Work Text:

Bad slowly stacked his books up and slid them into the back of his locker, proceeding to close it and lock it.
He had maybe 3 minutes to grab his bag and head over to his next class,

Health Education Class was next on his schedule, he grumbled and started walking towards it.
As much as he wanted to run to lessen his chances of being late, he decided he'd rather not make a fool of himself.

"Bad!" He heard a familiar voice call out, his mood immediately changed as he was tackled into a hug

"Wh- Skeppy! Hi-" He giggled, Skeppy smiled as he hugged Bad from behind

"What class you goin to?" Skeppy asked, eyeing down at the books Bad was carrying
"Health Education, I heard they're assigning this big project today" Bad huffed

"Oh that's a boring class," Skeppy made a 'bleh' sound as he stuck out his tongue
"I'm off to English, I know. Sooo much better" Skeppy drew out sarcastically,

He laughed and rolled his eyes in response

"Obviously, you better pray they don't assign you another essay" Bad smirked, Skeppy glaring at him

Skeppy crossed his arms and huffed.

"It was one time okay," He grumbled, sticking out his tongue
"Plus you said you didn't mind helping soo" He blinked innocently

"Yes S'geppy, I don't mind helping. But you should've told me I needed to read a book ahead of time" He glared
"Trueee, but still"

Bad rolled his eyes
"You're impossible."

"Am I?" Skeppy drew out the last word, staring at Bad for a second

"Yep." Bad stuck with his answer, Skeppy pouted slightly, leaning on his shoulder and frowning at him
Bad tried his best to keep a straight face, but Skeppy only looked more sad by the second

"..sometimes" Bad finally folded, Skeppy started giggling as he shook Bad slightly
"See!"

"Shut up shut up-" Bad grumbled as he pushed Skeppy off of him.
"You love mee, you love meeee" Skeppy sang, Bad punching him in the shoulder

"I do NOT" He grumbled defensively, Skeppy keeping a smug look at his face

"Hey lovebirds! You're gonna be late to class" Quackity laughing from across the hall, he was heading to the same class as Bad
"Ah crud! I was already late-" Bad whined

"Dude just run to class," Skeppy threw his bag over his shoulder
"No! Everyone will stare at me- what if I trip??" Bad gasped as if it was the worst thought he'd ever had

Skeppy giggled a bit, rolling his eyes
"You'll be fine, here I'll run with you" Skeppy offered

"Skeppy your class is not anywhere near mine you'll be late."
"Better me then you," Skeppy shrugged

"You've already been late twice this week! You're gonna get detention." Bad reminded Skeppy, but he only shrugged it off again

"I don't mind, now c'mon! Or both of us are gonna be late," He took Bad's hand, earning a small yelp as the two ran down the halls

They ran right past Quackity, who snapped at them but they couldn't hear.
As they reached the room they caught their breath

"Alright, see you after school!" Skeppy smiled, Bad thanking him and watching him hurry down the halls again

Bad smiled fondly, subtly rolling his eyes.

He hesitated to enter the classroom, before Quackity caught up with him.

"Man you run fast," He laughed, hunched over to catch his breathe

Bad snickered, before entering the class with him
He took his seat next to Quackity, setting his bag on the floor and pulling out his books

The teacher was writing on the board as the class slowly filled up,

"Alright class! Many of you already know, but in case you were absent we're assigning a big project!" The teacher clapped

Yes, they were trying their hardest to make everyone excited but it was failing.
The class stayed awkwardly silent, maybe one kid in the back making a silent 'woo'

The teacher coughed, before continuing
"I know, so excitingg. But before I assign you guys your work we'll be running a small test!" They pulled out a stack of papers

Bad heard Quackity sigh next to him, along with at least half the class.

Then the teacher went around and passed out the papers, Bad took his and skimmed through it.
He had to do a double take before he fully processed the words written.

It was a test, specifically, a parenting test?
What.

He hadn't even thought about having kids, he had a long life ahead of him.
Groaning, Bad picked up his pencil and begin answering some of the questions.

They were pretty basic 'what would you do if your kid did this' and such.

Bad answered through the questions pretty quickly, he might not know much about kids or caring for them but he wasn't clueless.
Honestly how hard could it be? Yes they're expensive, loud and destroy a lot but they couldn't be that hard.

After 10 minutes or so, the teacher snapped to divert the class's attention back to them.

"Alright! Times up, any questions about your work today?" They asked, hands settled on another.

The class stayed silent, so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

"-Okay! Well let me explain this week's assignment!" They turned to the board and started writing on it.
Bad begin to zone out, paying more attention to the wall.

His eyes slowly drifted back to the board, almost jumping as he saw the word parent written on it.

