Finnick closes his eyes and focuses on his body. On his head resting on a soft pillow, on his hands lightly touching the bedsheets, on the tips of each of his fingers, on the placement of his feet and legs on the bed. On his breathing and his heartbeat. On Annie's soft lips trailing down his chest.
When he's with his clients in the Capitol, Finnick often feels distant from his body, as if it is doing things without him being totally connected to it. Sometimes, it even feels as if he is floating away from himself, watching the proceedings as if he is a third-party observer.
That's why Finnick likes to close his eyes and focus when he's with Annie. To make sure that he's fully present. He doesn't want to miss anything with her.
"Finnick," Annie says, stopping her kissing. "Are you okay?"
She's noticed his closed eyes, his stillness.
"Yeah," Finnick says, twining his fingers in her hair. "I'm right here with you, love."
