bloody and raw (but i swear it is sweet)

Summary:

This is an one shot inspired by a text i made to post on twitter, i’m a huge lilylene enthusiast so yeah i hope you like this! I chose to mix the angel of death of american horror story with this because i finished asylum recently and i thought it would be cool.
I’d like to say that english is NOT my first language so expect a few grammar errors because i'm human and i make mistakes. Also this is the first time i’m writing a fanfiction so i don’t really know what i’m doing. That’s it please enjoy mwah xoxo

Work Text:

It’s October 31st and Marlene is on her way to the Potter’s to tell Lily she’s still in love with her. Marlene needs it, she can’t take it anymore and she knows Lily feels the same. When she arrives at the house she immediately notices the change, it’s not like she’s been there a lot of times, but she knows. The door was open, it was not supposed to be like that, it wasn’t normal, not when death was walking around like they own the place. From afar she sees Severus leaving “No. No. No. Not my Lily” she says to him. She thinks its his fault so they duel until Marlene loses all her strength and that’s when he leaves her.

The time passes fast but she doesn’t care, her legs won’t work, she tried to move but couldn’t. It was like she was living in a nightmare that she can’t wake up, she’s tried sending a patronus to Remus to make sure he knows what happened but she can’t. There is no happy memory, because all of them are stained with sadness now, there’s no reason to feel that way anymore. When she finally sits down on the porch, the clock marks 3am, her whole body feels numb, what happens from now on? what is she going to do? she asks herself these two questions over and over again “What the fuck.” she murmures. It feels like an eternity but its 30 minutes later when she gets the courage to enter the house, the first thing her eyes lays on is James. The one who brought light everywhere he went, the person who could make you smile even when you’re crying, was lying on the ground without a hint of life in his eyes.

“I’m so sorry, James” her voice is raspy from the cry “You didn’t deserve this, no.. you of all people should’ve stayed alive. God damnit, James! Where was your wand? You should’ve protected her! You should’ve done something to stop him!” she screams blaming him, but she knows it’s not his fault. It’s easier to put the blame on someone else when you’re frustrated.

With one last look she follows her way upstairs, she looks into the master bedroom and Lily is not there “Maybe she escaped, maybe she got out. Lily is smart she wouldn’t die like this.” she thinks out loud but when she turns around to leave she sees Lily’s red hair staining the white carpet. Marlene can’t believe in what’s in front of her. She’s dead. Lily is really dead. This is not a marauder’s prank. Her skin feels cold and she looks more pale than ever. She’s dead and all Marlene can do is cry, so she cries for hours, because she lost everything she knew, Lily was her everything, she’s lost her chance to say goodbye and to say how she felt about her. There’s nothing there anymore, no happiness, no joy, no life, all of it is grey.

Life is meaningless. So she gets up and leaves the house, but she can’t help but feel empty, there’s a hole inside her chest. Everything is heavy now, her arms and her legs, she feels like she can’t breathe so she starts thinking about the only thing that can help her now. The Angel of Death, of course.

Her eyes filled with water when she saw who was approaching, it was Death. Death itself was present in front of her:

“What do you want, my child?”
“I don’t know.” she whispered
“Why did you summoned me?” the Death asked calmly
“She’s dead. What do I do?”
“You wish to find peace, I can give that to you. Only if you want me to.”

Marlene takes some time to think, it’s clear that she’s considering the offer. I mean she was the one who called them and what is there to live for? Lily’s dead, there’s nothing else. She looks into Death’s eyes, takes a deep breathe and nods, she’s ready. She can’t live no more. Where’s the meaning?

The last thing Marlene sees is Death coming near her, her whole body shuts down and she feels nothing. She’ll finally be with her Lily again.