"This week you guys will be parents! Not actual parents, don't worry" They chirped innocently, as if they didn't just ruin several students week.
Bad groaned and held his head.

He just ate his own words.
'How hard could it be?' Rang in his head over and over, taunting him.

The teacher continued to explain but Bad wasn't paying them much attention, until they stepped out of the room.

"Wait where are they going?" Bad asked Quackity, in a quiet whisper
"Going to get the babies, I hope you get a creepy one" Quackity whispered back, giggling a bit

"Just- get babies? Are they real babies??" Bad asked, clearly a dumb question but he was panicking okay.
Quackity stared blankly at him

"No, Bad. They aren't real babies" He laughed a bit
"They're fake, but apparently they act like real ones"

"Oh great," Bad said sarcastically
"Will they cry?" He asked

"Probably,"

Wonderful.
They better not cry late at night, Bad already has a terrible sleeping schedule.

"You think they bite?" Quackity asked with a tint of humor
"If you forget to feed them probably," Bad laughed

Hopefully it wouldn't be too bad. He already has too much to worry about.
The teacher then returned holding a box

"They keep the babies in a box?" Bad giggled a bit, the teacher sending him a disapproving look.
He shut up instantly, not wanting to get in trouble.

"We only have a couple of minutes left, please come pick one out and take a sheet!" The teacher announced, holding up a thick stack of papers.

The class walked up and grabbed theirs, Bad hesitantly grabbing a random out of out the line.

They were probably just bought not long ago, seeing as they looked brand new.

All of them looked different, the one Bad had picked had black hair and green eyes.
He then was given a box of items, a baby carrier and a sheet of paper, before leaving the class room as the bell rang.

Quackity left to talk with Karl, probably complaining about the new assignment.
Bad walked over to his locker, keeping the baby in his right hand.

He unlocked his locker and slid his books in, he only had one class left.
Then it hit him that he would have to bring this baby into the class and deal with it during class.

Great. Just amazing.

Bad pulled out his book and put the baby into the carrier, strapping it in.
"There-" He sighed, picking it up and then being met face to face with Skeppy

"Boo!" Skeppy smiled, Bad stumbling back and nearly tripping over the baby

"SKEPPY- what the fudge!" Bad gasped, feeling as if he'd been given a heart attack.
"Sorry sorry-.. whats that-?" Skeppy's expression changed to confusion when he saw the 'baby'

"Uh- it's a baby-" Bad wasn't able to finish his sentence before Skeppy cut him off
"WHAT- you're a parent now?? Dadboyhalo!" Skeppy chanted, Bad shutting him up quickly

"Shhh! No no! It's fake, it's for my health class! I'm not a dad!" Bad grumbled, in that moment the baby just started crying

Skeppy stared at it for a second
"Turn it off it's LOUD-" Skeppy grumbled, Bad leaning down

"I don't know how! They didn't explain anything to us" Bad waved at the baby
Seconds later Bad could hear another baby crying distantly down the hall.

"Uh- I don't know feed it" Skeppy shrugged, tugging his backpack up

"Feed it what??" Bad asked, growing more concerned as the baby continued to cry,
The crying was worse then a real baby's cry, it just looped.

"Did they give you anything??" Skeppy set his bag down and leaned down next to Bad
"Yeah this box-" Bad handed it to Skeppy, who opened it

"Here give it this thing" Skeppy handed Bad a pacifier
"Wh- okay," Bad just shoved it into the baby's mouth

"Well- carefully!" Skeppy laughed, Bad sighing as the baby finally shut up
"It worked soo-" Bad smiled sheepishly looking over at Skeppy slowly,

He rolled his eyes in response to Bad

"I've got to get to my other class, have fun being a dad" Skeppy snickered, grabbing his bag

"I will not, thank you very much." Bad stood up and rolled his eyes, grabbing his stuff before smiling
"Thanks for the help by the way,"

Skeppy smiled back slightly surprised as he turned away from Bad.
"Yeah no problem, see you later?"

"Yeah! We can hang out after school if you want" Bad added on, putting books into his backpack

"Yes! I'd love that" Skeppy smiled, shaking his hands a bit before waving

Bad smiled, waving back at Skeppy
He couldn't wait till after school.

Oh he could wait.

Walking home was hell.

Bad groaned, listening to the infant cry, it had be doing so for the past 30 minutes of his walk.
Skeppy said he'd meet Bad at his place later, but this baby was going to get in the way.

"What do you want?? I tried to give you food, and your pacifier and I even held you!" He grumbled annoyed, glaring at the baby as if it were going to speak back.

