It was known that Zoro has a bad sense of direction, it was just a part of who Zoro was
One day Chopper noticed that he was squinting his eye, normally when doing so people tend to do it when they can't see something clear but for Zoro, it was all the time, one time Zoro and Chopper were on night watch when Zoro thought he saw a group of people swimming in the distance, but it was just a group of fish.
It was time for the crew members to have their monthly check-up when Chopper brought up the idea
"So I wanted to see if your eyesight was good, is that fine with you?"
"that's fine but, I already have glasses so I don't think I would need them"
"ehh really, I've never seen them on you?!"
"yeah I would wear them sometimes but now I don't because I only have one eye"
