Work Text:

tictoctictoctictoc

It was the dead of night. Winter nights were always long and cold, the wind harshly pushing against the old houses' windows. The guys were all up in their shared room, trying to grasp onto what they'd like to call 'sleep'. They never could get a good nights sleep, always in fear of an object coming to life and imprisoning them in a continuous loop once more.

Alas, tonight was quiet. The objects did as they should and sat still. Other than the cold breeze sneaking into the room under cracks of the house, the guys all could sleep peacefully tonight.

Meanwhile, one of the pig's objects was gone that night. He stumbled through the doorway, light hiccups accompanying mumbles.

The clock on the wall woke up from the sound of someone messing around in the kitchen. He was already annoyed, not expecting a visitor at such a late time. Long limbs extended from the body of the object, letting him slip off the wall and hardly land on the ground.

He yawned, rubbing at his eye to rid of the buildup near his tear duct and his throat croaking before he shut his jaw. Finally, he looked ahead, beginning his path towards the kitchen. Small glances were thrown to the other objects in the room: the computer, the globe, the gravel statue. All still sound asleep.

When the clock peeked his head into the room, he looked around trying to find the culprit. It only took a moment, quickly locking onto the blue lamp stumbling around the island and reaching for the fridge.

He watched as the lamp dug in the freezer mindlessly, knowing he had no actual goal to find food. For a minute, he just watched. Then he walked into the room, clearing his throat to make his presence known.

"Larry, what are you doing?"
The lamp visibly flinched at hearing a voice so suddenly, spinning around to face the sound. He quickly perked up, slapping the freezer shut abruptly.

"Aoh- hic Heey... uhm.. clocksworth... what's up!" Larry leaned against the fridge, falling short and nearly banging his head until he caught himself. Tony rubbed his eyes, his brain tried to decide whether to be annoyed or amused.

"Larry, what did we talk about. I don't want you coming back into the house this late, or in this state. If one of them saw you, they'd toss you in the bins." Tony had his arms crossed, having to look up at the slightly taller object.

"Mmyeah.. I know... but come oon tony! Can't you let a guy let loose..! You should hic try it for once, stickler." Larry began leaning forward, falling into Tony in a half hug. He was more-so clinging to the bottom of Tony's body, letting his legs chill behind him.

Tony held the lamp so they both wouldn't go crashing down the floor.
"No thanks, and cut it out with the names. If I see you come in like this again, I'll start powering you off at night." He watched as Larry slid lower to the ground, dragging Tony down with him. The lamp continued whining until they were settled on the cold tiles completely.

"Fiine.. only if you really want me to. Y'know that means I'll be like this during the day, right? Eeeveryones gonna see you babyin' me.." Larry's voice dropped a few octaves, a light purr to it. He buried his face just beneath Tony's mouth, hugging closer to his body.

The clock sputtered for a moment before he could catch the words in his throat. "I am not babying you. I am simply.. making sure you get to bed without being a stick in the-"
"Sounds like baaabyiinngg!!" He cut him off in a sing-song tone.

Tony exhaled deeply through his nose, deciding how he'd go on about this. They both sat there on the freezing kitchen floors for a minute before Tony could move.

"C'mon then, let's get you to bed." Tony began getting up, carrying Larry in his loose grasp. Larry woke up from his small nap, grabbing Tony so he wouldn't fall. Before they moved, the clock pulled the switch on the lamp so a light would radiate from it.

"I always liked the color of yellow your lamp provides."
Tony admired the other for a moment, quickly walking forward so he couldn't respond.

Larry just curled closer to Tony as he was carried up one flight of stairs to the guys' bedroom.

Before he could open the door, Larry whispered, "Tony.. could I just sleep near you tonight..?" Larry hadn't looked up, his eyes remained closed and his body was still curled up in Tony's arms.

"Why? Don't you want to accompany the pig? I think he'd be very worried as to where his lamp went.."

"Mmh.. sure... but he'll see me when they come into the sitting room. Please?" Larry finally looked up and locked eyes with Tony, the yellow light shyly shining out of his pupils. The clock inhaled sharply, glancing anywhere else.

"Alright. If we wake up to panic and chaos, I'm blaming you."

"Of course! Full responsibility."

He turned around, heading back down the stairs.

"..Was that my lamp..?"

"And our clock?"

They all stared at the door, glancing at each other once.

"I think the voices are getting louder." Red stared blankly before getting snug under his blanket again.
"Awe.. my lamp..."
"Quit your whining, you heard him. We'll see him in the morning."
