The moment the blindfold came off and an image of red eyes boring into his own green ones. The world seemed to narrow onto those two eyes, and Izuku could see them widen in surprise. His mouth opened in shock, murmuring his name as Izuku did the same. Only being able to murmur quietly over the muzzle, “papa?”
Even before the word had finished his father started to move, spinning the whole room into chaos. His face had settled from the shock, into something calm and angry. The air of violence behind the veneer of a businessman, the immaculately slicked curls, the sharp suit. Again it was something remembered from his childhood, but this felt wrong. It was wrong to see it here.
The 8 bullets charging into action, his father a live storm amongst them. The veneer shattered, leaving only anger in its wake.
Izuku could not think why he had not used his quirk yet, the bright yellow and orange flames that would burst from his mouth, had not been seen. Izuku longed too see them, if only to convince himself that this was not a dream. This was not some psychosis brought by the drugs they had pumped him full of, or the pain of being overhauled again and again.
Maybe it was like his quirk? Maybe it was his quirk, and that was why everyone was so afraid of it. He moved to fluidly between the Yakuza, striking one and then the next in quick succession, leaving no one unharmed.
Izuku was frozen to the spot, he wanted to go to his father, but something told him that he should stay put.
“KUROGIRI, GET A WARP HERE NOW!”
A large hand gripped his upper arm and yanked him backwards. Away from the action, away from his father. Who, as Izuku was watching, created a long sword from bits of dark sludge he held in his hand.
In a fit of confusion, that was not his quirk where were the flames, the large hand again pulled him back.
His quirk, their quirk. That was not his before.
Towards the door that would lead him into the compound and away from his father.
Letting out a chocked-out scream of frustration Izuku started kicking his legs wildly: flinging his arms about, the flashing red eyes snapping over to him. White hair stained red, all out of place an messy in a way not seen – his teeth were sharp and his eyes were cold. The man that was holding him, as Izuku struggled futilely against him, picked him up from around his middle. His other arm around his neck, and squeezed as he made his way backwards. Wheezing Izuku’s breathing was cut off.
Then the man’s bare arm pressed against his chin.
Izuku ripped the man’s quirk from him in the most violent way he could, focusing on ripping it from the man. Anything to get him off of him. The man dropped like a sack of flour, bringing Izuku down with him. Arm still resting on his neck.
The same moment a scream burst from the other side of the room as the quills seen normally seen on Ryo’s face fell off suddenly, as his dad drove him face first into the wall. His skull caving in. scooting backwards, Izuku tried to stand as he looked around the small room most of the bullets were dead. Dismembered and in disarray. His father was dripping in blood.
He was glowing in a way Izuku used to think he imagined as a child, and thought was a figment of his imagination in his isolation. He was glowing, and as he attacked more and more of Overhaul’s men he got brighter and brighter.
Izuku was so enthralled by his father fighting he missed the long legs coming up to him. Missed the foot that swung at his head until it connected with his temple, knocking him back to the floor. His head flew to the side, striking the floor and knocking his head around again. A loud groan punching out of his mouth as the startleded still.
The loud “IZUKU!” echoing around the room as the remainders of the bullets and lower level mod members flooded towards his dad. Suped up on trigger, even his father was struggling. Their quirks were varied and powerful, especially with Sakaki in the corner using sloshed on him. He was desperately fighting to get on this side of the room.
Izuku lay flat on the floor for a few moments more blinking back the pain in his head and the fuzziness that had replaced the fear and joy of seeing his father after so long. Shuffling forward, trying to get to his dad, despite the other members of the Yakuza still fighting him. A foot stomped on his leg, not enough to break it, but in his weakened state enough to stop him from moving. The figure who had kicked him came to his side. A spindly hand locked around his curls and pulled him up, the strands pulling his head as they went.
It could only be one person. One who liked to stay back until he was needed in a fight.
Gasping in pain, the pull of the hair and the thumping of the temple, a wave of dizziness shot through him as he stood. Stumbling back into Kai’s chest, Izuku saw his other hand raise up too his mouth. Yanking the glove off with his teeth his grip on Izuku quickly moved from his hair to the back of his neck.
The hand on the back of his neck prickled, like a thousand bugs settled under his skin, walking around underneath. He could feel the small undulations, the quirk buzzing in the space between his neck and the hand.
“Chisaki,” He was breathing hard, streaked in blood. His white hair was in disarray, his bespoke suit was no longer clean and fresh, the jacket had gone missing at some point in the fight. His eyes were hard and mean. “take your hand off my son.”
His dad spoke, it was just as Izuku remembered. It boomed across the room.
The rippling on his neck got worse, a harsh gasp escaping his throat, trapped behind the muzzle. The red eyes were boring into his own. Izuku loved them, for as long as he could remember, red eyes have always meant safety. They were filled with something he didn’t recognise them.
“No, I don’t think I will. Say, do you think I could Overhaul him before he takes my quirk?”
His father moves, and the bugs start to burrow into his skin.
He started to pull, on the golden spark attached to his neck.
“Izuku! Leave it!” His father shouted as Overhaul raced down his spine and arms and legs and the bugs went everywhere. “Let me take it!”
Then Izuku knew nothing.
And then light again.
