Anachronism: The Titans Curse.

Summary:

 A·nach·ro·nism [əˈnakrəˌnizəm] (n.)
A person, thing, or idea that exists out of its time in history, especially one that happened or existed later than the period being shown, discussed, etc.

Hanging on the edge of chaos, bloody and grim, Nico accepts a deal given to him by the first god: Khaos.

Upon accepting the deal, he finds himself waking up in a familiar world but in a younger body with a sister that's very much alive. He'll do whatever it takes to make it stay that way. Though Nico soon finds that trying to save his sister from dying may be harder than expected when he sees the dominos fall in front of him. As they say; an eye for an eye.

Some things should not have been changed, for the better or for the worse.

Notes:

Warning: this is set after Nico and Will’s book but I have started writing the book before said book has been published. Any inconsistencies from the publication of the book and this story will be fixed.

:).

Spoilers: This book contains spoilers for Trials of Apollo and the books after The Last Olympian, along with spin-off series and, eventually in this series, Magnus Chase and The Gods of Asgards andThe Kane Chronicles.

Chapters: A lot of these chapters only range to 3000-4000 words, depending on the situation in this book! Which is shorter, compared to The Final Battle, which, *checks Ao3*, is around 200k words long. Hopefully this book will only be around 100k~ words long.   As a notice, as of the publication of this book and chapter 1 and 2, I have l 26 chapters completed and I’m currently writing The Battle of the Labyrinth, which will probably take longer to write seeing as though much has changed between the two canon divergent series so be prepared.

Writing: I’ve been writing PJO since 2019! It’s been on and off, I’ve found other fandoms and such, but I’m going to stick to this particular book and then try and test the waters. Before you head into the story, my updating schedule is every week, but depending on my workload (school/work), I might have to adapt and fix the schedule.

Every week, on every Wednesday.

Anywho, these chapters will not shy away from blood and death, please be advised! Also, this chapter is a prologue and doesn't necessarily need to be read but it can be used to understand the rest of the story. Most of his background relates to his choice of making a deal with Khaos, so yeah. Have fun enjoying the fanfic!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Chapter 1 - Prologue.

Chapter Text

Prologue Arc.

Nico is falling.

He can feel the wind pass by, flying through his hair.

His ears sting. The thought crosses his mind—he’s gained consciousness. He doesn't think about it for a moment. Then, Nico froze.

Why is he falling?

Flashes of images, quick and fleeting, of light shining behind his eyes. Nico feels a scream rip out of his throat.

The wind swallowed his scream, blanketing the sound. Why is he falling?

He can hear Will's voice in his mind, but warped; distorted.

He’s dead, his mind supplies. Nico swallows, trying his best to open his eyes. Why is he still falling?

Your falling in my realm, young Demi-god.

The voice echoes around him, in his ears. Nico would have opened his eyes if it were possible. His muscles strain against him, evading his commands. Pain blisters against his skin and a new wave of fear and pain rise within him and another scream echoes through the wind.

Realm? Nico thought, the words rattling inside his head. A beat passes and the air grows colder and hotter simultaneously. He’s nearing the bottom; he’s sure. Nico panicked.

Let me survive. Let me retry this. I—I need to save my friends. I can’t go out this way.

Why is he begging? What happened? Flashes of blood spurt over his memories and Nico stiffens, jaw tightening.

It seems your memories are leaving. Tell me, why should I save you?

Nico hesitates, forming the answers in his mind. You’re Khaos, right?

The air around him hummed in energy.

An agreement, then.

Nico swallowed and thinks, I—no reason. It’s my last thought. I’ll make a deal with you in order to live.

Nico fell.

I haven’t died yet! Why are you talking to me then?

A pause. Nico tenses, waiting to be erased.

I supposed, the voice murmured into Nico's ear. I do like heroes trying to save the people they care about.

I only want to see my friends again. I swear. You can take me later. Please.

Oh, I always like it when heroes find out what happens when they try to save a loved one. I’ll enjoy this story, young Demi-god. You have proved my entertainment. Prove yourself further, and I will allow you into the new world you created.

Then, Nico hits the ground.
