Chapter 1: A Terrible Accident

Chapter Text

The preschool day had just ended for a certain little green haired ball of energy.

“Mom, Mom! Can we go!?” Izuku bounced in place as he held his mother’s dress, practically begging her to take him to his quirk evaluation.

Inko only laughed at her son’s excitement.
“well come on then, don’t want to keep
the doctor waiting.” She took her child’s hand and led him along to the doctor’s office, which was thankfully only a ten minute walk from the school.

ONE X-RAY LATER

“Nope, sorry, he’s got the double joint.” The doctor spoke with a carelessness and coldness to his tone, completely disregarding the young child’s feelings.

“Are you sure there isn’t a chance he could develop a quirk? Not even a slight chance?” Inko glanced down at the once radiantly smiling child, only to find a look of emptiness.

“Chances are, if he develops one it will be even weaker than yours or his father’s. I wouldn’t get my hopes up.” The doctor turned back to his computer and began filing away Izuku’s information.

“….come on Izuku.” She picked up her child and began walking out, stopping at the front desk to sign some things and proceeding outside where she finally looked at Izuku.

“….Mom? Can..Can I still be a hero? Inko’s heart broke at her son’s small voice, his eyes welling with tears.

“I’m so-“

BOOOOM!!

The sudden explosion of a nearby oil tanker knocked Inko off her feet and Izuku from her arms.

Her eyesight quickly flashed to black and back as she hit the ground, a ringing in her ears when she was finally awake enough to comprehend the world.

“Son of a bitch!” Another loud sound followed the shout as a massive ball of muscle was sent flying, followed quickly by…an American businessman?

Inko shook her head and scrambled to find Izuku, desperately hoping he hadn’t been too hurt the fall.

She caught a little spot of green laying amongst a pile of trash and hobbled over to it, taking in the sight of her baby, or what was left of him.

The explosion must have caught him head on, his skin was 90% burned at least to the 2nd degree, one of his arms was bent at a disgusting angle and his legs were mutilated beyond recognition.

“Nononono.” Inko could only mutter to herself, unwilling to even attempt to move her son.

“Let’s go you overgrown piece of shit!” The form of the villain Muscular slammed down not 15 feet from where Inko was kneeling, the left part of his face, particularly over his eye, was torn open.

The same American that had leapt after him quickly landed between Inko and the fallen menace.

“Are you alright miss?” His Japanese was exceptional, though the accent wasn’t perfect. He was built like All Might, his muscles prevalent even through the suit he wore.

“My…my son…” She could barely bring herself to look at Izuku’s body.

What she thought was the corpse of her son coughed suddenly, blood coming in a cloud with his hacking.

His body was still after his fit, but he had begun labored breaths.

“Jesus…I may be able to help him, but it’s risky, and he won’t be the same.” He hadn’t taken his eyes off the young boy.

“Please, anything, as long as he survives.” She could barely hear herself over the pounding in her ears.

“Bring the car around, and prep a MedCapsule.” The American seeming spoke to the open air, but moments later a black limousine pulled swiftly around the corner.

The back of the limo opened to reveal a sterile looking compartment, lined with electronic readouts and a comfortable looking bed.

A team of professionals quickly exited the vehicle and pulled the bed from the capsule, revealing it to be a detachable stretcher.

“Alright, my boys can take it from here, we’ll do our best to save him. Please, join me in the car miss..?” He opened the side door for her and revealed a lavish interior.

Inko watched as the men in white loaded her son onto the stretcher with utmost care, slotting him gently into the MedCapsule.

She quickly moved to the offered seat.

“Midoriya, Inko Midoriya. And you?” She took her seat and looked to him expectantly.

He shut the door and signaled the driver to take them to World Marshal Tower

“Armstrong. But please, call me Steven.”
