Work Header

Dhampir and Baku-San

Summary:

Snap. The sickening sound of bones breaking and skin tearing enveloped them. In less than a minute, the blood sucker had been devoured.

The two others arrived at the clearing.

“Take the one on your left,” Izuku roared. His energy had been at least partially replenished with the short rest. He hated it, but he’d need to feed soon; human food wouldn’t be enough to get him back on his feet. However, even if he couldn’t move, he could still use his magic.
The boy against him mumbled, “Baku-san…”

Izuku’s eyes widened. The nightmare eater—that’s what the blond was!

Work Text:

“Fuck!” Izuku’s back hit the brick wall, coughing up blood. These blood suckers usually traveled alone; he didn’t expect for them to have company.

Looking back, he eyed the dark-haired boy. The fact that he managed to cast a sleeping spell before the mess started was his main source of relief; innocents didn’t deserve to live with the memory of these monsters. He’d have about an hour or two until the child awoke.

There was a flash of white and fangs that appeared dangerously close to his neck, only stopped by the reinforced collar and the crowbar that he managed to lift in time to push against the beast’s windpipe.

His regenerative abilities had slowed down considerably. This was his third day on the move trying to find the child. It was still two hours to daylight—too long.

Izuku’s enhanced hearing picked up two more running through the forest, coming their way; he really needed to end this now and take the human away before the others arrived.

2 minutes. He created some distance, conjuring a barrier. It wouldn’t last long. Both his dhampir affinity for sorcery and Toshinori’s training had improved his hunting, but it wasn’t flawless. The creature lunged; Izuku evaded. Sharp claws managed to graze his arm.

1.5 minutes. The creature screeched—a call. The boy squirmed in his sleep; nightmares no doubt. Izuku pushed himself, though he knew it’d be a close call. Calling upon his remaining forces, he summoned the sharp, wooden stakes doused in holy water he’d left prepared at a nearby church, and sprinted to hold the snarling beast down.chosen

1 minute. The vampire saw and hissed. It knew death was upon him. Covered in caked blood, his muscles beyond their breaking point, Izuku shielded the boy's body with his own. His vision went slightly blurry, but he bared his fangs, ready to fight head on. The bloodsucker would take the kid over his own dead body.

50 seconds. A click of teeth was heard. The moon was completely covered; darkness enveloped them.

40 seconds. A crunch of bones. A scream. Izuku brought the boy against his chest, standing up and getting ready to sprint the moment the barrier fell.

30 seconds.

A gravely voice snarled, “You’re an idiot if you think I’m the threat, you fuckin’ deku. What kind of Helwyr are you?”

Izuku laughed a bit maniacally at the stranger, but he couldn’t help it. “Who the fuck are you to speak?  Knock the beast at the end and call yourself a victor? Coward,” he spat.

The man before him had hair so blond that it shone like a halo despite the lack of light. His piercing red eyes marked him as supernatural—but, of which kind? Not a wolf; those had eyes of gold. Not a vampire; the shade was off.

20 seconds. Katsuki bared his teeth at the man before him. Dark, unkempt hair; no shadow; large eyes like jewels.  Well, well. A rare find. He spoke between growls, the seconds closing in. “A dhampir that left its sire? That’s a rarity. Keep the kid asleep just a little more—and don’t run; I know you plan to.”

10 seconds. Izuku’s breath hitched; he wasn’t sure what to do. He saw the god of a man before him transform, his hands and feet becoming claws like those of a tiger, his fangs elongating; he’d never seen such a creature before.

Time. The shifter’s interference allowed the vampire to regenerate.

“Move!” Izuku shouted, desperate to help, but held back by arms that curled tightly against his shirt.

The boy had summoned him. He shook his head; no time to think about that.

His target was approaching Baku-san. Aiming his pointer finger, Izuku let off a blast of air to catch the creature’s attention—it worked.

“Are you sure you want to deal with me, half-blood?” the vampire purred. In a flash, he was by Izuku’s side.

“Of course. I need to eliminate the Hisashi line and you smell just like the bastard.”

Its eyes widened. “You’re his-”

“His worst nightmare.” Izuku smirked, then finished the markings he’d carved on the forest floor and the creature burst into flames.

Immediately, he began to cough up blood again. Great. Internal damage; that took longer to heal.

The child stirred; Baku-san approached.

