Work Text:
His window of opportunity was closing, and Kai was coming back soon. Kai was coming back with his enforcers, with Chronostasis, and Katsukame, and Rappa. He had to get Eri, and he had to get out. The plan was falling apart before it even properly began.
The alarm had gone off when he had run off. It had never gone off before, it had never done this. Kai had never changed anything before about his security system because he had always manged to corner Izuku before he had been able to make it past the walls of the compound.
The one time that he managed to get past the walls and the security and the men, he had done without Eri. The police had taken him to the station, and Kai had walked in as his guardian and had taken him to the room where he was torn apart, again and again, and again. All while telling him how even the system that he so admired would bring him back to Kai, how he would never escape him because Kai owned him in the eyes of the state.
That they would never believe him and would hate him and condemn him as a villain the moment they found out his quirk.
The alarm blared through the building, loud and oppressive in its intensity. Even if it didn’t manage to get the Yakuza’s attention, then it would scare Eri enough that she would be nearly unresponsive when he got her. Which was not what he wanted to happen.
Turning the corner, the lights were still bright and the alarm was still ringing out loudly, Izuku made his way around the compound searching for his small markings he left when he had last made it out of his room. Marking the direction to Eri’s and also the way out.
They liked to move him around whenever he escaped, blindfolding him and taking him around the compound to confuse him on where exactly he was before throwing him into a room. Smaller, and normally in a worse condition than the one before.
When he had first been taken, his room was clean. It was furnished with a bed, desk, wardrobe and a TV, with limited channels but still there. They had gathered notebooks and the pens that he had liked – that was creepy and always weirded him out when he used them. A fully functioning bathroom in a room just off his own.
The first time he had run, they had taken away the TV. He had been too delirious with pain and the exciting new feeling of remade nerves to check the room or his surroundings when he had been put back, but the next time he escaped, he was caught almost instantly in his confusion of being in a different part of the compound. That time it was his unfettered access to a bathroom, he would have to wait for someone to take him to the toilet, and due to his flight risk the only time he was cleaned was during his punishments – Kai would take the dirt away and he would be left clean.
The hallway was long, lined with a couple of paintings and potted plants – so he was closer to the living area of the base, nearer to where Kai and his 8 bullets lived. Not ideal.
And behind the plant pot, exactly where he thought it might be was a small carved simple. A small E with an arrow. No W – way out, and even if there was it would have been very heavily guarded as the back exit for the top members to escape from. The arrows formed a L shape on the wall, one pointing to the right, from where he had come, and the other pointing upwards with a small 1 beside it.
First hallway down from the right. There would either be another symbol or he would make it to Eri’s. Rushing back to where he came, shooting around the corner he found two more symbols, growing more and more agitated by how long it was taking before he came across Eri’s room. Digging out the keys he had stolen he yanked the door, shuddering when it wouldn’t open.
Trying again, he threw his body against it, watching Eri’s face fall harder and harder as the door failed to open.
“Come on, come on, come on. Please, please, please. Open for fuck sake.”
Turning wildly Izuku braced his shoulder against the door, turning to look to the side and alighting on the new piece of technology built into the wall. Going up to it and opening it up. The panel opened and dread trickled into his stomach as he realised what they had implemented into the doors of Eri’s cell.
A finger-pad.
An insane moment Izuku pushed his finger against the device praying that the gods, or whoever presided over them, would have added him prints to the system. And was met with a bolt of electricity shooting down his arm.
Screaming, Izuku wasn’t sure when he blacked out, but when he came too. It was to a forest of long legs surrounding him.
When they first noticed that he was awake they quickly took action, rolling him onto his front as someone kneeled on his neck, disrupting his airflow and pinning his head so he wouldn’t be able to move.
Coughing, Izuku tried pulling away as more hands grabbed and pulled at his arms, pinning them behind his back with another knee as they fiddled with something. Hands on his legs already tying them together. The knee on his hands were gone a second before his arms were pulled away from his body, bent into shape as they yanked on the coarse quirk nullifying gloves over his hands and attaching the two together with the small chain behind his back.
The knee on his neck finally let up, he was near passing out from lack of oxygen as they pulled him up, yanking him to his feet. Seeing an opportunity Izuku lurched forward teeth bared and sunk his teeth into the outstretched hand of the man in front of him. Biting down harder and stronger when he felt blood bust into his mouth and felt the grinding of bones under his teeth.
For a moment he could feel the other people around his freeze in shock as the man whose hand he held captive started screaming. Shaking his hand like Izuku was a dog he was trying to get off, only encouraged him to latch on harder. Then as the shock died down they moved as one, one hand grasping his nose while someone elses fingers dug into the bone of his jaw.
