    Xie Lian jolted awake, panting heavily, his hands clenched around his throat and his eyes wide with fear. Someone was bent over him, feeling hot hands clasping on his, as if trying to pull his fingers away from his throat.

    The prince shifted his gaze from the ceiling (no, he was not dangling from a beam) to his fiancé with extreme difficulty.
    Feng Xin's golden eyes planted themselves in his, as always. Xie Lian gasped again, unable to look away, and repressed with even greater effort the words choked in his throat, a question to which he really did not want an answer (Did you really come back to me in the end?) because, on closer inspection, this was not the same Feng Xin of his memories.
