Work Text:
It all started one day when Suletta went to visit Miorine in her greenhouse. The redhead sat and watched as her friend tended to the various flowers and plants she kept. Miorine had been acting somewhat different than usual as she kept sneaking glances at Suletta, only to quickly look away when their eyes would meet. The older girl stood and walked over to the shorter girl before asking “I-Is there anything I can do to help?”
Miorine stopped pruning the small bush she had been occupied with and met eyes with Suletta before replying “Actually I have some flowers That I want to give you, do you think you could take care of them? They prefer bright, indirect sunlight.”
“O-Oh sure! I’d be glad to!” The taller girl beamed, happy that Miorine had taken her up on her offer to help.
Miorine walked across the room to grab a small pot that contained delicate purple flowers and handed the pot to Suletta. The redhead observed the plant carefully and spoke “These are such a pretty color! What kind of flower is this?”
Miorine blushed slightly and averted her eyes as she answered “They’re called Violets. Don’t forget to water them.”
Suletta smiled as she gently ran her finger across one of the green leaves and said “O-Of course, I’ll take great care of them so it grows healthy!”
Miorine lips curled into a small smile as she went back to pruning the plant she was tending to earlier.
The next time it happened was after Elan had invited Suletta out only for her to find that he had ulterior motives. She spent the rest of the day after their “date” getting comforted by the girls of Earth house after what he had said to her.
Miorine invited Suletta to stay the night in her room after what had happened hoping to cheer her up in any way she could, although to be honest Miorine wasn’t sure how to comfort her. Suletta sat sadly in Miorine’s room as tears clouded her eyes. It wasn’t like she liked Elan and hoped they would end out going out together but she at least had believed that e they were friends, at least until he told her he found her annoying. She ruminated on his words as Miorine watched helplessly as tears fell down Suletta’s cheeks.
Miorine gathered her courage and decided to try to comfort Suletta she sat on the bed next to her and gently grabbed her hand and squeezing it softly. Suletta leaned her face into Miorine’s chest and wrapped her arms around her waist. The younger girl slightly tensed at the sudden contact but then decided to cradle Suletta’s head in her arms running her hand through her hair lightly. They remained in that position for what felt like hours as Suletta’s tears stained Miorine’s pajamas.
Eventually Suletta’s sobs subsided and she pulled away to look into the white haired girl’s eyes. Miorine’s heart sank when she met eyes with Suletta’s red , puffy eyes. Suletta whispered “M-Miorine-san, do you think i’m annoying too? Maybe Elan was right and everyone is just pretending to be my friend.”
Miorine felt like she had been stabbed in the heart upon hearing those words. Sure , she hadn’t treated Suletta “the best” when they first met but she didn’t find her annoying, in fact far from it. Anytime she was around Suletta her world seemed brighter, Suletta was the first person to treat her like a person, and not just interact with her because of her family’s status. Miorine felt helpless seeing the usual bubbly Suletta in such a sad state, she had to do something. Miorine ran her hand through red hair one last time before standing and speaking “Wait right here.”
Suletta looked confused as Miorine rounded the corner and walked down the stairs of the room. Suletta heard shuffling around followed by footsteps coming back up the stairs. Miorine came back around the corner with a yellow flower in her hand. She sat back on the bed next to Suletta and handed it to her. Suletta delicately held the flower in her hands as she looked at it confused. In the low light it was hard to tell but Miorine blushed gently and she commented “It’s a tulip.”
Suletta looked at her incredulously and Miorine continued “About what you said, I don’t find you annoying, and i’m positive everyone else feels the same. Now, please don’t feel bad about yourself anymore, I can’t stand to see you cry.”
Suletta felt her cheeks warm slightly as she looked down at the flower in her hands.
Miorine mentally added ‘I only want to see you smile.’
Suletta laughed gently and leaned back down against Miorine. The younger girl wrapped her arms around Suletta and hid her face in the crook of her neck.
“Thank you Miorine-san, I don’t feel upset anymore.” Suletta thanked as she rubbed circles on Miorine’s back.
Miorine mumbled against her skin “Well I’m upset, who does he think he is treating you like that?”
Suletta pulled back from the hug and asked “Sorry, what did you say?”
The shorter girl rolled over onto her side so her back was facing Suletta and she answered “It was nothing, don’t worry about it. Anyways Let’s go to sleep now.”
The redhead smiled to herself and replied “Okay, Goodnight Miorine-san.”
Miorine blushed as she laid there. After a few minutes She heard Suletta quietly snoring and she turned over to look at her. The younger girl stared intently at Suletta’s peacefully sleeping face and whispered “You tired yourself out from crying so much.”
