Jimmy is holding hands with Lister in the hospital room. Lister stabbed himself accidentally when hiding Jimmy’s knife. This led to Jimmy coming to a realisation…
”Lister, when you’re recovered would you like to go on a date with me?” Asks Jimmy shyly, ducking his head down with a blush on his face.
”Jimmy, are you sure? You need to be sure and this can’t be a pity date or because you feel sorry for me.”
”Lister, I like you. I think I have for a while actually. Please go out with me.”
Lister smiles warmly and nods shyly.
Two weeks later they’re walking into a cafe hand in hand. They both order mugs of coffee and pancakes with maple syrup. Underneath the table Jimmy hooks his leg with Lister’s.
“I can’t believe this is happening. I’ve liked you for so long. Since we were in high school and before I joined the band. I used to worry you had feelings for Rowan.” Lister confesses quietly.
“I wish you had told me sooner and when you were sober. Rowan is like a brother to me and you know he’s straight anyway. I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to realise but it’s you Lister, it’s always been you for me.” Jimmy takes Lister’s hand in his over the table.
Lister squeezes his hand and leans over the table to give Jimmy a kiss on the cheek.
Later when walking back to their flat, Jimmy pulls Lister in for a kiss. It’s so much better than last time. Jimmy feels butterflies in his stomach and fireworks behind his eyes.
“Do you want to be my boyfriend?” Jimmy asks Lister when he pulls back from the kiss.
“Yes of course I do. God I can’t believe how lucky I am.”
”I’m the lucky one.”
Lister kisses him in response. They then walk into their flat and spend the rest of the evening watching movies eventually Rowan joins them with a pleased smirk on his face.
After only three dates Jimmy tells Lister he’s in love with him.
“I love you too Jimmy Kaga-Ricci, I always have and I always will”.
Maple syrup, coffee.
Pancakes for two.
Hash browns, egg yolk.
I will always love you.
