Chapter Text
Somewhere along a remote street of New York lies a humble cafe. A classic ‘hole in the wall’ as some might classify it. Despite its unpopularity, the food is surprisingly tasteful. Its lack of customers having been the result of something more unsavory than bad food. Currently, only the employee is present in the cafe.
“I’m surprised that manager of yours hasn't quit,” A simple ham sandwich is placed onto the table accompanied with a mug of black coffee.
“But I’m such a sweetheart, why would Kunikida-Kun ever want to quit,”
And one world renowned, A-list actor and child prodigy.
Dazai Osamu.
The same Dazai Osamu that has ditched his manager on the sidewalk and is currently hiding from him. Well, ‘hiding’ is an exaggeration. Dazai likes to consider it a fun game they play. A new and improved version of hide and seek just that it’s one-sided and ends with his dear manager blowing a blood vessel.
“DAZAI!” The door to the cafe is flung open and someone walks in, the door creaking as the rebound causes the door to slam shut again. The bell overhead shaking violently, ear piercing chimes ringing around the room. Bouncing off the walls.
A smirk has replaced Dazai’s perfectly innocent grin.
“Oh Kunikida-Kun, what a pleasure for you to join us! We were just talking about you!” Dazai’s smirk widens as he notices Kunikida’s eyes ablaze. His limbs twitch with unreleased energy and anger. Dazai, who clearly had zero will to live, beckons his manager towards him.
( Everyone who has ever had the misfortune of witnessing Kunikida and Dazai interact wonder how Dazai is still alive. )
“Do take a seat, Odasaku one Red Eye please and thank you,” Dazai sings out whilst simultaneously gesturing to the seat opposite him. Oda hums and returns to the counter with a smile at his friend’s antics. Dazai takes a sip from his coffee as he watches Kunikida struggle to contain himself throughout getting towards the seat.
“So, what brings you here?” Dazai asks simply, taking a sip of his drink.
Kunikida snaps.
“DAZAI ARE YOU INSANE? NO WAIT! OF COURSE YOU ARE! YOU ARE A CELEBRITY, YOU CANNOT JUST RUN OFF! WHAT IF SOMEBODY HAD RECOGNISED YOU? YOU NEED TO STOP RUNNING ABOUT EVERYWHERE JUST BECAUSE YOU FEEL LIKE IT!” Kunikida is panting heavily as he finishes. Tired, he situates himself onto the previously offered chair. Briefcase placed beside the chair, perfect and upright.
“Well I was craving Odasaku’s coffee”
“YOU ALWAYS GET BLACK COFFEE, THERE IS NOTHING TO CRAVE-”
Kunikida is cut off by Oda returning from the counter, cup in hand.
“Osamu, you know you should really be nicer to your manager,” Oda comments with a fond chuckle, setting down the coffee cup.
“Odasaku! I am nice! Kunikida is just a killjoy who doesn’t understand that I have cravings that need to be fulfilled too! This is unfair treatment, Oh Odasaku do help little ole’ me,” Dazai places a hand on his forehead to act the part of a ‘damsel in distress’. Smiling at the laugh his friend lets out.
Oda stands to his full height and looks Dazai down. In any other cases, this situation would put Dazai on edge, nerves ready to spring up and strategies already in place for a quick escape.
However, with such a warm smile being bestowed upon Dazai, his mind goes silent and he feels at home.
A hand makes its way into his locks, messing them up and then moving to his shoulder.
“Come on Dazai, don’t be a bully. I’ll be in the back if any of you need me,” Giving Dazai’s shoulder one more squeeze, Oda goes back to the staff lounge.
Dazai furrows his eyebrows at the loss of heat on his shoulder.
Kunikida picks up the cup and blows at it to cool it down. Sighing, a visible tension in his face. If Dazai were to describe it, Kunikida looks like a wind-up doll. All scrunched with anxiety and worries. A sip of the coffee is taken and a slight bit of that tension slips out.
The cup is carefully placed on the table once more.
“As I was saying before you ran off, you got offered a role from Bungou Stray Dogs Production.”
Dazai perks up at that. Being an A-list actor, Dazai is offered roles like finding loose change on the sidewalk. Easily and frequently. However, Bungou Stray Dogs Productions is one of his favorite companies to work with. It being the production company that produced the movie that shot him into fame is only one of the many reasons.
