For Izuku Midoriya and the rest of class 1-A, today had been relatively normal, classes were in full swing, work studies were going on, and Aizawa was as grumpy as usual. Morning classes had just finished and he was walking with Todoroki to the cafeteria. The two tone boy looked over at his green haired friend, who seemed more lost in thought than usual, so he asked, “Midoriya, you seem on edge. Are you nervous for the upcoming English exam?”
“Not really, today just feels like it’s a bit… bland I guess.”
“What do you mean?”
“Like, the past couple weeks have been the same, wake up, classes, homework, sleep, rinse repeat”
“What about whenever you spend time with Hatsume, seeing as she’s your girlfriend I’d assume that’s not bland.”
“Yeah, but she’s been trying to make some upgrades for me and she’s been so focused on it. Half the time I’ve seen her recently has been because Power Loader-sensei has asked me to make sure she leaves at night. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy the time I spend with Mei, her boundless enthusiasm, her desire to make all of us better heroes, it’s why I found myself so attracted to her. But, I want when I spend time with her be more than just me asking her to come back to the dorms and having to leave once she gets to the 1-H dorm room”
“Then why don’t one of you two simply go to the other’s room and spend time together?”
“Because Mei doesn’t realize how tired she actually is until she leaves the support labs, I’ve had to carry her back to her dorms on more than one occasion”
“Well, then, why not bring her to lunch? She usually stays in the support lab, so why not make sure she eats properly as well as spend time with her.”
Izuku stopped walking for a moment, then he facepalmed, “I’m an idiot, thanks Todoroki, I appreciate the advice”
Todoroki nodded, “I’ll be on my way now, I’ll see you in the cafeteria”
Izuku turned the corner and headed towards the support labs. Todoroki entered the cafeteria and went straight to the lunch line, which was still relatively short. Getting his soba he walked over to the table where several of his classmates were already seated, namely Iida and Uraraka, who waved at him, “Todoroki, weren’t you walking with Deku, where is he?”
“He vented some frustration about wanting to spend more time with Hatsume, but lacking time as she’s working on improving his equipment. I offered the suggestion of having lunch with her, so he’s going to get her from the support labs”
As he explained Izuku’s whereabouts several other members of class 1-A joined the table, namely Ashido and Yaoyorozu, the former of whom squealed in delight at his suggestion, the latter commented, “Oh how wonderful, perhaps Midoriya could convince Hatsume to do that more often, especially with how difficult it is to find time to go off campus for outings not related to work studies”
“Y-yeah” Uraraka said, looking slightly dejected. Her crush on Midoriya was common knowledge at this point, the greenette even saying how he was flattered, but didn’t want to risk their friendship should their relationship not work out. Lunch continued on relatively normally, Todoroki slurped his soba when he was interrupted by manic laughter from an arrogant blond, and not the one he tolerated.
“ Oho what's this? Class 1-L-A-me in all their arrogance. But what's this? Are you lost because I don't see your bush headed, wonder boy mascot? Did he finally realize that the rest of you were far inferior and is trying to find better company”
The collective group rolled their eyes at Monoma’s comment, Todoroki coming to his friend’s defense, “Midoriya is simply meeting up with Hatsume before they join us”
Monoma retorts with, “That pink haired grease monkey, and here I thought he had standards,”
Ashido and Yaoyorozu took exception to the blond’s comment, the former slamming her palms on the table as she stood up, saying, “Hey, don’t diss Midori or his girlfriend. Hatsume may be different, but she cares about her work and she cares about Midori, just hope you don’t need any equipment from her anytime soon”
“Now why would I ask for the help of someone as unhinged as she is when I could simply ask a professional? Though I shouldn’t be surprised, you 1-A fools have never been particularly bright”
To the surprise of literally the entire table, Uraraka spoke up next, “Deku’s a hell of a lot smarter than you are Monoma, so if he thinks Hatsume is the person to go to for support gear, then I’ll trust him,”
Monoma still looked unphased, “Trust him all you like, but following him is asking for defeat,”
At this point Iida stood up, and turned to look at Monoma, and began lecturing him as his arm chopped, “Monoma, it is extremely disrespectful to speak of anyone in such a manner, not to mention unbecoming of a hero. I ask that you…”
Off to the side Mina looked at Yaoyorozu, “Where’s Kendo, she usually keeps him in line,”
“She’s at her work study right now,”
“Ahhh, well hopefully somebody from 1-B shows up to stop him”
As Iida continued to lecture Monoma, the blond picked up a half of a creme pie that Yaoyorozu had picked up and tossed it at Iida, hitting him square in the face. At which point not only did Iida stop talking but froze mid chop, his arm at approximately a 75-degree angle. Uraraka poked at the class president asking, “Iida, are you okay?” However Iida.EXE had stopped responding. At this point things were starting to get out of hand, Todoroki didn’t want Midoriya to have to show up to this so he tried to deescalate the situation, “Monoma, keep your comments about Midoriya, Hatsume, and our class in general to yourself, we don’t want or need to hear them,”
Apparently this was the wrong thing to say as Monoma looked at him, and proceeded to slap his bowl of soba off the table. Todoroki watched as his bowl of soba hit the ground, the bowl making a resounding clang as the contents splayed out on the floor, the sauce beginning to trickle away from the pile of noodles. Todoroki tightened his fist and turned to look at Monoma, who continued to look smugly at the half and half boy. Around him, his classmates as well as the few from 1-B who’d shown up to try and deal with Monoma stepped back. There was an unspoken rule amongst 1-A, never mess with Todoroki when he has soba. Monoma had not only messed with Todoroki, he’d messed with his soba. The silence lasted 15 seconds before the temperature dropped and Monoma came face to face with ice.