He groaned, continuing to walk
"Stupid baby, thing.." he grumbled to himself as he walked along the sidewalk.
Until he reached his house,

He unlocked the door with the spare keys he'd been given,
His parents were out for a while, on vacation they said.

It was fine by him, so he headed up to his room, shut the door then flopped onto his bed.
It'd be roughly 15 minutes until Skeppy came over, plenty of time to change and get ready.

He yawned, lying on his back for a minute.
The peaceful silence that filled his room was more then welcome, it felt like a warm blanket covering him.

Until it was violently shattered by that stupid baby.
Bad flung up, groaning and dragging himself over to it.

"What?? What do you want!" He snapped, digging through his bag for the items he was given
He pulled out the pacifier and gave it to the 'infant', it stopped its whining once he did.

Then leaning against his bed, he sighed and pulled the carrier closer,
He had time. He'd get up and get changed before Skeppy came over.

-

"Dude? You good?" Bad was gently shook awake by Skeppy, who had a concerned look on his face
"Huh..? Wait what-" Bad sat up, pushing his glasses up

"You were passed out," Skeppy chuckled, offering his hand to let Bad up
"Oh sorry- wait who even let you in??" Bad blinked confused

"You didn't lock the door dude, I knocked three times" Skeppy smiled, helping Bad up and setting his bag on the floor
"Oh" Bad whispered, slightly embarrassed

"So how's he been so far," He gestured towards the baby, which had finally decided to be quiet

Bad glared at the baby. Oh how he hated it already.
"He's something special," Bad sat on his bed, stretching

"You knows he's kinda cute, in a weird- creepy way" Skeppy laughing, becoming slightly uncomfortable the more he looked at it
Bad looked at Skeppy like he'd just said the worst thing ever.

"No it is not- that thing won't stop crying," Bad grumbled
"It's not crying right now-" Just then, as if the gods had cursed Bad, the baby started screaming again.

"YOU JYNXED IT!" Bad groaned, flopping against his bed
"Hey! I didn't mean to" Skeppy covered his ears

"What does it want??" He asked,

"How about you ask it!" Bad rolled his eyes, now covering his ears as well

Skeppy muttered something Bad couldn't quite hear over the wailing, before the baby suddenly shut up
Bad shot up and looked over to see what had caused it to be quiet.

Skeppy was holding, attempting to awkwardly cradle it
"Look it's quiet now," Skeppy sighed, tinted with relief

Bad silently watched for a silent, a small smile creeping its way onto his face
"You're,. rocking it?" Bad snickered a bit, but the smile kept getting wider

"Hey! You wouldn't do anything about it," Skeppy shot him a glare, clearly embarrassed about holding the 'baby'
Bad tried his best to hold back his laughter, before climbing off his bed and onto the floor

"How'd you get it to be quiet??" Bad asked, half joking honestly. He was truly curious
"It's not that hard, you have to just hold it-" Skeppy held the baby slightly forward, hinting at Bad to take it

"Oh no no no" Bad laughed awkwardly, "I'm not taking that thing"

"What!? It's your baby!" Skeppy whisper shouted, as if the baby would wake up and continue crying
Bad giggled, scooting away

"Your baby now,"

"Wh-" Skeppy was at a loss for words, glaring at Bad with the most annoyed look
"No I don't want this baby!" He grumbled

"I don't either!" Bad now mirroring Skeppy's hushed voice,

Skeppy glared at the baby, continuing to carefully rock it

"We could just- leave it here" Bad offered, half joking.
He honestly didn't want to deal with the baby, regardless of his grade.

"What?? You cant just leave it, it'll cry- plus your grade" Skeppy added onto the end, holding the baby slightly away from Bad
Bad sighed,

"You're right- here let me take it" He held out his arms and carefully took the infant from Skeppy
Unsurprisingly, it started screaming again.

You know its cries were starting to sound more and more robotic by the second.
"Uhh-"

"Here, you have to hold it closer and lift up your arm a bit more" Skeppy shifted near Bad, moving his arms to show Bad
Bad allowed Skeppy to guide him, then sighing as the baby shut up again.

"That thing is so needy." he grumbled, slowly rocking the baby
"It is supposed to be realistic so.,"

Bad rolled his eyes,
"Can you pass me the carrier?"

"Sure, but if you put in back in there it might start screaming again-" Skeppy noted, grabbing the carrier and sliding it over towards Bad
"Yeaah- what am I supposed to do with it then? Just hold it?"

"I guess so,"

Bad groaned,
Great. This stupid baby was gonna ruin their plans

All he wanted to do was spend time with his best friend- but this assignment was canceling all of that out.
"We can still hang out with it here, just differently" Skeppy snapped Bad out of his swarming negative thoughts

"Like what? We were gonna go out before.,"

"We could like- watch a movie or something?" Skeppy offered, seeming somewhat hesitant
"It is friday,." He mumbled after, his voice going quiet

"Oh that's a good idea Geppy!" Bad beamed, why didn't he think about that?
Skeppy smiled
"Great!"