It is always a compliment to be offered a role, knowing that he not only fits the producer’s vision but was the vision itself is the highest level of an ego boost. And despite that, Dazai doesn't usually accept the roles due to the sheer abundance of them. A role offered by Bungou Stray Dogs Production however, now that’s a different story altogether. The company had an uncanny ability to make it so whenever the desired actors of the Production company accepted the role, the writing ends up flowing incredibly well and the chemistry on screen is palpable and indubitably perfect.
In short, a guaranteed success.
Plus, it was rare that the company ever did offer roles and Dazai wasn't one to pass on opportunities.
“Oo details, details,” Dazai leans towards Kunikida, elbows on the table, wide smile, now less malicious than it was mere moments ago, plastered on his face.
“It follows their usual movie premise of a world with powered individuals known as ability users. This time it focuses on a feared executive of the Yakuza sent to New York to set up a district and the leader of another feared crime syndicate.”
“Let me guess! They kiss and fall in love?” Dazai disguises it as a question even if already knows he’s right.
He’s never been wrong after all.
Kunikida nods an affirmative and pulls out a stack of papers from his briefcase. The stack is placed before Dazai who wastes no time and flips through the employment contract. It’s almost identical to all the other contracts he’s signed but no harm is brought from being cautious.
He’s had to learn that lesson the hard way.
“Ango has looked through it and has given the green light, your co-star is Fyodor Dostoveskey, I’m sure you’ve heard of him” Dazai’s attention is taken off the papers and is redirected to his manager.
Fyodor Dostovesky.
Only people who live under a rock haven't heard of Fyodor Dostovesky. Or better yet known as ‘Demon Fyodor’. Dazai first heard of him when the other gained popularity for his talents in cello playing when he was younger. Now, Dazai has never had an interest in musicians. Actually, he finds it all quite boring, having spent his entire childhood roped into learning and perfecting the art of violin did not help put the topic in a good light.
It was different with Dostovesky’s playing though, Dazai first overheard his playing when he was stuck memorizing sheet music at the ripe age of 6 years old. His parents were watching the TV which just happened to be showcasing the new ‘cello child prodigy’. Dazai had first dismissed the notion when they announced him but once Dostoevsky started playing, Dazai couldn't do anything but listen.
His sheet music forgotten as Dazai is overwhelmed with the pure and raw emotion being evoked out of his very being. The feeling was unforgettable. Even now, Dazai can remember the grip Dostovesky’s playing has on him. Dostoevsky, in his mannerisms, were the epitome of calculation and poise. Some might even say he speaks and acts with far too much composure to be truly human.
Dazai, having been the subject of similar comments, is inclined to agree. The way Dostoevsky is seems as if a mirror of his own self. They were both just imitations of those around them. Never genuine and truly never human.
It’s probably why they both do as well as actors. Since they were children they had no other option but to act.
Dazai believes that just like himself, Dostoyevsky was far from human. Dostoyevsky’s music, on the other hand, was what Dazai believed to be the manifestation of humanity itself.
It’s all quite poetic if Dazai were to think about it more.
Well all of that was irrelevant. The pressing matter was-
“So, he’s already accepted the role?” Dazai asks curiously to which Kunikida confirms. Ignoring the spark of excitement at Kunikida’s affirmation, Dazai smiles and nods his head thoughtfully. Wouldn't that be interesting. Putting the media-proclaimed ‘Demon Fyodor’ and ‘Demon Prodigy’ in a rom-com. The public would kill for that, Dazai was sure.
“Alright, I want in,” Dazai holds out his hand to which Kunikida readily hands over a pen. Signing the pages that required it, Dazai flipped the stack to the first page again once done and placed the pen on top of it, sliding it back to Kunikida.
“Thank you, I’ll need to get going but the script and details will be sent via email. Table read is next week,” Kunikida stands up whilst picking his briefcase off of the floor. Organizing the papers before keeping them back in said briefcase. Kunikida briefly nods to Dazai before heading towards the door.
“Byebye Kunikidaa~” Dazai sends, an admittedly less professional, farewell to Kunikida. He then proceeds to finish his coffee and check the time.
3:34PM
Seems like he still has time to mess around before he has to meet with his agent. Dazai picks up both cups of coffee and heads behind the counter to drop them into the sink. After that, proceeding to slip into the Staff Lounge.
