Chapter 1: Izuku has a day
Chapter Text
Something was wrong with today. There's that saying, everyday is a new day or you choose to be you when you wake up or whatever but it's so not true. Sometimes things just happen that can cause the biggest heartache for no apparent reason and it sucks.
That was today for Izuku Aizawa-Yamada (known as Midoriya at school so he wouldn't be targeted).
It started off fine, Izuku had woken up with his brother, Hitoshi, still snoring in the bed on the other side of the room. He hadn't had the best rest truthfully, insomnia and paranoia about upcoming assignments keeping him awake till the early morning. He had managed maybe a few hours but it was better than nothing.
He got changed into his UA uniform, got his bag and books ready and packed the assignment he had been working on that had to be handed into Midnight-sensie today. Giving a quick shoulder shake to at least stir Hitoshi, Izuku headed out of their shared room and to the kitchen to rustle up a light breakfast. The clicking open of a door and not so quiet foot steps alerted him to Eri finally waking up.
Shit, Eri!
There was the first instance. Eri loved to wake up her big brothers, it was like a tradition but not really. She just got a bit sad when she couldn't wake the family up, and Izuku had forgotten. It wasn't a big deal, Eri would get over it in a second but it stung Izuku a bit. How could he forget Eri? An audible thump and bit of squealing later and Eri came lightly jogging, cause there was no running in the house, towards Izuku and wrapped her arms around his legs.
"You didn't let me wake you up, Izu-nii! You snuck away from!"
"A,ah sorry Eri-chan! I, I didn't mean to sneak away from you! I,I'm sorry."
Izuku bashfully scratched his cheek as Eri pointed up at him and clung tighter to his leg.
"Then I'm just gonna have to be your b, ba, um-"
"Barnical?"
"Yea! I'm just gonna have to be your barnical this morning!"
"But what about Dad and Papa?"
"I already woke them up!"
"Ah, o, okay."
This was the second instance. Eri knew Izuku was strong, which is no lie Izuku is a strong green bean (As Papa says). But having Eri clinging onto him didn't sound that great right now. Don't get Izuku wrong he loved Eri! And he absolutely loved his sister's hugs and would usually let her cling to him whenever she wanted. But something just didn't feel right about it this morning and he still felt guilty at not letting her wake him up. But he didn't want to upset Eri anymore, even through she didn't look upset, it would make Izuku feel guiltier not letting her cling to him.
So he was guilty about not letting her wake him up, didn't want her to cling to him but also didn't want to feel guiltier about not letting her cling.
Yikes.
Resigning himself to an uncomfortable fate, Izuku went about the kitchen preparing breakfast for the family. Turning on and getting the coffee machine going, putting some basic toast, eggs and some of last night's dinner together for everyone. His Dad, Shouta Aizawa-Yamada, was the first to come at the smell of food. Beelining for the coffee machine and giving a head rub to his two kids along the way. He snorted a bit at Izuku's predicament but just sat at the table for breakfast to be ready.
Now Shouta didn't mean anything by that snort, it's a snort of laughter, and it was directed at the situation and not at Izuku. There was absolutely no deeper meaning to that snort.
But fuck, for some reason that snort and his Dad not helping him with Eri kinda hurt.
Stumbling out of bed was the blond monstrosity, Hizashi Yamada-Aizawa, who forgot most basic human functions before coffee and also beelined it for the machine. Hitoshi doing the same thing when he arose too. Once his family was starting to wake, Izuku served breakfast and pried Eri off of him so he could also eat. Breakfast was finished, the family got ready for their separate days and everyone was dressed, awake and ready to go. Eri was dropped off to daycare and the rest of the family headed for UA, which was just a few blocks away.
Izuku was still a bit on edge with, well, everything to be honest. Something just truly wasn't sitting right with him today, like the world was just a tiny bit skewed and it was disorientating. Izuku was great at analysing things, able to pick apart and understand exactly what was what. But this was just weird.
