Chapter Text
"They need a sacrifice." , someone huffs.
"What? They need a sacrifice? And it has to be one of us? " , Clint questioned with his eyebrows furrowed.
"That women- she calls herself Lady Death, saying that if we offer a sacrifice, she's not going to "enact her plan of killing humankind" or something like that." , Tony shrugs.
All of them stand in the Quinjet in silence for awhile, some occasional whispers here and there, huffs of frustration and pacing back and forth while you sat alone in silence at the back of the jet, it was always like that though.
They would never include you in any conversations, they'd ignore you and only come to you whenever they had you to work or a favour, you were always sent on either suicidal missions, or none at all. They had dinner together like a family, while you would just stay in your room, they would laugh and eat snacks together during movie night but it's fine, you'd snack and watch a movie alone in your room. Always the brunt of it all even if it wasn't your fault, always dealt with the short end of the stick.
"Y/N." , Tony called out to you. You slowly lifted up your head to look at him, only to see everyone's eyes land on you.
"You are the best choice out of everyone here, Y/N." , Vision comments on the situation. You clench your jaw, you could of already tell they agreed, you didn't matter to them, not one bit.
"Can't help but agree with Vision, you're the only candidate out of all of us." , Natasha sighs in the pilot seat. Wanda nods at Vision's "suggestion" , "I agree with Vision, it's a logical decision if you asked me." , she says.
You squint slightly while looking at each of them, "Why me? " , you ask. Tony threw his hands in the air dramatically as if you said something incredibly stupid, "Can't you piece it together? We all have family here, we all have something to live for." , he says.
"Your parents are gone, you don't have siblings or relative, it's not like you have friends who care about you." , he adds. "It's not like you have anything to live for." , he shrugs.
Your eyes became blurry with tears threatening to spill over, "I- I have nothing to live for? " , you stutter. "Tony's right. We have people we care about here." , Steve walks past you to opens the jet doors, the light outside shines brightly into the jet but shadows dim the area.
Lady Death sits there in her throne with her loyal subordinates stood beside her protectively, her eyes curiously amused, excited to finally getting the sacrifice she asked for soon.
"Haven't I given enough? " , you questioned tiredly, all of them stare at you incredulously or without a hint of remorse. Steve steps in front of you, "You have nothing here, Y/N. You have no one, we do. So you can go." , Steve demands.
You nearly stumbled as Steve shoved your shoulder backwards, "You have nothing here, Y/N." , he pushes you harshly towards the receiving end of the sacrifice. "Don't worry, we'll clean out your room for someone better." , shoving you out of the jet, your shoulders might be bruised with how much force Steve used, it's not like he cared what would happen to you.
As you stared at the team with tears slowly making their way down your cheeks, you could see they couldn't of cared less, that they have other plans before Lady Death came knocking at their door, the sole reason of them bringing you here was to leave you behind.
"Kneel before me." , you hear her say. You were too tired to care, you just wanted to get it over with, to end it call. You dragged your feet in front of her and the throne, the sun setting in the background, the sunlight bouncing off the armor of the army stood beside their Queen.
You fell on your knees slowly before her, your head bowed down with your back hunched, the Queen saw the shine reflect off the droplets of tears that dripped onto your pants. She heard you whispering the same thing over and over again, over that incessant rumbling of the jet in the background and those humans groaning about how they could be heading back sooner.
She nods at the Captain who gladly shut the jet door before it took off a minute later, no hesitation with leaving behind their teammate, someone who swore to have their back.
Her eyes glowed a faint hue when she used her powers, a quick insight of your memories. How the team would leave you for dead. How you would deal with everything alone without them, even when you were dripping blood, all they were concerned about was not getting the place dirtied with your useless blood. How when they made a stupid mistake, they would leave you to handle the outcome, no matter how serious without harming any civilians. How they would either berate you with their words or not speak to you at all.
She stands up, her subordinates backs straightened. She steps in front of you, she feels the emotion rolling off of you in waves, the burden, the sadness, the disappointment... the acceptance. She bends her body towards the ground, studying you closely. The suit of armor on your body seemed old and poorly repaired, the skin you revealed weren't smooth and always covered by a type of scar, your neck exposed, revealing slashes and healed wounds.
She lifts your chin with her fingers and her cold heart felt a pang of remorse, your eyes were so hollow where the light should've shined. Your skin cold and scared, your eyes making contact with her's as you whisper, "Haven't I given enough? " , you mutter repeatedly.
The Queen clenched her jaw, the boiling hatred towards the humans that called themselves heroes to the world but how could they be so heartless to treat a beautiful creature like this?
"Join me instead, you'll be appreciated more than you ever would be with them, darling." , she whispers to you. "Give yourself to me and in return I'll give myself to you." , her slim fingers cup your jaw gently.
You look at her with an emotionless expression and yet your eyes said so much, "What do I have to lose anyways."
And the Queen smiles, she'll get revenge for you soon, and all for you.