“Odasaku~ I’m finally free from the tortures of the working world!” Dazai dramatically drapes himself across a couch. Oda, who is seated in the armchair opposite the couch, only smiles fondly.
“Congratulations Osamu,” As usual, Oda indulges Dazai’s dramatics, eyes still stuck on the laptop screen before him.
BBRM
A vibration emits from his phone interrupts Dazai before he can reply. Dazai only has notifications turned on for his messages and email. There was no way it was the email with the script and details, he just signed the contract barely 5 minutes ago. So that leaves one option.
Checking his phone Dazai’s eyebrows furrow at the message from Yosano.
[ Sano’: ] Since when did Fyodor Dostovesky follow you?!On all social platforms as well??
Good question. Since when did Fyodor Dostovesky follow him? Navigating to twitter Dazai searches up Dostovesky’s user and the first thing he notices is the ‘Follows you’ right beside his user. Looking over his previously liked posts it’s all fans raving about Dostoevsky following him. The devil works fast but Demon Fyodor works faster Dazai presumes. Easily, he follows back and goes through the motions of liking tweets about fans freaking out.
Right as he’s finished liking a post he receives three messages, back to back. First two are messages from Yosano. Second, one from Kunikida.
[ Sano’:] I know you saw this asshole reply to me!
[ Sano’: ] Are you two working on something together or something??
[ Kunikida’: ] Dazai, please refrain from social media activity without consulting our PR specialist. This is the last time I’m reminding you
Psh sure. Kunikida has said that tons of times. This has to be around the 20th time he has stated about it being the ‘last time’. Dazai decides to reply by leaving Kunikida’s messages on read, clicking back to Yosano’s contact to reply.
[ You: ] Maybe he just noticed my overall coolness and how hot I am? Not everything is about work yknow Sano ☆⌒(ゝ。∂)
A reply came just seconds after.
[ Sano’: ] WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON???
[ You: ] Whatever do you mean? ┐(︶▽︶)┌
Dazai pockets his phone after.
“ So what’s your progress?” Dazai asks, gesturing towards the half open laptop.
“At chapter 10, in a writer’s block so not much progress from the last time you asked,”
Dazai rolls off of the couch and walks over to where Oda is. Spreading himself over the back of the armchair, overlooking his friend’s laptop. Reading through the sentences on screen, Dazai couldn't help the proud grin that overtook his features.
“Once you're done I better be the first person to read it,”
“You are my editor Osamu. I think it’s in the job description. And with how much you read over my shoulder, you can claim you’ve read it all before it’s even completed,”
The two share a short laugh before lapsing into a comfortable silence. Dazai settles himself on the arm of the chair and allows himself to be lost to the repetitive clicks of the mechanical keyboard.
[ Sigma: ] Dazai Osamu has accepted the role, he’s your confirmed co-star
Fyodor reacts to the message with a simple thumbs up as he settles into his chair.
Dazai Osamu huh?
Fyodor would never admit it but he’s quite thrilled at the prospect of working with Dazai. Fyodor found out about Dazai Osamu quite early in the other’s career. Even considering how young he had shot into fame. Nevertheless, no matter how young Dazai Osamu was when Fyodor first found out about him, Fyodor only started caring to pay attention when Dazai had starred in a short movie at 13 before his big break.
Fyodor found a certain comfort in Dazai’s acting. Dazai had seemed to morph into the character he was playing, all personal thoughts and ambitions slipping away until Dazai was just a shell he could personally fill with his character’s traits. Dazai was talented, nobody could refute that, Fyodor could see it in the way Dazai was the perfect fit for every kind of character. Playing the next role better than the previous.
However, Fyodor was more interested in the inherent fluidity of his skills. No matter how talented an actor was, he has never seen anyone slip into a role like Dazai Osamu does. Like he has always belonged and been, that instead of acting he’s shedding his own skin to grow into one that was self-cultivated. One that was manipulated to mirror that of the character and hand-stitched by Dazai to fit his dimensions. It was baffling to watch, Fyodor couldn't understand it. And Fyodor hated not understanding.
So he did what he did best, pick apart the subject at hand until he could remodel it perfectly with his eyes closed. Until he perfectly understood every strength and flaw of the subject. Until nothing surprised him anymore. He expected this sudden obsession to go the same as every other one. Fyodor will hyperfocus on breaking apart Dazai Osamu into puzzle pieces then piece him together in the end again. Just this time, conscious of all the nuances that make up the actor.