Izuku half expected the door to blast off its hinges the moment he touched it, after all, Mei made almost as many explosions as Katsuki. Fortunately for Izuku the door simply opened but while there was no explosion, he still found himself suddenly tackled by his girlfriend. Who was beaming proudly at him, “Izuku! Perfect timing! I just finished it”
Izuku’s eyes widened, “Really, Mei that’s amazing,” he said as he wrapped his arms around his girlfriend pulling her into a hug, “We can test them out after class today”
Mei’s grin fell, “Why not now?”
“Well, that’s why I came here, I wanted to have lunch with you”
Mei’s grin returned with a vengeance, “You know, I usually eat in the lab, but if it’s with you, I think I’d like that”
With that the pair headed towards the cafeteria hand in hand. As they got close they noticed a large number of people leaving the cafeteria, there was still plenty of time before lunch and no alarms had been raised so the duo were a bit confused. As they entered the cafeteria their confusion vanished.
The cafeteria was a warzone, at one end a giant pyramid of tables had been constructed and atop it was Monoma, channeling his inner DIO as he posed. Throughout the pyramid were several other Class B members including Yanagi, Kodai, Kaibara, Kamakiri, Awase, and Tetsutetsu. Monoma concluded his cackling fit and started singing (poorly), “I’m king of the castle~ I’m king of the castle~”
Opposite the pyramid of class B stood several of Izuku’s classmates, Iida was lying on the ground, his face covered in whipped cream, his arm raised as though he were about to chop it down. Behind Izuku and Mei the doors closed and all the students turned to notice that the two of them had just entered as well as how they were holding hands. It was at this point that Mina stepped up and pointed at Monoma, “You robbed Midori and his girlfriend of a nice lunch together! Unforgivable, justice will be swift, justice will be painful!” She said as she picked up a glob of rice, “It will be DELICIOUS!”
As she concluded her speech, the rest of class A cheered and aimed towards class B. Monoma and the rest of class B jumped down from the pyramid, Monoma declaring, “Off with their heads”
At this point Yanagi used her quirk to pick up several pieces of food and pass them to Kodai who enlarged them before Yanagi started shooting them at the others, meanwhile Kamakiri, Kaibara, and Tetsutetsu simply ran at their opponents. As the first of the food got close, Todoroki put up an ice wall to shield his class from the onslaught. However the combined efforts of the giant food and the cutting, punching and drilling from the melee fighters the wall didn’t last long. Before Todoroki could put up another one, Kaibara was in his face, arm spinning. Before they could make contact, Kaibara was yanked away by a piece of tape from Sero, who tossed him into a wall, the tape boy was then hit by Kamakiri and knocked against the wall. Meanwhile Mina was masterfully dodging the embiggened food that Yanagi had continued to air mail to them, as she acted as a decoy, Tokoyami was using Dark Shadow to pick up the enlarged food and send it back to the ghost girl. Unfortunately Kodai returned all the food to normal size before it hit them so the worst it did was dirty their uniforms. Tetsutetsu had gone after Uraraka, however he unknowingly wandered into a trap as Uraraka had floated several tables and then proceeded to return their gravity and pin Tetsutetsu. This only bought the gravity defying girl a few seconds as the steel boy quickly got up from underneath where he’d been pinned. Tetsutetsu picked up a piece of mochi from the floor and prepared to toss it at Uraraka when a black claw wrapped around him and proceeded to toss him back towards the pyramid. Yanagi caught him and dropped him safely on the ground. Dark Shadow picked up two large chunks of ice and was about to throw them when Kaibara jumped him and got him in a Full Nelson, screaming, “Welcome to suplex city Nevermore” as he suplexed the bird headed boy. The food that had been in Dark Shadow’s hand flew and splattered Yaoyorozu who’d been tending to Iida rather than fighting, however upon being hit, she let out a shrill cry before creating a small staff and joining the fray.
Izuku and Mei had been watching all of this from the sidelines, and Mei turned to Izuku, “Shouldn’t you help your classmates?”