Miorine gently ran her fingers down Suletta’s cheek and blushed. She leaned in and placed a soft kiss against her forehead pulling away and questioning herself “What am I doing? I don’t know how to act around you, you make me feel like i’ve never felt before.”
Miorine sighed and laid her arm across Suletta’s abdomen nuzzling into her side before speaking “Goodnight Suletta, I love you.”
The third time it happened was after Suletta had dueled with Elan and won. She climbed out of Aerial and jumped down to meet Miorine standing on the sidelines. Miorine smiled gently as she grabbed Suletta’s hand squeezing it tightly. Suletta flashed her a toothy grin and hugged her tightly before pulling away and apologizing “I-I’m sorry I just got excited and-“
Miorine rested her hand on Suletta’s shoulder and comforted “It’s okay. Here I have something for you.”
Miorine bent down to pick up a small bouquet off of the ground where it was resting near her bag. She handed the yellow bunch of flower to Suletta and congratulated “Congratulations on winning the duel, though I never had any doubt you would win.”
Suletta took the small bouquet that ear wrapped with pink ribbon and observed it with a smile. “T-Thank you Miorine-san. These are beautiful, what type of Flower is this?”
Miorine felt her cheeks warm slightly and answered “They’re Daffodils, A common flower given for congratulations.”
Miorine wasn’t lying, they are often given for congratulations due to their symbolism of hard work but that wasn’t the only reason she had gifted them to Suletta. The other meanings of this flower rang true to her intentions as well, “unrequited love, and the sun is always shiny when i’m with you.”
Suletta smiled brightly and asked “Is that so? Well thank you Miorine-san!”
Miorine felt a blush creep onto her cheeks as she looked at Suletta’s eyes scrunch up into a smile that was directed at her.
The last time it happened was just an ordinary day With the two of them netting up to have lunch in Miorine’s greenhouse.
They ate sandwiches Miorine had made with tomatoes she had grown, and cheese from Nika’s goat. Suletta ate her sandwich happily chatting with Miorine until Miorine stifled a giggle. Suletta cocked her head to the side and questioned “M-Miorine-san, is something funny?”
Miorine smiled as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and answered “you have food on your face.”
Suletta felt her cheeks warm and reached up to try to clean off her cheek only for Miorine to lean in and say “Hold still, I’ll get it.”
Miorine’s cold thumb gently brushed against Suletta’s face as she cleaned off a bit of mayonnaise from beside her lip. Suletta watched in embarrassment as Miorine licked the mayonnaise off of her finger before speaking “There you go, all gone.”
Suletta felt like her cheeks were on fire as she averted her eyes. Miorine looked at her in confusion before realizing what she had just done. She felt her cheeks warm as she apologized “S-Sorry, I don’t know what I was thinking.”
Suletta shook her head and replied “N-N-No it’s okay.”
The rest of their lunch went by with the girls chatting about mundane topics. When Suletta was about to walk out of the door Miorine stopped her and handed her a large red flower. Suletta took it into her hands and questioned “W-What’s this for?”
Miorine felt her cheeks on fire as she answered “W-Well, I remember you telling me red is your favorite color, and these Camellias I was growing just bloomed so I thought you might appreciate one.”
Suletta carefully rolled the flower stem between her fingers and smiled. “Thank you Miorine-san. I’ll put it in the vase with the other flowers you gave me!”
Miorine blushed, Suletta had kept all the flowers she’d given her? Of course Suletta didn’t know the meaning behind any of the flowers she had given her over the past few days. Miorine was much too scared to tell Suletta how she felt directly, so she settled for gifting her flowers with hidden meanings.
Suletta and Miorine said farewell and The redhead started to walk her way back to Earth house. Along the way she wondered why Miorine had been showering her with flowers this past week. She walked through the door to find Nika and Chuchu sitting down on the couch chatting. When they saw Suletta they greeted her and Chuchu asked “What’s up with the flower?”
Suletta glanced at the red Camellia in her hand and replied “To be honest I’m not too sure. Miorine-san has been giving me a bunch of flowers this past week.”
Nika and Chuchu glanced at each other knowingly and Nika questioned “Do you know what type of flowers she’s given you?”
Suletta nodded “Y-Yeah, first she gave me some Violets, then a yellow Tulip, and after I won the duel she gave me some Daffodils, she said they were often given for congratulations, and now she gave me this Camellia. I’m not quite sure why she keeps giving me flowers. O-Of course I’m happy she’s thinking about me but my case is running out of room.”
