   Summary

   Some afternoons, Pete swam in the lake. Others, he dangled his legs out over the edge of the dock and stared at the still blue-green surface of the water, wondering why he could no longer see his reflection there.
   The loss should distress him, but this new lakeside home was tranquil and the image Vegas cast for him here was a compelling fantasy to sink into.
   Maybe Vegas could be reflection enough.
