Cindy knew staying in Hammerhead was a risk. Paw Paw had been convinced to move to Lestallum, but she wasn’t ready to give up and leave her home without a fight. There was still plenty to be done, keeping the Hunter’s trucks serviced and making sure every vehicle on the road had fully functional daemon repelling lights.
It was easier to stay knowing the Hunters had made Hammerhead one of their strategic bases. Which meant it was one of the highest priorities for the power grid to keep up and running. The tragic power failure that had devastated Galdin Quay was still fresh on everyone’s mind, but Cindy felt reassured that with so many Hunters around, things would be okay.
Cindy lost herself in her work and fought to maintain as much of a normal routine as possible, but it was hard not to feel worn down by the constant pressure, and fear of the dark. Everyone did their part to help keep their world functioning, and Cindy was no exception. The Hunters, Glaives, and Crownsguard filtered in and out around her, and Cindy made sure their vehicles were as tip top as they could possibly be.
She missed the sun and the warmth and security the daylight provided. There was so much she had taken for granted before. But Cindy had hope that one day she’d see the sun again. So until that day came, she just needed to keep on working to help keep the folks around her safe. One vehicle at a time.
