"Why are we doing this again?" The Boss whined as she glanced towards the man in the seat next to her.
"I already told you, people eat this shit up! Getting their merch delivered by us personally is great for PR," Pierce, the Boss' right hand man elaborated cheerfully, with a hint of pride in his voice.
"Okay, let me rephrase that," Velvet wasn't convinced yet, inspecting the purple box that was decorated in all sorts of Saints themed logos and phrases that was sitting in her lap, "Why am I doing this again?"
Pierce adjusted the rearview mirror as he prepared himself to drive, "Because unlike last time, today, we're delivering the prizes of the Planet Saints Fan Appreciation Celebration, and the conditions were that the winners get their rewards hand delivered by you, Shaundi and I in person."
"Then how come Shaundi isn't here?" The redhead pointed out her senior lieutenant's absence.
Pierce shifted in his seat and started the Compensator, "She made a very convincing argument."
"Oh yeah? What'd she say?" Velvet raised an eyebrow, she was curious as to how the other woman had gotten out of this boring job.
"She said 'no' and hung up on me," he uttered, adjusting his white hat.
"Damnit, Pierce!" The Boss rolled her eyes, "Fine, we'll do it without her then. Who's the winner anyway?"
"Some kid in the suburbs by the sounds of it, apparently won the contest by a landslide."
"Please don't tell me it's Jimmy," she remembered the obsessive fan her and Pierce had had a run-in with not too long ago.
"Shit, don't remind me," the man visibly shuddered, "but nah, this one's called Alex."
"Thank god," the Boss let out a sigh of relief, she wouldn't have been able to take more of Jimmy's ramblings.
"Yo, this traffic is putting us way behind schedule," Pierce scoffed at the slow pace the cars in front of them were moving, "we gotta be there by 4pm or else we aren't fulfilling our end of the terms of service."
Vivi pulled out her red phone to check the time, it was 3:44pm already, they barely had a quarter hour left. "Is it far?"
"The address is on a cul-de-sac in The Grove, we won't make it in time at this rate," he worried.
They were still stuck in traffic on the busy highway between New Colvin and Downtown.
"We should have taken a chopper, would have made for hell of an entrance."
"The heli might not have been able to fit what's in the back," Pierce pointed out.
The redhead turned around in her seat to take a look at the cargo they were transporting. There were dozens upon dozens of crates of Saints Flow stacked in the back of the Compensator. "We could have easily lifted that shipment in a Stork, those things can carry bank vaults."
"Whatever, it's too late for that now anyway. We gotta stop thinking about what we could have done, and start thinking of what we can do now," he put an end to that line of thought, focusing his eyes on the road instead.
"Well, just floor it," she blatantly suggested as she was checking her manicured, pink nails.
"Really, that's your plan? Flooring it?" Pierce asked in disbelief.
"What else are you gonna do, keep bitching about traffic?" She side-eyed him, "This thing is like a mini monster truck, you can just force your way through."
"And get the cops on our asses?"
"Jeez, when did you become such a pussy, Pierce?" The Boss set down the box she had been holding, and retrieved a Vice 9 from the glovebox, "We'll do what we've always done."
"Fine, you know what, yeh, fuck it!" Pierce gave up arguing and put the car in motion.
"Finally, some balls," the redhead laughed and gave him a pat on the shoulder, "alright, see that Attrazione on the oncoming lane?" She pointed towards the luxurious sports car coming towards them. "Most people see an obstacle, I just see a ramp."
"You can't be serious," he sighed.
"Clock's ticking, Pierce, we got eleven minutes to make this express delivery."
He hesitated for a moment, before finally crumbling, "Aight, for the fans..."
The driver of the Attrazione barely had time to react as the massive Compensator came speeding towards him with no sign of stopping. He screamed in horror as the large truck made contact with his sports car, using the low hood as an improvised ramp. The windshield cracked under the enormous weight of the other vehicle, the roof giving in to the pressure as it was pushed down, crushing the man inside.
From inside the Compensator, the act of driving over the other car was barely felt, the powerful suspension of the truck absorbing most of the bumping. Upon making it across the now almost flattened Attrazione, Pierce took a careful glance into the rearview mirror to look at the damage they had caused. "I can't believe that actually worked."