Bad didn't understand why Skeppy went quiet afterwards though, seeming somewhat anxious
"Let's go get ready" Skeppy stood up, helping Bad up

"Okay, here you take the baby while I get blankets and stuff" Bad held out the baby
Skeppy nodded, gently taking the infant into his own hands

Bad sprung up and gathered pillows and blankets, as Skeppy walked downstairs to the living room
He sat down on the couch and made a sigh of relief, slumping into the cushions

It worked? It was that simple?
Skeppy had been trying for months to get Bad to watch a movie but he'd chickened out every time.

He was afraid Bad would mock him or something. Or made some comment about it being a 'partner' thing.
Skeppy cringed at the thought, he'd tried asking Bad out to the movies before, but brushed it off as a regular hangout session.

If only he had a bit more confidence, if only he could just shove aside his 3am thoughts and get it over with.
If only.

But he didn't, and it was what it was.
He accepted that it would be like this,

"Okay I got blankets, pillows and snacks!" Bad chirped, Skeppy jumped and nearly dropped the baby

"Woah somebody's jumpy tonight,"

Skeppy laughed nervously, words failing him.
Bad threw the blankets onto the couch, throwing a pillow at Skeppy as well.

It wacked him right in the face, Skeppy gasping
"Hey! Jerk!" He grumbled, putting the pillow with the others

"Oops, must've been the wind" Bad shrugged his arms innocently, throwing down two bags of chips

"Here" Bad handed Skeppy a bottle of water
Bad flopped down onto the couch next to Skeppy, handing him some of the blankets and pillows

"Thanks," He took them and wrapped himself up in one,
Bad then carefully took the baby from Skeppy and cradled it,

Skeppy then grabbed the remote and started flipping through movies

"What do you wanna watch?" He asked, keeping his eyes on the tv
Bad thought for a second, snuggling against one of the pillows

"How about something scary," He offered, smiling slightly
"You sure you can handle it?" Skeppy teased, earning a glare and offended gasp from Bad

"Hey! I can"
"Sure sure, babyboyhalo"

Bad smacked Skeppy with one of the pillows,
"Shut up,"

He giggled,
"Careful there you might wake the baby,"

"I will not. How dare you use our child against me" Bad grumbled, sitting up and shifting slightly

Skeppy smiled uncontrollably at Bad's words, 'our' child.
It was a stupid small thing but it meant a lot to Skeppy

He didn't say anything though, he didn't want to make it awkward

But he stayed silent for too long, suspiciously too long.
"Skeppy? You there?" Bad laughed a bit, waving his hand in front of him

"Wha- uh yeah sorry I zoned out" He brushed it off awkwardly, snapping his attention back to the television.

Bad giggled, his laugh easing some of the tension.
"You've been doing that a lot tonight,"

Skeppy tried to laugh it off, play it as a joke and start the movie so maybe, just maybe Bad would forget about it all.
But it didn't seem to be going that way.

Bad tilted his head slightly, he seemed to be studying Skeppy's expressions.
Which just made Skeppy more nervous, he hoped it wasn't too visible.

He could feel Bad's gaze burning into his side, taunting him.
"Are you okay?" He heard Bad ask

"Mhm-" Skeppy nodded, still refusing to make eye contact with him
"Let's go ahead and put on a movie-" He quickly changed the subject, grabbing the remote and flipping through the channels

Bad settled back against the pillows again, watching Skeppy flip through the movies.

"Here, how about this movie?" He asked

It was a generic horror movie, nothing too scary for them.
"Sure!" Bad chirped

Skeppy started the film, settling back into the couch.
The clock read about 7:36 pm, they had plenty of time to watch movies.

He smiled, this was the kind of peace he enjoyed.
Just them two, hanging out in the comfort of one of their homes, a soothing silence covering them like a blanket.

It was nice.

Too nice apparently because seconds later it was brutally shattered.
The atmosphere then filling with the sound of that damn baby screaming, it echoed through Skeppy's head.

"No no!" Bad groaned, sitting up right away
He grabbed the remote and quickly paused the movie, scooting over to attempt and help Bad with the baby.

"What does it want?" He sighed, Bad shrugging
"I don't know- maybe food?"

Skeppy got up and went to Bad's bag to search for the food he'd been given.
It was just some basic plastic baby bottle, but if it got the infant to shut up it'd be perfect.

