(Naofumi) And Jun, mark it as Log entry #1: Arrival. Begin recording, please.
(Jun) Yessir, I just marked it and recording the entry now.
(Naofumi) This is First Lieutenant Naofumi Iwatani of PAN Pacific Defense Corps., Jaeger Engineering Division. Today is, or it was, the date of August 15th, the year 2038.
In an unprecedented manner, I was summoned to a new world to try and save it. Still perplexed by this sudden change of events, I retraced my steps to make sense of this phenomenon happening; roughly 6 to 8 hours ago.
I finished my last few tasks given by the admiral and went to my quarters by my lab to finish the final adjustments to my creations.
The Jaegers, its incorporated tech, and its respective defense program went under serious overhaul since the last Kaiju attack three years ago. We barely made it out alive, so we’re going all out as much as we can since the Precursors upped the ante.
Jun, assistant A.I. for my Jaeger, Aegis Machina, informed me the list of daily reports came in. As I sifted through each damage report and status entry, I found an old book in the papers titled ‘The Record of the Four Holy Weapons.’ I asked her where it came from, but she had no clue other than having transdimensional energy coming from it, nothing.
After analyzing it enough to be safe to touch, curiosity took over, and I browsed its pages, telling me about the heroes and their weapons. The holy sword, bow, spear, and shield intrigued me, making me continue reading.
That book told me details about the characters; the king of great power deteriorated into an old, foolish man living in peace after fighting a war. And the princess was described as criminally mischievous. Both illustrated to look like they think they had control over the world while ruling a small kingdom.
It even had bios of the sword, spear, and bow heroes, telling me their personalities, ideals, and lifestyles. When I came to the shield hero, the section was blank, then the pages glowed. A bright light then blinded me; I felt like I was falling, and just as suddenly, I plopped on the ground in a room of priests with three others beside me summoned here like I was; to be the four heroes who save the world from the Waves of Calamity.
I got to know three individuals who came here with me from different worlds and forms of Japan. From oldest to youngest, Motoyasu Kitamura, Itsuki Kawasumi, and Ren Amaki. While I’m convinced that we are in another or alternate reality, those three thought this world was not real but a game. I’m not sure that such mindsets would help them in the long run with this world’s rules and its people if they rely on their game knowledge alone. I hope that will at least help them if they work together.
Alright, I’ll be wrapping up for the night. Tomorrow we’ll be ‘chosen’ by adventurers selected by the king to be our companions, then set out on our separate journeys. Though I have doubts that any will pick to team up with me, seeing as that the king had not acknowledged my presence, and that speaks volumes, I wouldn’t put it past this country’s people to not only spy on me but also try to sabotage me on the first week.
I can’t wait to see how this so-called ‘big adventure’ will turn out.
