It was a great idea, Uzi had an amazing plan and knew exactly how she wanted to stage it, she had the people and help to set it up. She had her dad and herself to build the contraptions. N, V and J to act as portable launchers and Thad to be with. The major issue came up at relatively last minute. 2 hours before the scheduled event Uzi ran into a massive Problem, one that she had to act upon instantly if this night were to be PERFECT.
"What do you mean we don't have any fireworks?"
"All the WDF had was a couple flairs, maybe we could just get N to fire them out his launcher hand?" Khan responded.
Uzi gripped her hair, pulling it as she groaned to herself. She refused to let the night be ruined by this huge disaster. "F##k..."
"Language young lady!"
"Dad! I'm 17 in like... 8 days! Swearing shouldn't be a big problem for you..."
"Right.. Sorry... Dammit. So, what and how are we going to put on a firework show without fireworks? We don't have chemicals to make them, we don't have explosives to make them and we don't have the rockets to make them. Unless you can find a depot of fireworks that the humans for some reason left here, this show will just be some flying colored flairs. Uzi.? Uzi?!" Khan looked around for his daughter, only to realize she stormed out as he was lecturing her.
"For goodness sake young lady..."
With her arms crosses, her eyes shrunken into a scowl, she trudged out of the colony and in the direction of the spire. Uzi listened to the crunching snow, thinking on how the fireworks would sound as they burst in the sky. Fireworks would be perfect for this particular night, it was clear, not a deathly storm cloud in sight and now falling snow. Rare for this planet. She arrived at the foot of the spire and walked through the door, Uzi was confused to see it empty and hear it silent. No traces of N and V, or their 4 children. "Odd..?" She said aloud, slowly wandering further to the center.
It was nighttime, they shouldn't be asleep, they should be wide awake. The kids outdoor bedroom was empty, the mattresses looked used and the Generator was turned off with the 4 cables sticking out and laying on the pillows. She checked inside the pod, the deployable bed was lifted, the charging ports were still attached to the walls and the monitor was off. No matter where Uzi looked around, she just couldn't find any of them. It was then she decided to go find J, she had a squad tracker to locate her squadmates, maybe she would be able to find N and V for her. Without much else to do and the fact she was in a rush to find fireworks, she set off towards J's garage. A couple minutes of walking later and the garage was in sight, the door was down and there was a light beaming from underneath. J was in. She approached the door and grasped ahold of the bottom, lifting it up to see J examining herself. "I never really noticed that until now... My pubes are just a barcode... What happens if I scan it..?"
"J! Ew!"
"Holy s##t! Uzi what are you doing here!"
"Looking for N and V.. But clearly I interrupted something..."
J quickly fastened her suit around herself and pulled up her skirt. "So what do you want?"
"I want to know where N and V are AND I need to find some fireworks."
"N and V, I don't know. Fireworks, right in front of you."
Uzi looked down at her feet, there was a box of fireworks just sitting there, she had conveniently stopped directly in front of them. A box that was almost full of fireworks of various sizes. "If ya lookin for more, just look over in that corner.." J added, pointing to a corner filled with unopened boxes.
She ran up to the stack of boxes, they were all filled with fireworks. "J! How the hell did you get these?!"
"Back when you idiots were still hiding like a bunch of cowards. N when he was suppose to be hunting would sometimes go looting for whatever junk he could find, his absolute favorite was fireworks, if he found any, he would fire them all off then get back to hunting. To stop him, during the day, I would walk around with something on my head to block out the sun and round up all the fireworks I could and I locked them up here so he would do his f###ing job! They have been here... Ever since..."
Uzi blinked several times, she grabbed one of the boxes and began to carry it out. It was really heavy, heavier than what she would expect. She heard J sigh from behind, followed by her footsteps drawing closer. "Jayla! Get your ass up!" She shouted.
Jayla awoke, stretching her limbs and standing up. With bags under her eyes she approached J. "Yes mama..?" She politely asked.
"We are helping Uzi move these boxes. Grab as many as you can."
She smiled and ran up to a box, lifting it with ease. She ran up to another box and threw it above the previous box. Uzi watched in amazement as Jayla stacked 4 boxes and carried them like nothing. J was also holding 4, two under each arm while she struggled to hold 1. "I wana be a murder drone!"
"Awww.. Well that is just to bad pathetic little worker.. Trash will always be trash."
The 3 girls carried the boxes all the way back to the colony, at the open door, Khan stood waiting for Uzi. She placed the box down in front of her father and smiled smugly. "I told you I'd find some fireworks!"
"That's nice and all... But how are we suppose to set it up in half an hour?"
"We've been working for one and a half hours! When?! HOW!?"
"How about you stop complaining? And cooperate with your dad. You want this firework show right?"