Not allowing any room for surprise.
He should've expected Dazai Osamu to be the one to overcome expectations.
Fyodor learned fairly quickly that Dazai Osamu couldn't be broken down. You can't break something that's not truly there in the first place. Fyodor figured this out after watching an interview with Dazai from before he had picked up the flamboyant actor persona. It was like a key in a lock, Fyodor’s feeling of kinship with Dazai finally made sense.
They were the same.
When Fyodor had watched the interview, he found himself staring into what was seemingly a mirror of himself. Eyes that pulled in anyone that dared look into them, empty and never ending, refusing to let go until you yourself lost every sense of self drowning in pools of thick black sludge. Hints of red swirling menacingly, almost mockingly.
After the revelation, Fyodor was sure to keep track of Dazais career. He knew the other would make it far, it’s only natural, Dazai’s been an actor from birth after all. Forced to learn and adapt, a demon among mortals.
Now he finally has the chance to work with Dazai, how exhilarating. Fyodor is reminded of how he felt the first time he realized Dazai and him were one in the same. A curious solidarity, that now instead of one demon against humans it was them both, tricking the world of their humanity through the art of acting.
Right as the silence starts to be of comfort to Fyodor, it’s forced to an end by his front door getting ripped past its hinges and banging against the wall. The door is shut just as violently and a running sound picks up. Fyodor doesn't even need to guess to know who it is.
His office door is forced open and Fyodor glances up, almost lazily.
“Kolya.”
“Why didn't you tell me?!” Nikolai whines as he hurriedly walks over to Fyodor’s desk. Leaning down to meet his friend eye to eye. Fyodor only stares back and Nikolai has been friends with Fyodor long enough to have the meaning of the stare imprinted at the back of his brain at all times.
“You're so cruel Dos-Kun,” Nikolai continues sulking, milking the role of a ‘betrayed friend’. Then suddenly his eyes lit up and Fyodor raised an eyebrow.
“You should follow him on his socials, teaser to the fans,” Nikolai suggests eagerly, Fyodor’s ‘betrayal’ long forgotten. Fyodor turned the idea around in his head, it was a good idea. All things considered. He probably should consult with a PR expert just so his boss doesn't have his head. But, Fyodor always manages to make the most beneficial choices, any ‘impulsive’ choice never actually impulsive. Always thoroughly thought through every possibility and chance.
Fyodor hums indifferently, nevertheless, Nikolai smiles in accomplishment, knowing that it is the closest he’ll get to an agreement. As Fyodor pulls out his phone, Nikolai makes himself comfortable on Fyodor’s desk. Sweeping away stray stationary and decor before laying himself over it, head dangling over the edge. After deeming the position comfortable, Nikolai chatted aimlessly about everything and anything.
Fyodor paid no mind to his friend. More focussed on finding Dazai’s socials, using Nikolai’s mindless talking as background buzz. Starting with Twitter then moving on to his Instagram, Fyodor followed Dazai. He planned on just following him and liking a few tweets or stories about it but on his Instagram page Fyodor lingered.
Eyes looking over the feed there’s a sudden compulsion to scroll through the various pictures posted. Clicking on one of the more recent pictures, Fyodor was immediately entranced by Dazai. Silky brown locks curling in to frame a face known by millions. Full pink lips pulled into a smile, artificial but still beautiful. Chocolate eyes now holding a speck of light, looking into them was like a breath of fresh air. Sunlight haloes Dazai’s head, imitating that of an angel. Well in this case, a fallen one.
The rest of the world seemed to fall quiet. Fyodor knows Dazai is attractive but he has never truly taken time out of his day to analyze Dazai. Now he couldn't bring himself to look away. Fyodor didn't even notice Nikolai shifting to take a peek at his screen and the grin that subsequently grew on his friend's face.
“Baffled by your co-star’s beauty Dos-Kun?~” Nikolai teased cheekily.
Fyodor's features tightened before relaxing back into a false nonchalance. He refused to acknowledge the blush growing on his face.
