Work Text:
We finished our wonderful frozen desserts, not without Korra making a mess thinking it would be funny to playfully push my nose into sweet treat. She was nice enough to wipe the remnants off my nose with a delicate kiss.
“So, sweetie,” wiggles her eyebrows, “shall we make our way to the next attraction?”
“And where exactly is that?”
Korra grabs my hand with an excited grin on that beautiful face. “We’re headed to BIG THUNDER MOUNTAIN!!”
“Oh, you know I am down for some speed!” With a huge smile on my face, we make our way to the thrilling coaster.
While on our way, I think about the day I told Korra about the trip nearly 4 weeks ago.
It was late, I was late. I knew Korra would be waiting up for me. I turned the doorknob and made my way inside. Taking off my heels, I wander through the kitchen to grab a glass of wine before bed.
I am greeted by two arms wrapping around my waist and a soft hum of comfort against my neck.
“I saved you some noodles in the fridge.”
I hum in acknowledgement of her warmth and lean my head back on her shoulder.
“Thanks babe, I had a snack earlier this evening.” I turn and wrap my arms around her neck planting a kiss on those wonderful lips. “I do have something to talk to you about though.”
A worried expression formed on her face. “Is everything okay?”
We release our hold on one another and she lifts herself to sit on the countertop.
“I have to go away for a business trip in 4 weeks and I’ll be gone for a week.”
Relief washes over Korra’s face. “Is that all babe? You had me worried! It’s okay, we can make it a week, we’ve gone longer.”
“Well,” I take her hands in mine. “I’m thinking of making it a little longer… and hoping you would come with me?”
“Asami I—”
I put my hands up to stop her. “Because the trip is in none other than… Orlando Florida!”
Pure excitement is all I see.
“Does that mean?” I know that she could barely contain the joy she was experiencing at that moment.
Gripping her hands again, “Korra… Will you go to Disney World with me?!”
“You okay there ‘Sami? You look like you went somewhere there for a minute.”
“I was just thinking about you.” I side glanced over to her.
“I imagine it was a good thought?”
I smirked at her and grabbed her arm with my other hand as if to hug it. “The best.”
Waiting in lines was the least fun of the day, not boring though because with Korra, nothing could be boring.
“Just one more time Asami! Please?”
What’s one more round of ‘Guess That Disney Character’ I thought to myself.
A game that Korra of course came up with, and a game that I was finally not good at considering she knows far more characters than me. The rules are, you get three hints or descriptions of a character, and you have 3 chances to guess with 2 yes or no questions to ask.
“Fine… But don’t make it impossibly hard this time! Just because you know every single character, doesn’t mean everyone else does.”
“You’re joking right? Everyone knows who Kronk is!”
“Sorry, does not ring a bell.”
Korra tries to help her case doing her best attempt of an impersonation of this “Kronk” character.
“The poison. The poison for Kuzco. The poison chosen specifically to kill Kuzco. Kuzco’s poison.”
I am silent as I try to process what was just said. “Nope, still nothing.”
“Babe! We are so watching The Emperor’s New Groove tonight!”
“Sure, we will.” There is no way in hell she will be able to stay awake tonight to watch a movie.
Planting a chaste kiss on my cheek she promises me the next one will be easy.
“You have to get this one! I’m practically giving this one to you!” She leans casually against the rail as the line stops moving. “The character is blue, voiced by an absolute legend, and they provide comedic relief.”
“Hmmm,” making sure I think of other possible answers before giving her my guess, “It’s not Sadness…” I say as I look over to confirm. Korra smiles and shakes her head. That’s 1 guess. “I don’t suppose Stitch was voiced by a legend?”
“Not necessarily, not discrediting the actor who did of course.”
“Well, that would allow me to believe that the character is Genie!”
As quickly as I spit out the answer I am wrapped in her arms.
“See? I knew you could answer correctly!”
“Thanks, but you know that Aladdin is one of my all-time favorites. I had to at least way out the other options even though it was obvious.” I hope that was convincing enough.
Finally boarding the ride, Korra insisted we sit up front as not to waste this opportunity.
“I am so putting my hands up for the entire ride!”
“You and me both! But lets please take off our hats so we don’t lose them.”
“Very smart idea babe.” Korra takes off her hat and puts it in her backpack, along with my headband.
“Alright here we go! I promise not to scream too loud in your ear.”
“Don’t worry Kor, I’m used to you being a screamer.” A blush creeps onto her face when I wink and squeeze her hand.
