Work Text:
“What is that?”
Suguro pointed to the stack of hay that was piled up under Okumuras arm.
“Well, my old man always taught me to bring gifts over when I visit other people.”
“I guess that makes sense but most people bring flowers instead of hay, you know..”
Rin huffed and brought out a container that had several buns inside.
“I figured you’d complain about my gift so I brought these homemade sweet buns. Savor them.” He held the container in front of the other boy and Suguro hesitantly grabbed it.
Rin then walked inside the dorm room, holding the stack of hay under his arm, and threw himself on the bed.
“Oh, where are the others?” He asked. He did not want to be alone with Bon as their outing usually ended in fights. ”I think I made a mistake…”
“Hah? Don’t wuss out. They went out as soon as I told them that you would be coming over.”
“Lies!”
“Whatever, stop contaminating my bed and get rid of the damn hay. You came here to study so get to it!” He snapped.
Rin grumbled but did as ordered. Except he kept the hay and laid it on the floor and then promptly sat on top of it.
Bob ignored this because while it was weird it was not the weirdest thing that the demon bastard had done.
“Let’s go over what you know and study what you don’t know. Let me see your homework.” He said while bringing out his studying equipment. Pencils, erasers, papers, etc…
“Yes sir!” Rin proudly pulled out a crumpled piece of paper—which made Suguro wince— and handed it to said teen.
Suguro took one look at the paper and his face twisted into a grimace. “My goodness…”. He put a hand on his mouth in shock.
“What is it? It can’t be that bad.”
“Okumura, this is…just awful. Are you sure you’re related to your brother? Maybe there was a mistake at childbirth.”
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?! You calling me stupid?!” Rin stood up and yelled loudly for all to hear. Suguro Feared that his neighbors would hear.
“That’s exactly what I'm calling you! How can you fail this badly?! To this degree! I couldn’t even do this if I tried!”
Rin sat back down and huffed loudly. “Whatever, just teach me everything you got, damn nerdy rooster.”
Suguro refrained from lashing out. Now was not the time to fight.
“Well, I’ve taught you everything you need to know. I’ve written down a few questions and I want you to answer them, think you can do that?” Suguro asked with a tired voice. He was on the brink of giving up.
“Yessir.” And with that, he started writing his answers on the paper that was handed to him. To each question, he wrote his answer carefully.
And after a few minutes, he handed the paper back and this time the other teen had no negative reaction but neither did he have a positive one.
“Ah, 5 out of 12. That’s better than your homework. Well done, I suppose..” No matter how much he tried he just couldn't smile at Rin but at least he managed to stuff some knowledge into the other.
For Rin, this was a victory. He held up a fist and made a happy sound.
“Thanks, Bon! I couldn’t have done it without you!”
“Don’t call me Bon, idiot.”
“Anyway, I should go now. You can keep the hay.” He stood up and walked out of the dorm so quickly that Suguro had no time to react.
“Damn it! That idiot.”
He walked over to the desk where he had put the container and opened it.
A sweet aroma filled the room and his mouth started to water. He took a bun out and took a big bite out of it and pulled back in shock.
So good!
But as soon as that thought came another thought quickly invaded his head, making him sigh sadly.
“If only he was as good at school as he is at cooking. He’d be a genius.”