“YOU ARE! Awww you're going all red!” Nikolai snickered. “Isn't that cute of you huh Dos~Kun? He is quite attractive, I just never knew you get interested in people so easily! You've never been caught up with your other rom-com’s other half,”
He pauses and thinks for a second. “Well, you've never had Dazai Osamu as a co-star, if I did I’d be all over him too,” A dreamy sigh follows the confession and Fyodor pays no mind, eyes still locked on Dazai’s face. But now it’s a different photo. It was a professionally taken photo, hair styled to have his right bangs tucked behind his ear. Showing of a jeweled earring. His eyes were closed but its corners were wrinkled from the wide smile Dazai has on display. The picture was a full body of a simple outfit consisting of a turtleneck and dress pants in a casual pose. So in most forms, the picture was a direct contrast to the first one however it still had the same heart stopping effects.
“You're so far gone you aren't even listening to me,”
Fyodor only playfully shoves Nikolai’s face as a response. Swiping up to leave Instagram and return to Twitter. Busying himself with liking tweets talking about his recent follow rather than figuring out what his sudden full force attraction to Dazai Osamu means.
Then proceeds to choose to ignore the way his heart jumps when he sees Dazai following him back.
“How pissed do you think Kunikida would get if I post a teaser?”
“I’m guessing his usual average amount,” Oda shrugs, passing Dazai yet another cup of pure black coffee. They were once again out in the shop, Oda deciding they both needed a break from staying in the same position and Dazai just happy to spend time with his friend.
Oda goes back to the coffee maker to make a drink for himself as Dazai aimlessly stirs the coffee in his hands, watching Oda move around gracefully. Every movement is smooth and with the ease of a professional.
“Hmmm I'm gonna do it.” Dazai shifts in his seat and whips out his phone. Turning a blind eye to the amount of notifications he has and immediately heading to twitter. Now, Kunikida has tried to lock Dazai out of his account and force Dazai into accepting Kunikida as his social media manager because-
“Dazai! You can’t just post you insulting the P.M. Agency because you want to! You could get a lawsuit!”
And his response to that had been,
“Relax, I've gotten into lawsuits and won all of them,”
“That’s not the point!”
Long story short, Kunikida has tried, he has changed the password, taken Dazai’s phone, he has done everything short of delete his account but Dazai always gets back in. He always hacks back into his account and post a stupid tweet and or story mocking Kunikida’s valiant yet failing attempts. Everybody around Dazai is surprised Kunikida hasn't quit.
At times even Kunikida is surprised.
Dazai searches in both their names with the word ‘follow’ and looks through the recent tweets. A few of them are more age appropriate than others but the more risky ones were always Dazai’s favorite to read.
‘MY BAES FEDYA AND OSAMU FOLLOWED EACH OTHER BACK TO BACK?!?!???1!!DOES THIS MEAN A FYOZAI MOVIE/SERIES???”
Dazai stays on that tweet for a little while longer. It was tame but the inclusion of ‘fyozai’ made him pause. Besides them both being A-list actors they had no direct connection besides their recent mutual following barely 30 minutes ago. Hell, Dazai barely signed the contract that binds them together an hour ago. But they already have a duo name, that’s fun.
Dazai quote-retweet that tweet with a simple,
‘🤭🤭🤭’
Then he moves on to search fyozai to see how much reach the miniscule action of following one another and liking a few tweets has. It seems Dazai didn't even need to search it up because whilst going back to the main search page, he notices ‘fyozai’ already trending. The world really eats up anything involving either of them.
He silences his phone, already receiving a multitude of messages from his friends ( mostly from Kunikida ). He also had to cancel multiple incoming calls from his manager. Dazai firmly believes Kunikida has to relax, it's not like he's doing anything going against his contract, having read the contract and specifically looking out for a clause against his usual teaser obsessed self. What can he say? He likes to spoil his fans. Besides he's known for always intentionally spoiling his next project.
“What’s the new project?” Oda asks, slipping into the seat next to Dazai.
“A rom-com with Fyodor Dostovesky,” Dazai replies easily.
“Oh the cellist you're obsessed with?” Oda says it in more of a factly manner than questioning. Having known Dazai since he was young means getting to witness Dazai at the age where his appreciation for Fyodor’s talents were not exactly subtle.
Dazai only smiles and nods proudly, he's never been one to be embarrassed. Especially not for the rare chance of him liking something.
He spares a glance at the clock overhead the entrance and stalls.
