    Summary

Despite his debilitating mental and physical health, Sylvain couldn't bring himself to tell anyone what was going on. Part of it was that he wasn't sure anyone would believe him, but a much larger, more insidious part was the fear that no one would have any sympathy. After all, he'd never heard of an ae being so hostile towards their original. Felix was barely civil with his ae, but their bickering was only skin-deep, meaningless. Sylvain's ae, on the other hand, hated him. He knew this without even being told, a horrific consequence of the pseudo-psychic connection that came from knowing someone else so well, from being someone else. ae-Sylvain could barely stand to look at him. But maybe that's just what Sylvain had always been, and it was now as amplified as everything else in his ae, thrown back at him like a funhouse mirror. He couldn't deny that it made sense for his ae to hate him. He and his ae, in the end, shared the same rotten core.

Or: Sylvain's digital alter-ego is hunting him for sport. This would be distressing even if his stalker didn't have his exact same voice, face, and name.