After digging around for a second, he found it
Although,

His attention was diverted to a photo in Bad's backpack, a photo of them specifically.
Nothing was wrong with it, in fact it made him smile,

He slowly picked it up and got a better look at it,
The photo was one Bad had taken nearly a year ago, it was them hanging out at the park.

Yeah it was nighttime and probably a stupid idea to be there but who cared,
they had fun

Skeppy smiled fondly, flipping the photo over to see if anything was on the back
A date was written, along with Skeppy's name and a couple "<3's"

"Geppy?" He heard Bad call out, he nearly dropped everything he was holding
He had completely forgotten about the movie- and the baby that was still screaming.

"Sorry- here" He returned the photo, taking the bottle and walking back over to the couch.
Bad thanked him as he sat down, then trying to give the baby it.

"C'mon, take it," He grumbled, clearly growing annoyed by the second.
Skeppy watched patiently, he'd help Bad if he wasn't able to get it.

But something about Bad struggling to give it the bottle was amusing.

A couple minutes pass by and somehow he is still unable to give it the bottle.
So, he whines to his bestfriend of course.

"Skeeepppyy," Bad draws out a long whine, earning a small laugh and eyeroll from Skeppy
"Yeaaaahhh?" He returns Bad's energy, smiling

"It won't take it" He complains, shifting slightly to look directly at him
"Mhmm, you gotta make it"

"I can't- you try" Bad groans, handing the baby off to Skeppy
He takes it, cradling it in one hand and fiddling with the bottle in the other.

It's a lot more difficult then he would've thought, the infant just wouldn't take it.
"Dude it won't fit," He grumbled, scooted over to sit next to Skeppy

"Let me try-" He carefully took the bottle and tried again.
Although, Bad was perfectly able to try before,

Before Skeppy could start racing thoughts the baby shut up, completely derailing his train of thought
"Finally!" Both sighed with pure relief, Bad then slumping against the back of the couch

Skeppy let out a small laugh before speaking,
"Heh, now we're ready for a real kid I guess," He jokes, laughing before he turns to look at Bad

He was an, unreadable, expression.
It's somewhat a mix of confusion, fondness and.. something else.

Skeppy knew it'd made it awkward, why did he even say that?
Now he had to figure out some sort of escape, and quickly.

But he wasn't able to form any words, anything he attempted to free got caught in his throat
Instead he just stared at Bad, who stared right back at him with a shared expression.

Awkward.

Until a couple of seconds pass and Bad starts to smile, before covering his mouth and trying to suppress a giggle.
Skeppy couldn't help with start to laugh himself. More so out of relief

"What??" He asked, now giggling along with Bad

"Nothing nothing," he waved it off, still bouncing with laughter

"Let's continue the movie," Bad said, leaning back and getting comfortable again
He nodded, agreeing.

Both settled back down and watched the movie.

8:53 PM

Skeppy blinked slowly as he read the time on his phone
The movie was still going, he'd zoned it out about 10 minutes ago or so,

Now paying more attention to Bad, who was leaning over and looked half asleep.
But god was he pretty,

His hair was slightly ruffled, covering most of his face as he attempted to stay awake.
Both had nearly fallen asleep before the baby had begun its shrieks again.

They managed to quiet it, but it wouldn't be long before the infant started again.
Skeppy had a soft smile as he watched Bad, paying no attention to anything around them

In fact he hadn't even noticed when Bad made eye contact with him and blinked.
"Geppy?" He had a tint of an awkward laugh towards the end as he tilted his head

Skeppy snapped away, stupid move on his end
He turned towards Bad again, acting as if nothing had happened

"Uh yeah?" He smiled, using every bit of his strength to keep him from running.
"What were you looking at?" He asked with a slightly teasing tone,

"Well- you obviously" Skeppy would play it off as a joke. Yes just a joke.
And then Bad would laugh and both of them would move on

"Me?"

Of course Bad would play dumb,
Skeppy felt his protective wall of confidence crumbling, quickly.

"Um, yeah" He stuttered,

Bad had this- stupid smile on his face.
It was sweet but so teasing, he knew exactly what he was doing and Skeppy hated that.

"Why?" He was now completely turned to Skeppy, drowning out any other sounds.
With Bad's attention completely on him Skeppy's brain shut down, unable to form words

"I- well-.," His words quickly faded into mumbled gibberish, his stuttering becoming worse the more he tried.

But he was spared. Just this once the baby decided to do something good in its life
It started crying, giving Skeppy a perfect excuse to change the subject

"Oh come on," Bad grumbled, sitting up
Unlike Bad, Skeppy was relieved at the timing and quickly reached over to take the baby

"Here I'll get it-" But he was cut off by Bad before he could take it
"No no, I got it"

Bad tried to rock it for the next minute,
He tried feeding it as well, but nothing.