The car they had was parked in the staff parking lot, hidden and underground so not just anyone could access it. And the family entered UA and went their separate ways. His dad's to the staff lounge, Hitoshi to the support department for some costume upgrades and Izuku to class 1A. As the morning dragged on and the clock slowly ticked closer and closer to the beginning of class, 1A students filled the class. Now class 1A were great, they were like, no, were a family. But someone must have put sugar on all of their food today or something cause they were practically bouncing off the walls in excitement. Not even excitement just pure teenage, rambunctious energy.
"Deku! How was your stay off campus? I can't believe you got Sensei to approve of that by the way! Super cool! You need to tell me how you have Aizawa-sensei wrapped around your finger, like, seriously, he agrees to almost anything you ask!"
Uraraka. Soul of the earth, sweetest human and one of his first ever friends. She was almost too much today.
"Ah! U,uhm, I'm not really sure? I, I just ask and he, he agrees so."
"He must play favourites then-"
"Our teachers do not play favourites Uraraka! That would create a bias in marking and assessment!"
"Chill Ten-ten I'm only kidding! But you have to agree that sensei does seem to have a soft spot for Izuku, right?"
"I would say he doesn't but, I, I'm not sure!"
Izuku loved Uraraka and Tenya, his first friends but seriously if they got any louder Izuku felt like he might explode.
"Hey, guys c,come on! You n,need to get to your seats! Aizawa-sensei will be here soon."
"Ah! Thank you Midoriya-kun! How tardy of me, come Uraraka, we must prepare for class to being, that goes for everyone as well!"
"Shut the fuck up four eyes!"
Iida looked like he would retaliate to Bakugo but thought better of it and just sat at his seat, getting in a quick-
"Language!"
Before Dad, Aizawa sensei now cause they were in school, walked into the room and up to the podium a plain folder held in his hands.
"Alright, not bad but still needs work, I could hear you all shouting from out in the hall. No notices as far as you're all concerned but I'm handing out a task sheet for your next assignment in heroics."
He held up the plain folder for all to see, not letting the contents slip out.
"To give a brief summary, it's a research essay about heroics. You need to develop a question about heroics, research it and then write an 1800 word essay on it. Read the task sheet thoroughly before asking questions. Also, if I see anyone blatantly copying off Midoriya, points will be deducted. Iida, Momo come hand these out please."
The sheets were passed out and, honestly? Izuku was a bit worried for himself. There were already assignments due for every class, which was to be expected considering it was the middle of the semester but it was tough. And it felt like Izuku had just been going, going, going with no stops or breaks. He had just stayed up last night working on that assignment for Midnight-sensei and he had done that for most of his classes too. He was tired and this wasn't really helping anything but he put on a smile and took the sheet that was handed to him. Highlighting all the relevant info and the key points he would need to address.
The day wore on much like that, classes went normally with Kacchan having only a few outbursts which was better than usual. Everyone was still loud but Izuku could deal with it, they were his friends after all and they weren't doing anything wrong. Lunch brought with it another small inconvenience, being that he forgot to pack lunch.
Normally he would have made it the night before, like everyone in the house, but he was studying and it slipped his mind. And everyone else was busy so they didn't make any for him, not that he expected them to because it was his responsibility. It wasn't a big deal, he could just go without lunch today. Sure he could have asked his dad's for some money but he didn't really want to admit he messed up. Call him childish or stupid but it felt like he was outing himself by asking if he could have money for lunch cause he forgot to make his own. It want a big deal.
Really, it wasn't.
He didn't get a chance to sit with Hitoshi today either, they usually ate lunch together but Izuku's friends were just really chatty today. And he didn't want to interrupt the conversation and ruin their talk. Even if they weren't talking to him directly but it hurt. Izuku enjoyed having lunch with his brother and missing it felt wrong, like with Eri and his lunch. What was with him today? First he forgot three things, Eri, his lunch and Hitoshi then he got given an assignment.
Ok so that wasn't that much and it they weren't huge problems either like facing off against villains. So, why did he feel like a failure just because of those things? It didn't make sense and it shouldn't be affecting him this bad, like, seriously! He fought Stain and won! He's gone up against nomu and the LOV multiple times but this? This is making him feel like a worthless failure.
