious about the demon but never knew how to start up a conversation with her they always thought they were too different..
Gracefully the demon swinged around her weapon to her new and favorite little buddy