Skeppy just waited, happy to have an excuse to avoid talking about the previous convo.
Bad struggled for another couple of minutes, Skeppy tried to offer help but Bad kept denying,

"Oh wait maybe it wants its carrier-" Bad realized, then turning to Skeppy
"Could you go get that?"

"Yeah!" Skeppy shot up, heading upstairs to get it.
When he entered Bad's room he sighed with relief

Finally a breath of fresh air, sure it was only for a second but it was worth it
He leaned against the door, sighing as he felt his face was hot

Luckily it wasn't visible downstairs, the lighting of the tv making it difficult to see his face.
Skeppy shook his head, focusing on what was important

Then snatching the carrier, he headed back downstairs
"Got it," He sat back down, setting the carrier onto the ground in front of them

Bad thanked him and leaned down, setting the baby into it.
It continued to scream for a second, Skeppy leaning down as well and rocking it back and forth slightly

It slowly went quiet, both sighing in unison.
Skeppy sat back onto the couch, ready to continue watching the movie

But Bad had other ideas, standing up and staring at Skeppy for a second, with that same damn smile.

Skeppy felt his stomach twist again, nervously staring back at Bad
"What-?"

"What were you saying before?" He asked,
Damn it. Skeppy didn't escape as well as he thought

Would Bad continue to pry at him until he finally snapped, until he finally broke and ruined everything
While both were stubborn, he was much more stubborn then Skeppy.

He'd go at this for hours until he got what he wanted to hear,

"Skeppy?" Bad's voice snapped him out of his racing thoughts
"Uh-"

He swallowed thickly, unable to form sentences again.

Bad's smile only grew
"You okay?" He giggled a bit

"Yeah yeah-" Skeppy repeated, now stiff
He wanted to just delete himself from the world, disappear and combust on the spot.

Bad laughed softly again, finally sitting down on the couch
He was closer to Skeppy, he took note of that mentally

But he wasn't able to focus on the movie anymore, in fact he couldn't focus on anything at all.
His thoughts were burning, speeding a hundred miles a minute.
He had a thought, a single one. Before he could stop he was already speaking

"God you're so pretty," Instantly he regretted it,
But some small, pathetic part of him didn't. He had wanted to say it for so long, months, years.

Bad snapped towards him, with a surprised and now slightly flustered face.
"Wait what?" Skeppy could hear the happiness but also confusion

"What'd you say-" He asked

"Nothing nothing-" Skeppy turned back to the movie

"No what'd you say-" He asked again, leaning in slightly

"Nothinggggg" Skeppy tried again, praying that he'd let it go

Bad was quiet for a second, as if he were processing what Skeppy'd said
"Did you call me pretty?" It was in a much quieter, smaller voice.

So quiet Skeppy felt that if he ignored Bad it'd shatter, shatter and be forever broken.
Instead he didn't, he opened his voice

"Yeah.," He mumbled silently, barely audible
Bad stared for a second, unreadable expression painted on his face.

Until he smiled, hugging his shoulders and turning away slightly
"You're very pretty as well Skeppy,"

He felt his heart jump, turning back towards Bad.
Before he could think he was talking again,

"Do you really mean that-?" He asked, slightly desperate for an answer
No.
Really desperate

He needed to know-
did Bad really mean that?

"Of course" Bad made eye contact with him, seeming serious.
But it went quiet again, both unable to form another sentence.

Both were sharing a small smile, it was a fragile moment.
It was silent for another minute, both only stared at the other.

Until somebody spoke up,
"Can I sit next to you?" Bad suddenly asked, and who was he to say no?

"Yeah-" Skeppy lifted up his blanket, allowing Bad to scoot over and sit next to him
He smiled, leaning back and turning his attention to the movie once more

Bad suddenly leaned against him, and Skeppy felt his heart flutter.
It did not need to do that, not now not ever.

He wouldn't lie, he liked it.
Both leaned against each other, letting the time pass

As the movie continued on, he felt himself slowly drift unconscious

Bad yawned, now slowly closing his eyes,
Wouldn't hurt if they slept here, sure their backs would pay the price in the morning but that was a future problem.

As he felt himself finally fall asleep, he heard the baby start to whine quietly.
"I swear-" He grumbled

"I'm sure it won't-" Bad mumbled, keeping his eyes shut as if that'd block it out.
He hoped it wouldn't.