Uzi nodded, Khan pulled out his toolkit and several other Worker Drones came out with pipes, steel girder's and wooden pallets. The engineers put together dispensers, moving sparklers, hydraulic contraptions, lines of benches and a control panel. Half way into construction, Uzi observed the fireworks being put in the metal pipes, ready for launch when she was grabbed from behind.
"Hug time!" N screamed, grabbing onto Uzi and lifting her from behind.
"AH! N!" She screamed.
N squeezed her tightly before letting her go, Uzi turned around to see N really exited. V was behind holding Dawn and following was Luger, Beretta and Amber. "So I heard you were doing fireworks I wana see the fireworks CAN I LAUNCH THE FIREWORKS!" N was so excited, he couldn't train his thoughts correctly.
"Calm down N." Both Uzi and V said at the same time.
Khan came walking over to the gang, a wrench in one hand and a firework in the other. "Everything is almost ready, I feel like your friend here wants to launch one before the whole show starts?" Khan said, staring at N who was bouncing up and down like a child on sugar.
N swiped the firework from Khans hand and aimed it into the sky, he grinded his teeth together to create a spark until one hit the fuse of the rocket, as the thruster began to burst, N let go and the 9 of them watched the rocket fly into the sky and explode in a colorful pattern. N was jumping on the spot whilst clapping. "What. A. Manchild..." J commented.
15 minutes had passed, for the first time ever, Worker Drones left the safety of the colony in mass. It felt so refreshing to be outside again, many had forgotten whilst many had no idea what the outside world actually looked like. Everyone stayed away from N, V and their kids. Boys eyed up J from afar. Soon Uzi was tapped on the shoulder. "Hey Uzi.. Nice looking display you got here."
"Oh! Hey Thad, you made it."
"C'ourse I did! Wouldn't miss your shining moment. Besides, fireworks are pretty badass, it'll be cool to finally see real ones."
Because of everyone's fear of N and V; Thad and Uzi basically had a free V.I.P spot to stay as nobody came close, the two sat down on the snow, holding each others hands and staring off into the distance, waiting for the fireworks. Uzi leaned back and rested her hand on her stomach and readjusted herself, to make herself more comfortable. N and V stood holding each other and J sat down, surrounded by the rest of the Worker Drones because of how frequently she visited. With everyone in place, Khan pressed the button on a remote and everyone watched in amazement as the fireworks shot into the sky. The colorful bursts lit up the sky, flashing for miles and miles. The cracks, bangs, pops and crackles echoed in the silent night, everyones LED eyes widened. "Its.. Its beautiful..." V said.
N raised his arm up into the air and began to fire missiles into the sky, V followed and so did J. Soon, both fireworks and explosives were detonating in the sky, everyone was cheering and clapping at the display. As Khan watched, he pulled the remote out again and pressed another button, a small green button. A large rocket suddenly flew into the sky, bursting into 30 different fireworks mid flight. It was almost as bright as the sunlight. N and V ceased and pulled their hands down, N dug his hand into his pocket and felt something, at first he was confused to what it was, until he remembered what he had planned regardless tonight. "Hey V.. Can I talk with you for a moment?"
"Yeah? What's up?"
"So... We have been... With each other almost a year now. And... We've started a family. There isn't anything else I could ask for, apart from one thing."
V's eyes widened further as she watched N get down on one knee, pull a box from his pocket and open it up, revealing a specially crafted ring with a skull shaped yellow diamond. "Will you.. Marry.. Me.."
V ran up to N and locked him into a hug, she was in tears of joy, feeling emotions. Real emotions. A rarity for her. "Yes!" Yes!"
The hug turned into a kiss, the Workers turned and clapped for the two. Uzi and Thad joined in on the clapping. After 10 seconds, they stopped. N slid the ring onto V's finger. "I'm the happiest Drone on this planet." N muttered, struggling to hold in his tears.
The firework display lasted another half an hour. The Worker Drones clapped at the end of the display and slowly began to make their way back to the colony. The gang gathered together, surrounding N and V. J stood forward and moved in front of N. "This has been a long time coming. I've been too harsh on you over the past years, now that I look at you. You've become more successful than I ever have... Good job.. Buddy..." J reached out to shake N's hand, N smiled and shook. "Thankyou J.. You're the best."
As the Disassembly Drones began to walk back towards the spire and the Worker Drones began to walk back to the colony, Uzi was still stood where she was. "Actually, I need to say something too!"
Everyone turned around, eyes looked onto Uzi. "What is it?" Thad asked.
Uzi giggled and pulled something out her pocket. Everyone gasped. Thad was mortified.
"Surprise.. Hehe.." She said, waving around a positive pregnancy test.
"I'm going to be a grandpa!" Khan cried for joy.
"aaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Thad screamed aloud, remaining screaming for 30 seconds before passing out from shock.
N looked down at Thad. "Strange.. He does that a lot."