Nika smiled and spoke “Suletta did you know that different flowers have different meanings?”
Suletta cocked her head to the side “They do? W-Well what’s the meaning of all the flowers she’s given me?”
“Well yellow tulips can mean there’s sunshine in your smile, and daffodils can mean Hard work, unrequited love, or the sun is always shiny when i’m with you.” Nika spoke.
Suletta felt her cheeks warm as Nika talked. “A-And what about Violets?”
“Violets are known to symbolize sapphic love.” Nika answered.
Suletta raised her eyebrow “S-Sapphic? What’s that?”
Chuchu chuckled “You know, WLW, women that love women.”
Suletta felt her blush creeping up to her ears and questioned “W-Well what about Camellias?”
Nika smiled “They mean passion and love. She’s been silently confessing to you Suletta.”
Suletta felt her jaw go slack and she stammered “W-W-W-What?! Miorine-san likes me?!”
Chuchu pulled her lollipop out of her mouth with a pop and asked “Is it really that surprising?”
“I-I just didn’t know she felt the same.” Suletta whispered.
Chuchu and Nika glanced at each other before turning back to Suletta.
“So are you gonna tell her you feel the same?” Chuchu questioned.
Suletta nodded and answered “I’m not sure how to tell her though.”
Nika grinned and suggested “Well, how about giving HER a flower?”
Suletta’s eyes widened and she spoke “I don’t know the meaning of any flowers though.”
“Well a red rose is good, it means ‘I love you’ no matter where you are, it’s a universal symbol of romance. Also there just so happens to be a rose bush nearby.” Nika answered.
Suletta walked to Miorine’s room with a red rose in her hands. She felt her nerves going haywire as she got closer to her destination. She stopped in front of the door to Miorine’s room and knocked. The door opened and Suletta was greeted by Miorine in her pajamas. Miorine cocked her head to the side and stepped aside allowing Suletta to enter. The younger girl sat at her desk and asked with slight concern “Is something wrong? I didn’t know you were coming, did something happen?”
Suletta stood there with the rose behind her back and answered “I-I just wanted to see you.”
Miorine blushed furiously, averted her eyes and sputtered out “W-What? Don’t be silly.”
Suletta stepped closer to her Miorine had her face turned to the side, looking away from Suletta. The redhead spoke “I-I have something for you.”
Miorine raised her eyebrow and turned to meet eyes with Suletta. The taller girl pulled the rose out from behind her back and extended it to Miorine. The younger girl’s eyes widened and she glanced between the rose and Suletta’s face. Miorine asked “W-What’s this for?”
Suletta blushed as she rubbed the back of her neck “W-Well you gave me all those flowers and I haven’t answered your feelings yet.”
Miorine blushed and questioned “Meaning what?”
Suletta sat the rose on the desk behind Miorine and grabbed her hand “Meaning, I feel the same. I-I like you too Miorine-san.”
Miorine stood up and looked into Suletta’s eyes and asked “You do? You’re not just saying that so you don’t hurt my feelings right?”
Suletta wrapped her arms around Miorine and said “I’m serious, I wouldn’t lie to you.”
Miorine hugged Suletta and buried her face in the crook of Suletta’s neck, smiling against her skin. Suletta pulled back from the hug and looked into Miorine’s eyes. The redhead cupped Miorine’s cheek in her hand and the shorter girl leaned into the touch closing her eyes.
“C-Can I kiss you?” Suletta breathed out.
Miorine’s eyes opened softly to look into Suletta’s blue orbs and she smiled answering “Please.”
Suletta leaned in until their faces were centimeters apart. Miorine could feel Suletta’s hand gently trembling against her cheek, and they both leaned in closing the small gap between their lips. Suletta gently pecked Miorine’s lips and pulled away opening her eyes to look at the shorter girl. Suletta was about to speak when Miorine pulled her back in kissing her harder gently nipping her bottom lip. Suletta’s mouth slightly parted allowing Miorine’s tongue to enter her mouth, their kiss was clumsy with teeth clashing together. Suletta’s hand found its way into Miorine’s hair as she tried to pull her closer. Miorine tightly grasping Suletta’s shirt pulling her into her. Miorine moaned slightly into the kiss as Suletta unintentionally pulled her hair. They pulled away from each other out of breath and faces flushed.
“That’s another thing crossed off my list.” Suletta giggled.
Miorine smiled at Suletta and asked “You wanted to date someone right? That was another thing on your list. Well I can help you cross that one off your list too.”
Suletta pulled Miorine into a tight hug and replied “Yeah i’d love that.”