A deku.
Ugh.
Pushing that though away, Izuku just decided to make it up to Hitoshi later, maybe they could cook dinner together? He'd make it up to him. Definetly. No time to dwell on that cause his final two classes were coming up, then he could go home and this weird, off kilter day could be done with. First Art History, Midnight-Sensei's class where they were handing in their assignments then Heroics, where they were having one-on-one sparing with quirks. Again. Yay. Seriously, Izuku loved All Might, practically idolized the man, but come on! It was beyond obvious he wasn't a teacher, constantly doing the same things over and over again and they weren't learning anything new.
Get your head in the game Izuku! Art History. Then worry about All Might.
"Alright lovelies! Let's see you hand in your assignments to the front please! Pass them foward and I'll come around to collect them, then we can begin today's lesson!"
Midnight stood at the head of the class, hand on her hip and the other raised in the air with her whip. Izuku dug his notebook out of his bag and grabbed the sheets of paper at the back, as the pile of assessments was passed foward he added his own to the pile. Once everyone's was gathered, Midnight-sensei did a quick count of them, hesitating for a moment before continuing.
"Fantastic! All here and accounted for! So let's begin delving into the pre-quirk era of art!"
Class went normally, pre-quirk era art was interesting but not his favourite. Sure it was cool to learn about how art affected the social statuses at the time. And it also gives people an understanding of how others viewed the world topics at certain points but still, not a favourite. Still Izuku took notes as he would his hand only slightly shaking, either from nerves or nerve damage he couldn't tell. As class was wrapping up Midnight-sensei stood tall at the podium.
"Thank you, everyone dismissed! Izuku, would you mind staying back for a bit? Just need to ask you about something! Nothing to worry about!"
Oh shit. What did he do.
That one sentence sent his stomach fluttering, he had been getting better with trusting authority figures and Midnight-sensei was like his aunt. But old habits die hard and middle school taught Izuku to always be wary when a teacher asks you to stay behind. The teasing from the class didn't help his growing anxiety.
"Ooo, Midoriya's in trouble~"
"What did you fuck up now, Shitty nerd?"
"Good luck, Mido-bro!"
"Tell us all about it when you get to heroics, hahaha!"
It was just lighthearted teasing, except for maybe Kacchan's, but it did nothing but make his stomach fill with more nerves. Midnight-sensei waited for everyone to leave before addressing him while thumbing through the assessments.
"I was just wondering if you had your assignment with you kiddo, you gave me the wrong one. This is your English assessment."
"O, oh! Ah, sure Midnight-sensei! I, I must have grabbed the wrong one from, from my bag. Uhh, let me h, have a look!"
Izuku, quick as lightning took off his backpack and brought out his Art History notebook thumbing through the pages quickly.
Nothing.
Uh oh.
Putting that one on the desk Izuku started frantically pulling out his notebooks one after the other. Thumbing through pages.
Nothing.
A search through his bag.
Nothing.
"I, I know I had it! I was working on it last night! I swear, I'm so sorry sensei, I did put it in here though, I'm positive!"
Another search through his notebooks.
Nothing.
Another search through his bag-
"Hey hey it's ok Izuku, it's ok."
Midnight had grabbed his trembling hand in her own, running her thumb over his own. He hadn't even realized he was shaking but he was trembling and there was a huge hole in his stomach.
"I, I don't know where it is! I swear I finished it and I thought I put it into my bag t, this morning! I, I swear! I wouldn't do this normallyI'msosorrysenseiyoudontdeservethisandIshouldhavebeenmorecareful-"
"Woah, woah slow down there! It's ok Izu, it's ok. I know you wouldn't do this intentionally. You can just give it to me tomorrow ok? And I won't put it down as late or anything alright? It's ok, mistakes happen."
"R,r,right, ah, I' I'm so sorry sensei."
"It's ok, just bring it to me tomorrow! Don't stress yourself over it."