“I want to, but then who’d eat lunch with you? I’m just waiting for a break in the action so I can go get food”
“Ahh, also I’m surprised a teacher hasn’t shown up yet”
“Mei, Nezu is probably watching the fight through the security cameras with a bowl of popcorn and a cup of tea,”
As if to answer his question the intercom turned on and the sound of maniacal laughter filled the cafeteria, “See,”
Everyone had stopped when the rat god came over the intercom. When the moment passed Tetsutetsu rushed at Todoroki, only to be shot back directly at Monoma by an ice spear. Meanwhile Mina was dodging all of Kamakiri’s slashes. The alien girl tossed some acid onto the mantis boy's blades, the boy had to remove his blade to keep them from being burned along with his skin. Momo meanwhile was going after Kaibara who’d dunked his arms in a bucket of water and was spraying it everywhere. The raven haired heiress finally managed to get a clean strike against the spiral being, hitting him over the head with her staff, at which point he crumpled to the ground. However both she and Mina were soon hit by an enlarged steak from Yanagi. Kamakiri and Monoma then turned their attention to Uraraka, who despite having learned Gunhead Martial Arts, was unable to win the two on one, as a steel clad Monoma decked her across the face shortly after she removed Kamakiri’s gravity. Meanwhile Tokoyami had recovered from being suplexed by Kaibara and he and Todoroki renewed their efforts, though Monoma had switched to Yanagi’s quirk and quickly used it to pin the peppermint haired boy to the wall with several tables and chairs. Tokoyami picked up the piece of steak that had downed Momo and Mina and threw it back at Yanagi and Kodai, Yanagi used her quirk to deflect the projectile, which flew right towards Izuku and Mei. Izuku tried to pull her out of the way but she still ended up getting hit on the arm and was thrown into the nearby wall.
Izuku looked at Mei where she lay, she wasn’t hurt by any means, but a switch suddenly flipped. Green lightning began to crackle along his skin through his uniform. He jumped from where he stood and intercepted another piece of enlarged meat, kicking it back at Yanagi and Kodai, who had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit. Monoma looked at Izuku and simply cackled, “So the amazing 1-A could’t win a fight without the help of their green savior?”
“Shut it you blonde wannabe Kirby,” there was venom in Izuku’s voice as he said this. All the members of 1-B turned to look at him, a few realizing their mistake and hoping to avoid Izuku’s wrath, “I tried to be patient, I tried to let you guys work this out, hoping you would finish so I could get food so I could go spend some time with my girlfriend before Heroics this afternoon. But my patience has just been spent. So I’m going to end this, and then I’m going to go take those two katsudon bentos that are still in one piece, and I’m going to leave, okay?”
Monoma began to laugh, but then Izuku moved. Grabbing Kaibara under one arm and spinning him around before tossing them at Yanagi and Kodai, the two girls were unable to effectively counter due to the speed the boy was tossed at. The three students slammed into the pyramid which shook but didn’t fall. At this point Izuku channeled 15% of One for All through his body and took off, heading straight for Monoma and the others. As Izuku closed in, the sheer speed he moved at created a vortex that pulled in all the food, trays, and plates that surrounded him into the air, as well as Kamakiri who was still floating. He charged right through the pyramid, toppling it right onto Monoma, before jumping out of the way. Monoma, Yanagi, Kaibara, and Kodai just barely managed to avoid the falling tables, only to then be swept up by the vortex of food that was headed at them. The vortex slammed the five students into the wall before painting them with food. As Izuku landed, the five students started sliding down the wall. Izuku looked over to his classmates, who were looking at him with a mixture of awe and fear.
Dusting off his shirt, he walked over and picked up the two katsudon bentos, placing a few notes as payment there and calmly walked over to Mei. Picking her up she whispered something in his ear, and he started turning red as the two of them walked out of the cafeteria, Izuku saying, “Let’s go eat in the courtyard”
Minutes later Aizawa and Midnight entered the cafeteria, and looked at the two groups of students, “What the hell happened here?”
The students looked between one another before Mina spoke up, “Well you see, Monoma was being Monoma, he spilled Todoroki’s soba, somebody threw a pie in Iida’s face,” the pink skinned girl pointed at the still catatonic Iida, “and then it started getting heated, it wasn’t until Midori and Hatsume showed up that things got wild”
“What did Problem Child and his partner in crime do?”
Todoroki stepped in, “Nothing actually, they were just waiting patiently, it wasn’t until Hatsume got hit that Midoriya stepped in, he’s the reason that Class B looks like,” Todoroki paused as he directed the attention of the teachers towards the now colorful Class B students, “that”
Aizawa pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed, “Where is the problem child now?”
Yaoyorozu spoke up, “I believe he said he was taking Hatsume to the courtyard so they could eat lunch together, but please Sensei, don’t disturb them, the two of them haven’t had the ability to spend much time together over the past couple weeks”
Beside him, Aizawa heard Midnight coo as Yaoyorozu explained his problem child’s situation. Returning his attention to the students, “Well, take all the unconscious students to Recovery Girl, then come back to class, I’ll discuss your punishment with Vlad and Nezu.
Izuku and Mei sat under the tree where they’d eaten lunch, hand in hand and smiling. Mei turned to Izuku, “I’m still surprised you suddenly went ballistic on them when I got hit, I’m not even hurt, see,” she pointed to her arm where she’d been hit, no noticeable bruise.
Izuku smiled, “Well, I guess I just really didn’t like the thought of you getting hurt,”
“You’re sweet Izuku” Mei said as she leaned against him, “so are we still going to test out my new babies this afternoon?”
“Absolutely”
