Work Text:
This is a story about Hiccup - the best human in the whole world.
We grew up together, but Hiccup grew much faster than I did.
I loved resting at the foot of his bed. Then we would dream together.
Wodensfang and Windwalker loved Hiccup very much, but he was my Human.
Every day Hiccup and I played together.
I loved to chase rabbits and to dig in his mothers flower garden.
Sometimes his folks would get very angry with me when i got into mischief, but Hiccup still loved me, even when he scolded me.
The years passed quickly and while Hiccup was growing taller and taller, i was growing rounder and rounder.
The older Hiccup got the more he slept and the less he liked to walk.
I was getting worried.
I talked to the Windwalker, but there wasn't much he could do.
"Hiccup is just growing old." he said.
It soon became difficult for Hiccup to take care of me, but i had to sleep in his room.
He gave me a soft pillow to sleep on and before we went to sleep, he would say to me "I'll always love you."
He knew I understood.
One morning I woke up and discovered that he had died during the night.
We buried Hiccup together.
We all cried and hugged each other.
We all loved Hiccup a lot and made sure to tell him so.
I was very sad too but it helped to remember that he told me every night "I'll always love you"
Fishlegs offered to take care of me.
i knew Hiccup wouldn't have minded, but I said no.
I don't think I'll ever have another Human.
Instead I left for the ocean.
But no matter where i am, I'll remember every night, "I'll always love you."