Too late for that.
"R, right."
"Off you toddle, here I'll give you a late slip so it's not marked against you."
"Th, thank you. Sorry, again."
After packing up everything and collecting the English essay, he was gone. Almost sprinting down the hall to run into the changing room, the pit in his stomach and the shaking of his hands helping nothing. How could he be so stupid! Of course he had to grab the wrong essay! And of course of all days it had to be today! Everything felt like too much, like there was a pit in his stomach and a boulder on his chest. He fisted his hair and sat heavily on the bench in the changing rooms. But he didn't shed a tear.
He gasped for breath and blinked the tears away but he wouldn't let them fall. He had another class after all. Getting changed into his gym clothes was a monumental effort, it felt like they only added to the weight on his chest. He left his stuff and sprinted down to the gym where the class were sparring. Only slowing down once the doors came into view, he tried to open the door quietly but of course it had to creek and alert everyone to his precence. All he wanted to do was go hide and cry somewhere.
"Ah, young Midoriya! Glad you decided to join us!"
"S,s,sorry All Might. M, Midnight-sensei had to talk with me briefly. U, uhm, here."
Shakily holding up the note, Izuku gave it over then went to stand next to Uraraka, hoping to anything that she wouldn't-
"What did sensei need?"
Ask that. The pit just grew in his stomach even more.
"Just want, wanted to ask me ab, about my hand writting."
"Haha, you do have some pretty messy writting deku-kun! It's seriously hard to read sometimes!"
Another jab and another weight. She meant no malice but her words hurt and he was already in a bad headspace. He tried to put it aside, like everything today, but it just didt work. Everything that had gone wrong today kept replaying in his head. Spiralling his thoughts, losing his focus, hands shaki-
"Deku-kun, it's your turn."
Oh.
"Ahh! S,s, sorry!"
"It's ok Young Midoriya! Just step up, spar with Young Kirishima and remember, quirks are allowed!"
Shakily rising to the platform, Izuku took a fighting stance but it was sloppy. He was unfocused and he knew it but he couldn't bring his thoughts back to the present. Kirishima didn't notice anything and ran foward, fist flying foward and hardened with his quirk. Izuku really wasn't thinking because he grabbed the hardened fist and flipped Kirishima over his shoulder. The horrible tearing sound of flesh and cloth mixed with Izuku's scream ripped through the air.
"Shit! Midoriya! Are you ok? All Might sensei he needs medical treatment!"
"Calm down, step back please. Midoriya my boy, I need you to move your hands, let me see."
The gashes were bleeding pretty hard, his hand and shoulder were red and it was slowly seeping into his clothes.
"Someone grab the medi kit and a clean cloth for me please!"
Usually a stretcher would have been called and he would have been sent to recovery girl but she was out working at hospitals for the day. They really needed more medical staff at this school. All Might grabbed the cloth from Iida's hands and started cleaning off the blood from Izuku's hands and shoulder. It was a deep graze but it wouldn't need stitches, just some bandages to soak up the blood then let it heal naturally. Nothing horrible. But it was just one more thing to add to today's misfortunes.
"You'll be alright young Midoriya. Come, let's get you resting. Young Kirishima is the winner, next pair step up please!"
So Izuku sat in self-pity, with the whole class looking over at him. With bandages over his torn shoulder and hand, Izuku tried to hold back the tears. Only a few escaped but those felt justified considering the physical pain he was in before. His family was going to have a fit when they saw, he had a record going of not getting injured for a while. It was broken now.
Class finished quickly, All Might didn't even write up an incident report, and sent the group off to get changed. Because it was after school, the group could take their time going from the main campus to heights alliance. Izuku painfully waddled with his friends to the changing room assuring Uraraka he would be alright. Some of the boys looked worried, Kirishima looked guilty but Kachan just shoved past him.
"It, it's ok, really. I wasn't think, thinking and just grabbed you. I'll be ok Kirishima-kun."
"You sure Mido-bro?"
