Losing Track Of Time

Summary:

Request: Enid’s family isn’t the greatest to her and Wednesday helps her out. Like they look down on her for not being able to transform.

Notes:

Work Text:

Enid’s home life wasn’t the greatest, her parents would scorn and shame her for being born. They would constantly remind her of all her failures and look down on her. It wasn't just her parents it was her whole pack.

They would make fun of her for not being able to transform and the ones that didn't would look at her with pity (in Enid’s opinion that was the worst way).

They didn’t allow her to come home for any holidays or vacations. Instead, she would spend her time at Nevermore, all year, every year.

It hasn’t always been like this, they used to be kind and caring werewolves. That all changed when Enid didn’t transform when she was supposed to.

Werewolves usually transform as young as eleven and as old as fifteen.

Her parents taught her the best ways to transform when she came of age. The night she was supposed to transform something went wrong. No matter how much she tried she couldn't.

Her pack nearly killed her, if it hadn’t been for a giant tree she climbed up she wouldn’t have survived that night.

Everything changed from then on out, her pack mates treated her as if they weren't been friends since childhood.

Her parents went as far as to send her the elders, the wisest of them all, despite the name most of the elders were young.

The elders decreed that if she couldn’t transform by the age of eighteen she was to be exiled from the pack. Her parents sent her to Nevermore hoping to fix her mistake.

They thought if she was around people like her she would magically get the urge to shift into her werewolf self. They had been wrong (no surprise there).

When she arrived at Nevermore things couldn't be more different or rather the same.

Nevermore gave Enid a chance to be herself for a change, without anyone saying otherwise. The only difference being she was still a wolf who couldn't transform.

When everyone started to turn against her after learning the reason behind her sudden transfer. Enid put on a façade, a fake smile, a show that way no one could see how much she was hurting.

It was working perfectly until her roommate from hell (or so she thought) came to Nevermore, Wednesday Addams.

Wednesday Addams was the only daughter of the famous Morticia and Gomez Addams. She was the complete opposite of Enid in every way imaginable.

If Enid was the sun, then, Wednesday was the moon.

They were thrown together by fate and forced to make do with what they had.

They didn't get along at the start. Wednesday threatened her.

When she found out Enid couldn't transform her first action was to confirm if Enid had claws or not. After Enid confirmed she did, in fact, have claws Wednesday wanted to see them. Enid showed her without a moment's thought.

From that moment on their relationship changed for the better. Wednesday no longer threatened her and by that, she means Wednesday no longer had any bite behind her threats.

She would not get mad at her for going over to her side of the room.

“What's wrong?” When Enid looked up she was met by Wednesday staring down at her.

“It's nothing.” She said.

“Nothing? If it was nothing you wouldn't be crying.” Wednesday gesture’s to her face.

Enid reached up to feel her face, she was indeed crying. The tears had made their way down her face and onto her chin.

She hadn't realized she’d been crying until Wednesday said something.

Enid tried to wipe the tears off her face. “It's, um, my parents, they said they're not coming to get and I should just stay here.” She could feel the tears fighting to spill out again.

Wednesday looked at her with what seemed like pity. The one thing Enid hated was someone looking at her with pity.

“It's fine, I'm used to it.” The blonde said, sounding angrier than she meant it to.

The Addams reached her hand into her coat pocket. “I can kill them if you want.” She handed Enid a handkerchief for her tears.

Enid grabbed the handkerchief, using it to wipe away the tears that fell. “No, Wednesday, you can't kill my parents.” She laughed.

She couldn’t tell if the girl was being serious or not.

Wednesday took a seat beside Enid on the bed. “Why not?” She asked.

“Because if you kill them I'll have no one.” Enid breathed out, her smile faded upon registering what she said.

Wednesday leaned in closer to Enid, looking her straight in the eyes. “You’ll still have me.”

I have you?” she asked, wanting to know if Wednesday had said what she thought she just said.

Wednesday nodded her head. “Yes, you do,” she answered.

They were staring into each other's eyes. Wednesday’s eyes were a beautiful dark brown. How had Enid never noticed how gorgeous her eyes were before? Wednesday appeared to be deep in thought.

For what felt like an eternity, Wednesday stood up. “Come with me.” She grabbed Enid’s bag and tossed it to her.

Wednesday walked over to her side and grabbed her bag. “Where are we going?”

“Home,” was her only answer before walking out the door, Enid following closely behind her.

When they walked down they were met with a dark hearse that looked like it came out of the 1950s. It wasn't your regular hearse, the side view mirrors were shaped like bat wings and the window covers were web shaped.

A tall beautiful woman and a short man stepped out of the hearse. Enid vividly remembered them from Wednesday’s first day at Nevermore.

“Wednesday!” They cheered opening their arms and pulling her into a big hug.

Wednesday gestured towards the blonde. “Mother, father, I believe you’ve met Enid.” The couple turned to Enid, looking like they only just noticed she was there. “She’ll be staying with us for the time being.”

Enid thought they would protest against it or at the very least want an explanation, instead, they smiled at her. “Enid, we're happy you could join us.”

They turned their attention from Wednesday to her. “You take good care of our little Wednesday, alright?” All Enid could do was nod at the question.

“I'll try my best Mr. and Mrs. Addams,” she answered.

Mr. Addams waved her off. “No, none of that, call me Gomez.”

“Call me Morticia.” his wife added.

Enid didn't know how to react to this. Calling Wednesday’s parents by their first names.

Wednesday walked between them, separating them from her. “Quit it, you're overwhelming her.”

They couple apologized before engaging in their own conversion.

Enid glanced over to the Cadillac again. There was a boy in the front seat playing with a knife, he couldn't have been older than thirteen.

A large man hopped out of the car, he was wearing a butler uniform, and his eyes were different colors, one was grey and the other was brown.

Wednesday followed her gaze to the man . “That's lurch, he's our attendant. We found him in an insane asylum” she explained.

Lurch stared at Enid straight in the eye, and Enid swallowed. “He’s not as scary as he looks,” the dark-haired girl reassured her.

Lurch walked over to them, gesturing for Enid to hand him her bag. After he put the bags in the trunk, he opened the door for them. “Uh, thanks.”

Fifteen minutes into the ride and the couple was deep in their conversation, Gomez was kissing Morticia’s hand with deep passion.

“Don't mind them, they're always like this.” Wednesday turned her head to Enid. “You should get some rest.” Her eyebrows were furrowed, and she seemed concerned. “You look tired,” she said softly.

Well, Wednesday was right about that (no surprise there). Enid had been waiting for this day for weeks. She had been staring awake at night, thinking about her parents coming to pick her up. Only for them to not show up and cancel at the last minute, without any warning.

Wednesday grabbed the side of her face with her hand and gently pulled it down towards her shoulder.

A warm feeling bubbled over in her chest at the contact, it had been doing that a lot lately. Every time Wednesday would compliment her or show any display of affection, she would get that feeling.

Oh, she thought, I’m in love with her.

The idea didn't scare her nearly as much as she thought it would, after all, Wednesday was perfect.

Enid remembers how she would lose track of time when she was with Wednesday, it was like they stood still while time flew by.

She loved being with Wednesday because she was different than most people.

Wednesday didn't shame her for her imperfections, (she threatened her daily, but that's not the same thing) she focused on all the things that made her, her.

That’s when Enid found out home isn't a place, it's the people and Wednesday was her home, her person, and she wouldn't change that for anything.

Enid relaxed her head on the young Addams shoulder before drifting off to sleep, thinking of all the ways she could tell her how she feels.