The whining got slightly louder, Skeppy now sitting forward
"Don't you dare-" He was glaring daggers at the baby

"Skeppy leave it, it'll be fine" Bad grumbled, annoyed at having to sit up
"If it starts screaming I swear I'm throwing it out the window.," He yawned, leaning back

Just as his back hit the couch the baby started screaming
It sounded much more robotic, louder and scratchier this time

"THATS IT-" Skeppy leaned down and snatched the baby, literally about to throw it
"GEPPY NO-" Bad stole it from him right before he threw it, gripping onto it for dear life

"DON'T THROW THE BABY-"

"IT'S LOUD DUDE-"

"OKAY? You- can't just throw it!" Bad carefully held the child, slightly turned away
Skeppy sighed, leaning back against the couch

"What do we do with it? It won't stop crying,"

"Just keep taking care of it until the project is over," Bad shrugged, then grabbing the bottle to feed it
He sat up and watched Bad feed it, the baby finally quietening down.

"It'll probably only be quiet for 10 minutes, if we're lucky" Skeppy bickered, a hint of sarcasm involved.
Bad rolled his eyes in response, setting the baby back in the carrier

"Let's try and get some sleep before it screams again" He added on, then going back to sit in his spot
Bad nodded, settling back down next to him.

He was hoping for a quiet night- or realistically, mostly quiet.
Maybe a peaceful night, where they both sleep soundly.

Drifting away and allowing the worries of the real world to fade away into nothing,
But, much like the events of the past couple of hours, that wasn't an option.

He noticed how Bad hadn't shut his eyes yet, he was just staring blankly at the wall
Slowly Bad shifted slightly to look at Skeppy, who was obviously already looking at him

They just stared for a second, he knew Bad wanted to say something but dreaded what it might be
Maybe it was just a joke? A snarky remark or an old memory, something.
Perhaps he was about to go on talking about one of his favorite recipes, classes or anything.

But Skeppy got his hopes up too high, in fact, what came next was one of his worst fears.

"Geppy?" Bad asked, very hushed and quiet
"Hm?" He tilted his head, a small smile painted on his face

Barely visible from the lighting in the room, Bad shifted slightly to scoot away and sit up
His stomach turned with uncertainty.

"Um.," He seemed like he was trying to form another sentence, but he only played with the hair in front of his face
Skeppy waited patiently though, as patient as he could get.

Seconds felt like minutes, hours even.
He swear he could hear the ticking of a clock even though one wasn't anywhere to be found.

"Do you.," Bad hesitated, clearly very anxious
A thousand thoughts ran through Skeppy's head, like a flock of birds swarming a powerline

Did he what??

"Do you- like me.,?" Bad whispered out, very cautiously.
Skeppy tilted his head confused slightly, of course he did?

Unless Bad was asking something else, but Skeppy shooed that thought away rapidly.
"Of course I do Bad-"

Bad cut him off quickly
"No like- do you like me?"

"Bad you just asked tha-"

"No Skeppy," He stated, slightly annoyed before turning into a much more serious look
"Do you- love me? More then a friend?"

Skeppy's heart dropped down to his stomach, he blinked slowly.
His mouth was too dry to speak, as if he could even form words in the first place.

"Um- like., bestfrie-" Bad cut him off again
"No, not bestfriends"

He knew exactly what Bad was asking,
But he was afraid to answer.

What if it was just a question? What if Bad didn't like him back and he was just messing with him?
He couldn't just leave it un-answered though, it'd be too obvious

Running away and never looking back was always an option though-
No not really,

So instead he took a deep breath, and mentally prepared himself for the conversation ahead

"Uh- what if I theoretically said yes?" He spoke quickly, his words nearly mushed into one.

Bad stared blankly, before speaking
"Is that a yes or no-"

"Theoretically- a yes" Skeppy noticed how Bad slightly rolled his eyes

"Okay, what if I, theoretically asked you to elaborate?" A small smile crept onto his face, holding his hands together

"Uhh"
"What if I theoretically couldn't answer?" He tried his best to put on the most convincing smile

"What??" Bad laughed, confused
"You have to answer- how could you not-"

"Let's say I theoretically ran out of the window-"

"What- Skeppy!" Bad groaned, holding his head in his hands attempting to suppress a laugh
He giggled at Bad's response, humor always lightened things up.

Bad sat back up, rolling his eyes before looking back at Skeppy
"Okay no 'theoretical' situations, no memes nothing- no running out windows either."

"Do you actually?" Skeppy felt the real weight of the situation hit him, he really was serious.

No light hearted jokes involved, no trolling or anything, it was real.

Yet he found himself speechless, not even a single thought crossed his mind
Bad looked more upset by Skeppy's silence,

Snap out of it
A voice in his head brought him back to reality, Bad was taking his silence as a no

"I-" Skeppy's voice was shaky, vulnerable.
But he had to do this, or he could mess everything up, it was now or never.

