Come on baby, let's get spooky

Summary:

After a shift at the Watchtower where Tim upsets Zatanna - he comes home to Marinette.

Work Text:

The wind whips and howls outside of Marinette’s small apartment, and vintage music plays on a record player while she dances across the kitchen. A pinch of this; a pinch of that dropped into a bubbling cauldron. Monarch may have been defeated ages ago, but she’s still the Guardian and as the Guardian it’s her job to take care of the mini-gods that fly around her room. The liquid changes colours when she drops in cinnamon and Plagg cackles in the distance. All together, it makes for a very spooky vibe going on in her apartment at the moment. She grins – and thinks that this is a perfect October. Her Parisian friends would be horrified – since they don’t really have Halloween there, but it’s quickly became one of her favorite holidays after she moved to America.

The keys jingle in her lock – and blue eyes look up as the door opens to her fiancé as he enters. She gestures towards his shoes, and Tim removes them, putting them next to hers, before slipping on the slippers she had bought him. (He knows better than to wear his shoes in her house – just as much as she’s horrified to know that she doesn’t have to take hers off in Wayne manor.)

His gaze moves to the cauldron that’s now bubbling over and he lifts a brow --- and she smiles, sheepishly. She likes to have potions on hand, sue her. She blinks, moves closer to him – as she doesn’t really have to watch the liquid at the moment, a frown setting on her face.

My, what big teeth you have,” she jokes, trying to hide the humor in her tone – because she knows her fiancé didn’t leave with such teeth – and he sighs and fully enters into the kitchen so she can keep her gaze on her cauldron, and sits down. She follows after him.

“Something went wrong at the watchtower.” He starts, and she hums, letting him continue as she goes about setting out the potion bottles she needed. “Zatanna.” He says, hoping that will explain everything. It should. It doesn’t. Still, she lets them sit in silence while she fills up the potion bottles, and then places them into her pocket dimension (which is slowly getting more and more filled. She will eventually have to expand it.)

Once finished, she comes back around and waits for Tim to continue to explain. “She cursed everyone,” he says sheepishly, and she snorts. “So what did everyone do to piss her off?” Marinette questions, as her legs cross once she’s fully seated on the stool next to him.

His lips come together and averts his gaze, “She was explaining how ‘curses’ weren’t really real – not in a magician sense, but in a typical human sense – like Halloween curses you know?” Marinette hums (and she does know; after all, she too can be classified as a ‘witch’ by human standards), and he breathes out, “And the rest of us, kept joking about it so she cursed us.” Marinette’s fingers lift to trace his jaw, down to his mouth to poke at one of the teeth that poke out from his lips. They’re sharp and a gleam enters into her eyes. “So she gave you big teeth?” He nods.

“They’re sharp.”

He nods again.

“It’ll wear off in twelve hours but that means that I’ll be stuck not going outside.”

Marinette hums, and she grins up at him. “You know, you could go as a vampire for halloween. They look kinda nice on you.” His lips twitch upwards, “Oh? And you could be my prey?” He grasps at her waist pulling her closer to him, and nuzzling his face into his neck. She giggles, “Exactly.”

Somewhere, in the back of her mind, she thinks she needs to send a fruit basket to Zatanna – but later. Right now she has a fiancé whose teeth she’s really excited about -- now all she has to do is get him excited about them too.