Izuku cursed. The being shouldn’t look as hot as he did covered in blood; it made his gums itch.

“It’s over.” The blond had reverted back to his human-like form. “What the hell is wrong with you? Aren’t you immortal like them or some shit?”

Izuku tried his best not to let his eyes wander. The navy blue yukata the man had been wearing had fallen over the shoulder, revealing a chiseled core drenched in that rotten crimson. Saliva pooled in his mouth; he swallowed thickly. “Thanks for the help, Baku-san. I’ve been hunting these fuckers for a few days.”

Baku-san glared. “You’ve done enough. You can’t kill them all in a day, dumbass; get some sleep. And call me Katsuki; Baku-san is too formal for someone who helped in the kill.”

“Will do, but…”Izuku grimaced. “The kid. His family was killed.”

The blond crouched. Even like that, he still towered over Izuku; could probably pick him up like a ragdoll. “He’s one of yours; you won’t keep him?”

It took a moment, maybe two for the words to sink in. Then, as the boy turned over in his grasp, the scent hit him. “He’s…”

“Your brother most likely.”

“Fuck,” he breathed shakily. “Yeah, yeah, I’ll take him.” Then his emerald eyes met the beings. He was so close, he felt a warm breath against his own.

Katsuki looked down at the blood-stained lips. They were chapped. Then, looking at blood-shot eyes, he realized: “You haven’t fed, have you?”

Izuku shook his head. “I only feed when necessary. It wasn’t needed until today. I eat human food on most days.”

The freckles upon the dhampirs pale skin were rare, mesmerizing; the large emerald eyes were absolutely hypnotic, and Katsuki decided to say, “fuck it”.

Grabbing the dhampir’s neck, he smashed their lips together, careful not to jostle the child. The other man tensed, and for a moment Katsuki thought he’d made a mistake.

Izuku did not expect that; he froze. Warm lips upon his cold ones seemed to melt his reserves, and just as the other was to pull back, he grabbed the man’s shoulder and pulled him closer, deepening the kiss.

A purr-like sound emanated from the blond’s chest, and Izuku smiled against the being’s lips.

“Cute.”

“Shut it.” Katsuki’s ears were blazing! He’d never purred; that was embarrassing as hell!

“Also,” Izuku swiped at the other’s lips with his thumb, “very hot. Is there something you’d like to tell me, Katsuki?”

“No,” he huffed. “Just, ugh, you can drink from me.”

“But-”

“Better me than a human, right?”

With a reluctant nod, Izuku carefully settled the boy on a bed of leaves and allowed large hands to guide him to the blond’s lap. Searching the being’s face for any trace of hesitance, he asked, “Are you really sure? You know it can have...effects.”

With a devilish smirk, Katsuki answered, “I don’t say shit I don’t mean, Deku.Take me.”

“My name’s Izuku, not Deku; remember it,” he whispered into the blond’s ear before allowing his fangs to pierce the golden skin.

Izuku had ever tasted blood so good, so addictive. The blond’s scent bloomed with arousal and Izuku couldn’t help getting caught up in the moment.

Katsuki had never seen a being so beautiful, so fearless, so interesting. He was glad he was summoned that night.

That night, the dhampir mated with Baku-san, and now the two, along with the little one, travel from city to city, defeating the vampires that cross their way in search for the one that started this whole mess: Hisashi Midoriya.

Legend says that if you summon Baku-san in the presence of vampires, Izuku will appear as well and join in the slaughter, the two sharing a blood-soaked kiss upon victory before returning home to Kouta—Izuku’s brother, their boy.

Notes:

This one wasn't beta'ed and English isn't my first language, so I hope it wasn't too bad ^^;

Dhampir-: the child of a vampire father and a human mother. Dhampir have the powers of a vampire, as their powers are similar to those of vampires, but without all of the usual weaknesses. Dhampirs are adept at detecting, hunting, and killing vampires. Most are driven and stubborn, yet strangely charismatic.

Baku-san: Baku (獏 or 貘) are Japanese supernatural beings that are said to devour nightmares. Legend has it that a person who wakes up from a bad dream can call out to baku. A child having a nightmare in Japan will wake up and repeat three times, "Baku-san, come eat my dream." Legends say that the baku will come into the child's room and devour the bad dream, allowing the child to go back to sleep peacefully.
