She spotted him as the bright stage lights went out.
Sitting alone in the dim auditorial space, the square silhouette of his body emerged from the shadows, the face still concealed in darkness. His appearance looked as correct and flawless as ever. The elegant three piece suit fitted impeccably, his tie was carefully bound with expert hand movements. And yet this night the tremendously confident man appeared to her so vulnerable, almost fragile – though entrancingly determined.
When the usher delivered her note to him, he cast a glance in her direction. Then abruptly turned away and headed towards the exit.
