Chapter Text
One day, Dream walked outside in the frost bitten air. He was cold. The world was cold. Everything was cold. Why must everything be so cold and barren? His life has meant nothing since George died.
He’s gone. How does he comprehend that the love of his life has passed away. Passed away? That’s such a way to sugarcoat death. Death is cold. It’s nothing more than a permanent darkness.
He fought in the war. The war? What was it all for? He threw his life away to fight for the trees. The trees the Onceler had stolen.
But it was all over now. It was time to move on, but for some reason, Dream still felt trapped in the past. His past actions, his regrets… After mulling it over for a while, he finally decided it was time to put one foot in front of the other.
The forest now restored, swayed in the slight breeze. Snow fell lightly from the sky, covering the already barren land with a layer of white powder. Being in this forest brought many memories. Dream missed the warmth of having his loved ones around him.
Travelling further into the trees, Dream spotted a small town in the distance. As he wandered further, he managed to read a sign. “Snowdin Town”
Dream walks to the edge of town and watches the snow fall. As he walks, he spots a rundown shack. Desperate for a place to stay but despondent, Dream walks into the house.
“Who are you???” said a mysterious figure.
Dream turns suddenly in a panic. He turns and peers into the dark eye sockets of the figure. The figure is a skeleton dressed in a fluffy blue and white jacket with basketball shorts. A weird combination for the middle of a snow filled town. Dream flushes, but as he looks at the figure he slowly recognizes him.
“Sans? It’s been so long…” Dream spoke in barely a whisper. His voice was hoarse from the long years he had endured.
“Wait… Dream?”
“Ah so you do remember me, old friend”
A tear slipped down Sans’ eyesocket. (A/N: Can skeletons even cry lul???)
“How could I ever forget?”
Dream and Sans looked at each other for a long while. And then they started to laugh. “Hahahha” The laughter died down and the only sound left was the crakling of the fireplace.
Then they both went to speak at the same time. They stumbled on their words.
“Oh I’m sorry Dream, you can go first” Sans said in a chuckle.
“No really its okay, you can go.”
So Sans spoke.
“ Dream I’m so glad to see you after all this time. It’s been so lonely, you have no idea what I’ve gone through”
Dream looked at Sans with sad eyes.
“I could say the same. George is dead”
“WHAT?” yelled Sans. “Why didn’t anyone tell me?”
Dream paused for a moment.
“Well, after your big fight I didn’t think you’d want to know anything about him.”
Sans took a heavy breath.
“George was my friend too, in fact i would even say he was my friend first.”
Dream chuckled sadly.
“That’s just the thing Sans, George and I weren't just friends…”
Sans gasped, “Wait you were besties?.”
Then Dream says, “We were more than besties ;)”
Sans gasped again, “That’s kinda sus”
Sans grabbed Dream by the collar of his shirt. “Why didn’t you tell me you loved him?”
“Because Sans, after what happened with the Onceler, I couldn’t trust anybody. I’m sorry” Tears streamed down Dream’s face.
Sans let him go slowly. He looked down, ashamed of his outburst.
“You’re right. I was wrong to judge you so harshly”
“Sans… it’s okay. I was angry for so long, but i don’t feel anything anymore”
Sans was quiet. Really quiet.
“I missed you so much, Dream, some drinks for old times sake?”
Dream nods sadly.
They began walking to the tavern. Then Dream passes out and his head hit the wall. BOOM.
“Oh my hotdog! Dream are you okay?”
Dream blinks in a daze. “Yes”
“What happened to you Dream?”
Dream quietly whispers in a teary voice, “It’s been a long journey, Sans. And this has been the coldest night” (A/N: HAHA get it guys it’s the title lol)