“Ah, it seems I’ll have to get going or else Ranpo-San will get cranky,” Dazai finishes up his coffee and dips his head in a bow to Oda, who leans over the counter to pull a black surgical mask from its box and hands it to Dazai. He slips it on with ease and moves towards the entrance, picking up a black cap from the window sill and placing simple shades over his eyes.
Dazai turns back to Oda as he adjusts the cap on his head, smothering down his hair to the best of his abilities. Holding onto the edge of the cap as he tips it towards Oda as a final parting who just watches with an amused lopsided smile.
Dazai swings the door open and steps out, the jingle of the bell fading as the door shuts behind him. Immediately being able to feel the wind, Dazai heads to his agency’s building with confident strides. Those around him lost sight of him the moment he stepped into their field of vision, not giving time for them to ponder if they’ve seen the tall bandaged brunette somewhere before.
As he nears the agency building, there is a visible increase of people present. Not enough for a crowd but enough that it's a bother. Most of the public chose to linger near the popular actor agency to catch a glimpse of their favorite actor, not caring for the risk of getting thrown off premise from security. For a popular agency you would think they would have grander headquarters however it was a humble five story building, exterior made of brick. More traditional looking in a sense.
Dazai ensures his disguise is on properly, in actuality he believes his get-up condemns him more than saves him. Anybody with two brain cells to rub together would think the person who enters an acting agency hiding every identifiable facial feature is an actor themselves. But it’s either the stupid get-up or walking in freely, at least the former means the public wouldnt know who he is immediately.
It’s moments like this he wishes he listened to Kunikida’s wishes of him getting a bodyguard. From the moment Dazai got his first stalker, Kunikida has practically begged Dazai to get ample security but Dazai always flat out refuses. He doesn’t like people watching him in private so why pay people to do exactly that?
‘Your safety?!’ Kunikida always rebuts but Dazai doesn’t see the appeal. Even in moments like this, Dazai prefers to tough it out than cave.
Holding his head high, he slides past the crowd to slip into the building. Taking a moment to appreciate the rush of cool air. Flashing his card to the security at the door. Bypassing the front desk, he takes off the glasses and unmasks himself, waving to the receptionists who giggle and smile. Checking his phone for the time, Dazai wastes no more time before advancing towards the elevators.
Arriving at the fifth floor, Dazai walks a familiar route to a wooden door and knocks twice.
“Why do you even bother knocking anymore Dazai?” Ranpo calls out from behind the door. Dazai twists the knob and pushes the door open. Sparing a smile at his agent who is slouched against his swivel chair, legs propped against his desk. Sitting on the chair opposite Ranpo, Dazai easily catches the lollipop thrown at him. Removing his own lollipop from his mouth, Ranpo tilts his head at Dazai. As if observing the other.
Something that used to eat at Dazai’s nerves, the only other time having felt so looked at was by his previous boss. Now Dazai knows better, knows that Ranpo was the furthest thing from Mori. or at the very least wouldn't do the things Mori did.
“So a movie with Dostoevsky huh?” Ranpo says. “That means new projects will have to be on hold but there are a few roles I know are good for you that start after the estimated wrap up of your current movie,” Ranpo pulls his legs from his desk, rummaging through his drawers for the necessary papers.
This was how every meeting went with his agent. Resulting in Dazai, more times than not, leaving with far more papers than when he entered. Ranpo always preferred using paper, not knowing how to operate computers and not finding any reason to learn. He knew the basics, sure, but he deemed learning the tricks that make using a laptop convenient a waste of his time.
For how smart Ranpo was, he had always been bad with simple tasks. That coupled with his young appearance always fooled people into underestimating him. Dazai never had that issue. In fact the first thing he noticed about Ranpo was his intelligence and overall danger.
Dazai blinks and three papers are pressed onto the table. Picking them all up he skims through the information on each one. As always the roles are exactly what Dazai enjoys, Dazai nods approvingly and Ranpo beams in the praise.
“Anyways now that we have business out of the way, you better let us know everything about the production with Dostoevsky. And stop avoiding Akiko’s questions,” Ranpo crosses his arms and accusingly wags a finger at Dazai who only smiles sheepishly.
“Yea yea I’ll arrange for drinks after the table read,” Dazai indulges as he unwraps the lollipop and pops it into his mouth, the wrapper discarded in the wastebin.
Dazai predicts he’ll have quite a lot to say during that outing. Surprisingly, he's looking forward to it.