"Yea, it's ok. I'll just, just have a shower and m, meet you all back at the dorms."
Waiting for everyone to leave, Izuku undressed and removed the bandages, washing off the blood and sweat from his body. Izuku stood their in the showers, water pouring over his face, no one there to see or hear him. The weight on his chest grew, the pit in his stomach expanded and Izuku just wanted the world to swallow him up. Izuku sat on the cold, tile floor and let it all out.
Izuku cried.

Chapter Text
Shouta was getting worried, Izuku hasn't shown up to the dorms or their apartment yet. He had been acting a bit off today, a bit quieter than usual but he just thought Izuku was tired. After all the kid had been staying up and working hard to compleat some of his assignments so it would make sense. But him not showing up with the rest of the class?
Definetly weird and definetly concerning.
Both of Shouta's boys always made sure to stop by the apartment on campus to see their parents. Even though they were teachers at the school, seeing your parent as a teacher versus just as a parent was very different. They had to act a certain way around other students whereas at home they could just be a family. But Izuku hasn't come home.
"And your sure you haven't seen him?"
"Positive dad, we usually sit together at lunch but the hero brats took all his time today."
SMACK
"Ow!"
"Watch the tone, Toshi. You'll be joining those brats soon. It's better to make allies than enemies."
"Tch, whatever. But it's still true, I haven't seen him since lunch."
"Maybe Zashi has then."
Leaving Hitoshi on the couch, with a hair ruffle for good measure, Shouta picked up the phone and called Hizashi who was currently picking up Eri from daycare. It didn't even get past the second ring before Hizashi's voice was shouting through the phone.
"Sho, Sho! What's up babe! Just about to pick up our little munchkin who apparently did some drawings for us today! Isn't that the sweetest! I told her we'd have to hang them up on the fridge but I can't remember if we have any spar-"
"Look, Zashi as much as I love to hear you ramble I have a question."
"Right on, right on. Shoot away babe!"
"Have you see Izuku today? Besides this morning. He hasn't come to the apartment yet and I didn't see him walking in with the other kids. Toshi said he saw him at lunch but didn't talk to him."
"Can't say that I have babe. Have you tried calling him?"
"It rang out."
"Very weird, Izu usually answers even if he's been studying. Maybe check to see if he's at the schools library? You did just give that new assignment out. Have you asked the other kids?"
"I haven't. I'll ask and see if anybody has seen him but otherwise I'll head to the library. Thanks Zashi."
"Any time Sho! Keep me posted, ya dig? This is so not like Izu."
"I will. And by the way yes, we do have some spare magnets, three by the looks of it."
"You're amazing Sho! Alright, I see Eri! I love you and see you soon!"
"Love you too, drive safe."
Mind made up, Shouta walked to the door to put his capture weapon and shoes on.
"I'll be back soon, Hitoshi."
"No probs, can you text me when you find him? It's super weird of him to do this."
"Of course. Stay safe."
"It's litteretly just the school, what do I have to stay safe from? The oven?"
"You did blow it u-"
"That was Izuku! Don't blame me for that!"
"I'll see you soon Toshi."
First stop, the hellspawn. Moving down the hall to the elevator Shouta was left to stew in his worry. One of his kids was not here and that could mean he was possibly missing. Panicking never helped any situation but one couldn't help but let their mind wander. Shouta's class had been attacked as early as the second day of their high school career. And now his kid hadn't come home or taken a call from him. It could very well be that Izuku fell asleep somewhere or his phone ran out of battery. But it just wasn't like Izuku and his mind was starting to wander to kidnapping from the LOV. But he had to remain calm, he would find Izuku and he needed to ask his classmates to start with.
Walking into dorms was always like walking into a wall of noise. There was always movement in the dorms, people cooking, watching tv, getting a midnight snack, having sleepovers. It was all around. And today it looked like a small group we're watching tv just by the door. Perfect. Changing into his house slippers, Shouta approached the small group of Uraraka, Todoroki, Kirishima and Mina. All enraptured into a series of some sort, Shouta couldn't honestly care.