"Told you," the Boss gave him a smug grin.
"You've done this before, haven't you?"
"Would you even believe me if I said I didn't?" Velvet's smirk widened.
He just shook his head in response.
A few minutes and several thousand dollars of property damage later, the pair had almost made it to their destination, passing by a factory and taking a right turn into the cul-de-sac that the contest winner's home was located on. Pierce pulled up to one of the last houses on the road. "I think this is it."
"Great, let's get this over with. I need a massage after all that reckless driving of yours," the Boss hopped out of the car, holding the purple box in one hand, and putting the other to the back of her neck as she tilted her head.
"You're the one who told me to drive like that!" Pierce raised his voice, throwing his hands up in defeat.
While Velvet approached the front door, Pierce popped open the trunk and began unloading the many crates of Saints Flow, hoping they had survived the bumpy trip.
Waiting for her second in command to retrieve the last crate from the back of the truck, she rang the doorbell. It took only a short moment for movement to be heard inside the house before the door opened, but instead of a young teen, it revealed a tall man with a toned body, brown hair, and a stubble. Upon seeing both the Boss and Pierce on his doorstep, a smile formed on his bearded face.
"Hi, I'm the Boss, and this is my right hand man, Pierce Washington," Velvet introduced both herself and her partner formally, switching from her previous moody demeanour to a friendly, more professional etiquette. "We're here on behalf of Planet Saints to deliver the prize of our fan appreciation contest," she leaned to the side a little to take a look past the man into the home, "I assume Alex is your son, is he home?"
"Oh my god! I can't believe it's really you!" The man exploded in excitement, "I didn't think you'd actually come, I figured they'd just send someone random like those Johnny mascots."
Vivi wore a confused look before she finally put it together, "Wait, you're Alex!?"
He stepped towards the Boss with a big smile on his face, towering over her, "Yes, that's me! It's so nice to meet you!"
"Uh, likewise," Velvet shook his hand with a nervous giggle, before turning around to address her partner, "Pierce! You said it was 'some kid', but this is a man," she looked back at Alex, checking out his fit body, "and what a man he is."
Pierce rolled his eyes when he heard the seductive tone in the Boss' voice when she said that, he already knew where this was going, "Uh, hey, Alex, so cool to meet you, brother."
"Pierce in the flesh, I still can't believe it’s you! I got all of your albums upstairs!"
"Yeah, that's awesome man, uhm, this is the one year supply of Saints Flow," he carried one of the many crates towards Alex.
"Oh! And this is the limited edition, metallic paint Saint of all Saints miniature replica, the base of which is signed by myself, Pierce and Shaundi," Velvet happily handed the purple box over to the man.
"Sweet! I'm looking forward to adding it to my collection!" He beamed as he received the package. He then looked between Pierce and the Boss, "Speaking of Shaundi, is she here too?"
"Well, you see, about that-" Pierce stammered, trying to find the words to deliver the news that would inevitably disappoint their fan.
"Unfortunately Shaundi got very busy at the last second, which upset her quite a lot. She was really looking forward to delivering the rewards to such a big fan," Velvet interrupted, lying through her teeth with the faked sad voice of a mother explaining to her child why Santa hadn't visited them yet.
"Damn, that's a bummer, I was looking forward to meeting her as well," Alex frowned, "but I understand."
"Aww, don't worry sweety, I'll make it up to you, promise," Vivi inched closer towards him, taking hold of his muscular arm, and putting her hand on his chest.
"I-I- uh, sure?" Alex couldn't hide how flustered he was at her shameless approach.
Pierce once again rolled his eyes, still holding the crate of Saints Flow behind them.
"Pierce, you handle the drinks, I'm going to take care of our number one fan here, okay?" The Boss motioned for her right hand man to bring the crates inside.
He shook his head as he began moving the cargo into the house, uttering under his breath, "Here she goes again."
"Hey man, I really appreciate it, just drop them off in the kitchen, that's good enough," Alex hastily gave Pierce instructions on where to leave the energy drinks, before Velvet shoved him inside the house and around a corner.
"Don't wait for me, Pierce, just bring in the remaining crates and close the door, I'll get back on my own," Velvet yelled down the hallway as she pushed Alex in front of her, making him lead her to his bedroom.
