World
It’s a whole new world, but it’s the same old thing. Lucina doesn’t understand this, but Grima knows that nothing ever truly changes.
The irony is, the event Lucina thinks is the key to saving this world from him—Emmeryn’s assassination, and the theft of the Fire Emblem—only takes place because of the very humans she would protect! He didn’t bring himself back to life!
That’s why, even if she manages to change the course of fate, she won’t change its destination. Grima is the inevitable end of a world doomed to violence. Deep down, humanity wants it, too.
Hatred
“And just what business do the Grimleal have inside our borders?”
The Feroxi guard’s eyes burn with hatred.
“Sir, I am Ylissean,” Grima says innocently. He spent much time in Ylisse; his accent is indistinguishable from a native’s. “I’m meeting an acquaintance at your capital. I must hurry, for her time here is short.”
“Yeah, right,” the guard sneers. “Brigand!”
Grima sighs.
“Oh, alright, alright… I knew what you wanted from the start.” He smiles sharply. “Lowly worms always crave the dirt!”
He was hoping to avoid a slaughter so early… but oh, well. They’ll simply blame it on Plegia.
Charade
He pretends to be a hierophant, the highest of his order in all of Plegia. It’s his most boring charade yet. If only Validar hadn’t—
No, Grima would still have ended up here in the end. He has an appointment with his other self at the Dragon’s Table, after all.
It’s only a matter of time. And so, he kills some.
Guiding the masses is easy when you keep in mind that you are but a means to an end for them, same as they are for you.
Grima is just the captain steering his ignorant passengers towards their destiny.
Retribution
“He thinks he’s justice?”
The spies report that Chrom defeated Walhart at the Valmese capital. It seems the two rulers exchanged words outside the castle before taking the fight inside. They were heard by all.
But Grima has already seen what Chrom can do. Nothing. That won’t change, despite this world’s timeline shifting. Even now, Chrom is being drawn towards the Dragon’s Table… towards Grima… towards his fate.
It’s so boring for Grima, having seen this all before.
“Humanity’s wrongs can no longer be righted,” he sneers. “The only justice left is retribution.”
And the fell dragon will deliver it.
Death
Grima is defeated, but it’s only a matter of time before he rises again.
The fools of this world don’t understand, but nothing ever truly changes. Even their “final battle” has played out before, and will again. The world is doomed to violence, because one person’s satisfaction means another must suffer. Always.
Someday, death will free them all from this cycle. But for now, Grima can only wile away the hours behind a seal that was never made to last.
Whether it comes now, or in a thousand years, or in a thousand more, Grima is still the inevitable end.