"Sensei! What brings you here? Did you want to watch with us! It's a pre-quirk show about these brothers who fly the awesome machines and save people! It's really cool!"
"No thank you Uraraka, I just wanted to know if any of you had seen Izuku. I didn't see him come back to the dorms."
"Oh, he looked like he was having a rough day. Umm, last time I saw him was when we were going to get changed from heroics."
"I felt so bad man, his shoulder looked really bad with all that blood but I didn't expect him to just grab me! I still want to make it up to him."
"Midoriya has already forgiven you, don't beat yourself up Kirishima."
"That doesn't make me feel better Todo-bro."
"Please don't call me that."
"Wait, wait, wait. What's this about Midoriya being hurt?"
"Ah, you weren't told sensei? We had sparring this arvo with All Might and Kiri was up against Mido. Well Kiri used his quirk and charged at Mido but he just grabbed him and shoulder tossed him! But because Kiri was hardened, Mido's hands and shoulder got pretty badly torn up! But it wasn't bad bad, it just looked bad.
"Alright, thank you for telling me Ashido-"
"You can call me Mina sensei!"
"I'll have to talk to All Might, again. So you last saw him at the changing rooms?"
"Yea, Midoriya said he wanted to wait for all of us to leave so he could take a shower. That's when all the guys last saw him, sensei."
"Alright, thank you all. Make sure you don't stay up too late tonight."
"Right!"
Ok, so that helped a lot. Now he had a location to work from. Putting his boots on again, Shouta headed back to campus, it was starting to get later in the afternoon now. The big UA building being bathed in a beautiful golden light. One might expect the halls to be empty but with the students living on campus many just stayed till the building closed at 6pm now. Walking through the few stragglers, Shouta made his way to the changing rooms that 1A used. He couldn't hear anything from inside but he still knocked on the door.
"Izuku? Are you in there?"
"D,d, dad?"
Oh thank heavens, a huge weight lifted off Shouta's shoulders as he heard his son's teary voice through the door. Wait. Teary?
"Yea it's me Izuku, you didn't come up to the apartment and I've been trying to call you. You ok green bean?"
Izuku didn't say anything but there was a big sniffle and the sound of shuffling from within the room.
"Izuku?"
Click!
The changing room door slowly opened revealing his son. His son who had red eyes, a red face, snot running from his nose and tears still falling from his eyes. Fuck.
"Shit, Izuku what happened? Are you ok?"
That seemed to be the wrong tho g to ask as Izuku threw himself into his father's arms, not quite wailing. He was holding himself back and it was heartbreaking to hear the cut off wimpers and crying from his son. Shouta wasted no time in wrapping Izuku in his arms, patting his hair and back to sooth the poor kid.
"Hey, hey, it's ok Izuku. It's ok, I'm here now. It's ok. You'll be ok Izuku."
Izuku just clung tighter and buried his head further into Shouta's shoulder.
"Alright, come on."
Shouta picked up Izuku into his arms, not an easy task mind you cause the kid was built like a small brick house but he would manage for Izuku. Quickly walking into the changing room, Shouta gathered Izuku's things and made his way towards the teachers lounge. More specifically he very comfy, private office which was usually used for meetings and napping. The halls seemed to be empty on the way to the lounge which was great and even the lounge itself was desolate. Teachers preferred to work in their apartments rather than their cramped teachers desks. A buzz came from his pocket but he ignored it for the moment, toeing open his office door Shouta walked in and put Izuku's bag down by the very comfy couch.
Shouta deposited Izuku onto said couch and wrapped him in the throw blanket that was resting their. It just so happened to be one of the softest blankets Shouta owned and it had a perfect use for wrapping his son up like a burrito. Shouta sat in the couch and brought the sad, Izuku burrito into his side. Continuing to pat his hair as Izuku still held back his sobs.
"It's ok Izuku, you can let it out. It's ok, I promise."