"I do.," He admitted, his heart feeling every possible emotion in that moment
It's something he thought he'd never admit to, truly believing he'd take it to the grave.

Bad's expression swiftly changed into mild shock, some visible happiness but he shook his head slightly
"Wait really?"

Skeppy wasn't able to talk anymore, sentences slipping just barely out of his grasp
So instead he nodded, a slow, soft nod.

Bad stared silently, his mouth slightly open as he registered what had just been said.
The more the silence dragged on the more Skeppy wanted to actually run out the window

"I didn't plan this far ahead," Bad said plainly, looking at Skeppy with a small smile
"Do you like me back?" He asked, probably too suddenly

"Wh- yes! I thought that was obvious?" Bad responded, slightly confused
"Wait what??" Skeppy blinked

"YOU DO?" He was mostly in shock, how.
How in the what- why- how

His brain was not working anymore and all he could do was stare
"Yes!" Bad started laughing

"No jokes nothing? Seriously?" He asked again, he had to be 100%

"Yes, no jokes no memes nothing-"

Skeppy felt his heart racing, no fucking way right?
He was dreaming, he'd wake up to the sound of his alarm soon.

Bad suddenly reached out and cupped his face slightly, causing Skeppy to jump and pull away
"What are you doing-" He asked out of reflex

He didn't hate physical contact, not at all. But it was no unexpected that he couldn't help but snap away
"Sorry- I just wanted to see if this was real-" Bad pulled away as well, with a soft expression

"Oh," He swallowed, thinking for a second
"It's fine I don't mind-"

"Really?" Bad's face lit up slightly, but he didn't dare reach out yet.
Skeppy nodded, giving a reassuring smile

He slowly outstretched his arm again, cupping his cheek carefully,
Skeppy swore, his heart was going to explode.

He'd never had this kind of physical contact, sure hugs with friends here and there were nice but,
this,
this was different. It was something new he'd never experienced.

"You're so soft," Bad giggled a bit, now holding Skeppy's face with both of his hands
Skeppy laughed as well, smiling as he leaned into Bad's touch.

It burned but it was a nice kind of burning, something he'd yearned for for so long.
He'd gone to sleep hoping, dreaming that one day it'd happen but not once did he actually consider it happening

It wasn't how he imagined it, no sweet romantic date in a movie theater or park, no long car trip.
Just the two of them, in Bad's living room with the lights down so low you could barely see.

Only the light of the television casted across the room, lighting them up ever so slightly.

"Can I kiss you?" Bad asked, he was taken aback by the request and slightly panicked

"Bad- I've never kissed anyone it's not gonna be good-"

"That's fine, I can be the first" Bad reassured with a soft smile, now holding both of Skeppy's hands in his own
"But- are you sure? What if I'm terrible at it-" He frowned, hating how insecure he felt

The last he wanted to do was disappointed Bad, in any way.

"Skeppy it's fine, if you don't want to we don't have to-"
"No no!" Skeppy spoke quickly, not wanting to ruin a chance at something he wanted so badly

"I do- a lot"

"Okay.," Bad smiled in a hushed breath

Skeppy felt his heart rate go through the roof as Bad slowly leaned in and gently kissed him.
He didn't know what to do with his hands so he just carefully placed them on Bad's shoulders

He pulled back slowly, he was smiling as Skeppy blinked slowly
"woah-"

Bad laughed a bit, before leaning in again.
He wasn't expecting Bad to do it again but he wasn't complaining, not at all.
This time he wrapped his arms around Bad's back and let himself fall loose in his hold.

It was so calm, it felt as if the world had slowed down and gone quiet.
He could live in it forever,

But guess who decided to show up and ruin everything?

Yeah it's not the baby.
Both of them were abruptly interrupted by Rat, who had knocked a glass over

"Rat??" Skeppy blinked, his mind fuzzy from the lack of oxygen

"Oh no! I thought she was downstairs, she must've gotten out-" Bad gasped, standing up

"You're not supposed to be here Lucy, not until mom and dad get home-" Bad carefully picked her up, petting her.
"I'm gonna put her downstairs okay?" He smiled, before heading downstairs

Skeppy nodded, watching Bad leave
"I swear you and that dog are working together." Skeppy glared daggers at the fake infant in its carrier

He heard it made a subtle sound, almost as if it were about to cry again.

"Don't- I won't hesitate to throw you this time." He grumbled
It didn't, it shut up.

Bad hurried back up the stairs
"Okay Rat is downstairs!" He chirped, sitting back down

"Good, can we kiss again now you were gone for too long," Skeppy grumbled, Bad smiling softly

He sighed, smiling warmly and he shifted closer to Skeppy
"Of course,"
