    Jean didn't want to be Harry’s partner again; things had been bad, before, and he’d needed a break. And it wasn’t that he didn’t like Kim; Kim was a good man and he’d been good for Harry. It wasn’t even that Jean was jealous that Kim and Harry had fallen in love. That wasn’t what he wanted.

    He simply missed Harry, despite everything. He had begun to feel like a peripheral character in his own life. It was hard to feel like there was much point to Jean in a world that contained Kim Kitsuragi.

    But sometimes, things aren’t what they seem. Old growth has to be cleared out before something new can bloom, and maybe there was hope for Jean too.