The frantic movements of the other guy had stilled as the other lower members of the Yakuza slowly pried his jaw off out of his hand. And before he could close his mouth again one of them shoved a square of something chewy and rubbery into his mouth before adjusting something cold and metal around his jaws. Keeping them closed and keeping him quiet from the ball on his tongue weighing it down. Then he was pulled along behind the men, only to have a blind fold secured into place a few moments after.
“Dude, I think he broke my hand. It fucking hurts and I can barely move my fingers.” Someone spoke from behind him, kicking him in the leg as he spoke. Someone dragged up and continued their march.
“Yeah, but that is your fault you know how unhinged this kid is. You heard what he did with Ryo’s quirk, using it against him like that. Got a full-on feral stray here. Why Overhaul told us to carry a muzzle when we collect him.”
There was silence before there were several noises of agreement. “I thought it was for the mumbling, because you know Overhaul, he hates it. Once when I was in the chamber the first thing he took was his tongue and made it go on for hours.” Stumbling Izuku faltered at the second hand descriptions of his torture being casually discussed. Falling completely onto his front when one of the people kicked him in his legs again. “Get up. Come on, get up and get a move on. The boss needs to hear about this.”
Another round of silence where Izuku walked into one of the men in front of him.
“Uhh, isn’t the boss in a meeting with that super villain on crack? Like the super powerful one. I for one don’t want to get in between Overhaul and All for One.” There was another round of silence before a groan of displeasure, “yeah but Overhaul did say to let him know if we ever caught him out again, like immediately. Especially if he found the new thing on the girls door. I think he gets off on seeing the kid upset.”
With an air of reluctance, which Izuku could only feel as the air charged around him, the yakuza members took hold of his arms once again and took off in a march. Dragging his feet behind him the men had to drag him along, even at one point slinging him over a shoulder when he tried to get out of their grip.
Finally, he was thrown against a wall, a foot planted his stomach to get him to stay on the floor. The sound of a door opening and the agonising wait.
All for One was not interested in the petty squabbles of a lesser villain group. He was a very busy and tired man, having to look after Tomura and the League. As well as organising Inko’s funeral and trying to find his son.
As well as the people who had been responsible. It had been a year, nearly one whole year since he had last heard his son’s voice the night of his birthday, and then he had woken up and nothing. No messages, no calls until a week later he was called by the police to tell him his wife had been killed and his son was missing.
All for One was sure to make sure most of the officers working on that case also disappeared, they had pushed his son’s disappearance to the minimum importance because of his so call quirkless status.
Even if All for One knew he wasn’t, and knew that anyone who would have taken him would have known of his own proclivity for stealing quirks. They would have most likely seen his son was no quirkless like they had advertised and would had taken him for that. To hurt him, to use him. It didn’t matter anymore, All for One was out for war.
This was why he was hesitant to meet with the new head of the Yakuza branch, just another meeting filling up his time that he could have spent looking for Izuku. Just another few hours were his precious Izuku could have been taken further than All for One could go to get him.
Watching the golden eyed hawk in front of him, he could not help but feel that this will be a waste of time. Even if the man was able to get him a serum to get rid of quirks, even if he was able to give him the gift of re-wind. All for One wasn’t too sure if he wanted to be seen inducing Yakuza. He had been one of the forces getting rid of them back in the day, and the man was remarkable in being able to dodge his question on where they were getting the drug bases from.
At this point he was treating it as a break, hardly listening to the blabber of the interesting quirk in front of him. Far more interested in the group of adults and the struggling child coming down the hallway to his left. Stopping outside one of the hidden doors where they threw down the child onto the floor – distasteful children should not be treated this way – when one of the lower workers of the lowest caste of the villain group came in.
“I am so sorry Overhaul to interrupt, but you told me to let you know when Izuku was found. We have him here outside.”
Not only was the sound of his son’s name on the lips of this underling interesting – in a way a lion stalks an unknowing antelopes - it was also the way Overhaul stiffened. It wasn’t the way he grew pale or shot All for One subtle looks.
“Take him to his room, I’ll deal with him later.”
He said, offhandedly after a way too long break. Suffocatingly fearful.
“No, bring him in. I understand you have several guests here I have already expressed my wishes to meet on, so I want to see him.” All for one said saccharinely. If it wasn’t his Izuku, he could still see how they were being treated. And if it was, he would tear down the Yakuza once and for all.
“Respectively All for One, he had just attempted to escape and must be rather tired, I wouldn’t want to exhaust him too much. He needs his rest.”
“That wasn’t a question, Kai.” He said in the angry silence, and without much grace Overhaul gestured to the man. “Forgive the muzzle, he bites.”
Humming in amusement All for One watched as they brought in a green haired boy, small for his age. With the same green curls that he had not seen since his boy was very small.
“Take the blindfold off now.”
They obliged, and from the blinking green eyes, to the muttered tearful, “papa?” All for One had already moved.