It didn't help, Izuku just hurried himself deeper into his side. Keeping an eye on his sons, Shouta pulled out his phone and checked the message he got before. Hizashi texting that he was back with Eri and was wondering where he was. He sent a quick text back, telling him he found Izuku and needed him in his private office at the school. Ignoring the next buzz, Shouta maneuvered himself and Izuku so they would both be comfortable. Moving so he was laying down on the couch, head resting on a pillow and Izuku resting on his chest. He put Izuku's head right over his heartbeat and rubbed his back through the blanket, resting his other hand in his sons curly green hair. Izuku's sniffles and Shouta's quiet reassurances were the only sounds in their little bubble.
Click!
The door creaked open as Izuku stiffened for a brief second.
"Sho? You said you found Izu? Is he- oh, sweetheart."
Zashi came and sat at the other end of the couch, scooting up so he could rub Izuku's back as he tried to hide further into the blanket.
"It's ok Izuku, we're here baby. You're safe, you're ok. It'll be ok."
Izuku's flood of tears came back full force as he burried his head back into Shouta's shoulder, soaking in the comfort his parents were giving. Shouta and Hizashi just stayed where they were and comforted their son through his flood of emotional distress. They would talk about it soon but they wanted Izuku calm first, no point in asking what happened if the kid couldn't talk. Soon enough the tears slowed down and Izuku's breathing was starting to slow down but his parents didn't stop giving their comfort to him.
Shouta sat up a bit on the couch, keeping Izuku in his arms, as Hizashi moved foward to be closer to the pair.
"Are you ready to talk about it Izu? If your not that's ok, just shake or nod your head ok?"
"It, I, I think I'm o, ok now."
The wet sniffle did nothing to reassure Shouta and Hizashi but Izuku was already sitting up and looked like he just wanted it to be over with. So they sat with their son, both parents kept a grounding hand on either his shoulder or back waiting for him to speak.
"I, I just had a bad day I guess but it doesn't feel like it should have been one I just, I lost control of my emotio-"
"Hey hey, non of that baby. What you feel is valid and it's ok to not have a good day ok?"
"Ok, papa."
"Zashi's right, Izu. It's ok to feel like this."
"I, I know. It, it just feels wrong cuse it was all small things."
And so Izuku tells his parents about his day with only some prompting from his parents when they can see him holding back. By the end of it all Izuku looks exhausted and his tears have dried up. Of course that's no indication if he would still cry or not, Izuku has always been an easy crier.
"Oh honey it's still ok, you've had so much on your plate recently with just school work alone. Not to mention the attacks and pressure from everything else. It's ok to have a bad day and all it takes is small stuff to make it a big problem, ok?"
"Papa's right Izu, you've been under the pump recently and I can tell you've been putting pressure on yourself. And Nemuri already told us about the assignment at lunch, it's really ok. She knows that you finished it, cause you always do, and she really won't mark you down ok?"
"I, I just, I let her down. I let you two down."
The tears were welling up again and Shouta was quick to gently grab Izuku's cheeks, turning his head towards him.
"Hey, hey, Izu. I need you to listen to me when I say this. You have never let us down and you will never let us down over something as trivial as homework. We know you do the work, you do it well and you put your all into everything you do. You could never, ever let us down. Even if you got arrested, you will always be our son."
"You're dad's right sweetheart, you'll never let us down ok?"
That did it, the tears spilled over like a waterfall. A flood of emotions, happiness, sadness, anger, stress everything spilled out. And his parents were there to soothe him, to comfort and ease the stress of the day away.
"How does this sound Izu, we'll go home and have some dinner, chuck on some movies and just chill for the night. We'll make some lunch while you pick you're bag and we'll just have relax for the night. Ok?"
"Y, yea. With Eri and Toshi?"
"With Eri and Toshi. But first is you're arm ok?"
And that's exactly what they did, they got ready together and relaxed together. Eri insisted on a pillow fort which they, of course, made together. With Izuku firmly in the middle of the cuddle pile and Eri settling on his chest, Hitoshi at his back with Shouta and Hizashi on the outside.

He was loved and he knew it.
